Since our Gov was cleared have we heard a peep out of Whizzy and Whiney? They were constantly in the news during the failed witch hunt and now not a peep out of either one of them on anything.

Hey I agree the shutdown was foolish and immature. But to say all the wast d tax dollars were spent to defend lives is quite a stretch.

Fulop's 'time for some traffic jams at the Holland Tunnel' was stymied by his Police Chief, but he did 'punish' the Port Authority by a bogus 'safety' checkpoint for trucks leaving the Global Marine facility near the Bayonne border. It was said the be a 'routine' checkpoint, but there hasn't been another since . . .

Total nothingburger, as far as to Governor Christie's non-involvement. Not a shred of evidence was shown to tie Christie to the local approach lane closures, other than the 'word' of those convicted of being guilty of the shutdown. The Star Ledger, njcom, and Advance Media all took a hit for driving this non-story relentlessly.

I agree his approval rating is tied to bridgegate. His rating continued to decline with each story regardless if there was any new information. Big deal a couple road lanes were closed. It should have been a "Nothing Berger" All the taxpayer money that was spent was a far bigger issue to me. The media is trying the same tatic with Trump keep beating the Russian drum and hope he continues to fall in approval.

40 pages on JC List, and it's all over. The mastermind gets probation. The two co-conspirators likely to get a slap on the wrist. Christie totally innocent. Star Ledger Editorial Board disgraced.

As well as President Christie?

Yup, because that's exactly what he did-he fired everyone who lied to him about their involvement in the traffic jam.

Agreed. Except one person didn't get fired. Chris Christie. Members of his team took the fall. In Trump's words - "sad."

Christie aide gets two years in prison for role in Bridgegate scandal

Cristie aide gets two years in prison for role in Bridgegate scandal
Chris Christie won't face criminal charges in Bridgegate scandal

Former Port Authority exec Bill Baroni was sentenced Wednesday to two years in the slammer for his role in the ?Bridgegate? scandal that scuttled the presidential aspirations of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Baroni, a Christie appointee to the bistate transit agency, and Bridget Kelly, a former top aide to the embattled governor, were convicted last year of scheming to close approach lanes to the George Washington Bridge in a political revenge plot that snarled rush-hour traffic for nearly a week in September 2013.

Kelly faces sentencing Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier this week, prosecutors asked Newark federal Judge Susan Wigenton to sentence Baroni and Kelly ?at the bottom or modestly below? guidelines of 37 to 46 months behind bars.

Key testimony against Baroni and Kelly came from cooperating witness David Wildstein, another Christie appointee to the Port Authority, who admitted conspiring with them to ?punish? Democratic Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for refusing to endorse the Republican governor?s 2013 re-election bid.

Wildstein also testified that Christie laughed while discussing the snarled traffic with him and Baroni during a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero.

Under terms of his plea deal, Wildstein agreed to spend up to 27 months in prison. His sentencing hasn?t been scheduled.

In 2015, Christie kicked off an unsuccessful campaign for the White House and later became the first failed GOP candidate to endorse now-President Donald Trump, who said on the stump that Christie ?totally knew? about the lane-closure scheme.

Christie publicly blamed the scandal as the reason he was passed over as Trump?s pick for vice president, and he also got shut out of a spot in the president?s cabinet.

Poll results released Monday put Christie?s approval rating at a dismal 20 percent, with 72 percent of registered voters saying they disapproved of the job he?s doing.

The Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind survey marked a slight improvement over the 17 percent Christie notched in a January poll by Quinnipiac University.

That finding tied him for the lowest-ever job approval rating with former Gov.s Brendan Byrne and Jim Florio, whose popularity plummeted for enacting and hiking state taxes, respectively.

Looks like Christie finally landed a job in the Trump Administration!

Christie to take on role in Trump's fight against obesity in the heartland: report 3/29/2017

By Rebecca Savransky

Christie to take on role in Trump's fight against the obesity epidemic in the heartland: report Provided by The Hill.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will take on a role in President Trump's White House to combat the country's obesity epidemic, ABC News reported, citing White House officials.

A draft order, obtained by Politico, talks about forming a commission to make recommendations related to treatment of obesity and promoting a healthy, low fat diet in the heartland.

The president rarely spoke about tackling the country's obesity epidemic during his campaign. During the hectic campaigning candidate Trump subsisted mostly on fast food - which included his favorites - McDonalds and KFC.
Trump told Anderson Cooper in February 2016 that McDonald's was "great stuff" during a Republican presidential town hall.

A source in the White House speaking off the record said that it was an ideal fit - having Christie to head up the new commission. "Christie is a big man. He's been facing a struggle with obesity for much of his adult life. I can't think of anyone else that could fill the large role that this job requires."

The president told The Wall Street Journal during a past interview that "at some point, we're going to do something with Chris that will have something to do with what he know best."

Last month, the New Jersey governor dined with the president at the White House, where they discussed the country's obesity epidemic. Mr. Christie started the meal with an appetizer of foie gras followed by broccoli soup, stuffed hazelnut mushroom, and sweet potato with Parmesan. For his first entry he had lobster burger with Gruyere and Green Chili Mayonnaise, followed by orange glazed duck breast for the second entree, and for dessert assorted tropical fruit and aged cheese.

Some JC taxpayers could see a perfect storm ahead-a tax and spend Governor like Murphy, a Legislature that is determined to make Jersey City pay (at least part of) its fair share of school funding, and a reval that Fulop and others have been putting off. And none of it will be on Governor Christie, the Democrats will own it 100%.

My point is be careful what you wish for. Christie just made a full pension contribution. Our next Gov will be much worse. They will raise taxes more than CC. And it's spelt O-BLAME-A!

Let's hope there's a job offer!

TRENTON -- Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled to have a lunch meeting with President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, two sources with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media.

The meeting comes as speculation intensifies that Trump has grown unhappy with several members of his inner circle and their performance in the first month of the administration.

One source said Trump spoke to Christie, a fellow Republican and longtime friend and confidant, via phone last week and invited him to lunch.

He and the New Jersey governor are expected to discuss a broad range of topics, according to the sources, who requested anonymity to talk candidly about the meeting...

Christie readies to remain in N.J., 'no reason to believe' Trump job offer imminent

...despite the possibility he could ultimately accept a position in Trump's administration, he has "no reason to believe" an offer is imminent.

From nj.com -

Christie will say goodbye to N.J., hello to Trump post, ex-governors predict

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/ ... tml#incart_river_home_pop

I think the ex-governors are just being polite.

And CNN is pushing the popular belief that it's all about Jared -

Kushner vs. Christie: The nasty Trump transition fight that goes back a decade

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/16/politic ... chris-christie/index.html

And Politico says he still has a shot to head up Homeland Security
http://www.politico.com/blogs/donald- ... -selections-so-far-231444

I still believe it was Christie's public response to the release of the hot mic tape is the primary reason that he was booted from the inner circle.

By the way, I'm no fan of Christie but I would have preferred him over Trump. Christie may behave like a prick at times but I'd trust him with the nuclear codes. Trump on the other hand...

Monroe, perhaps?

It's pretty obvious that Christie is done. Kushner has almost certainly torched Christie in DC/Trump Tower, and he's reviled in NJ. He'll have to slink off to Asbury Park, beg The Boss for forgiveness, and try to revive his career in a few years.
