I saw this guy last Summer when I first moved here and thought he was some kind of mascot or just another crazy person LOL! The first time I saw him he was wearing a yellow outfit with a yellow hat and I mistook him for a guy in a chicken suit at first until I took another look!

Is there a pimp training academy? How do I break into this exciting business?

I had tourist friends come to visit last weekend. Totally unititiated, country folks. (They live in Amish country!)

So, Saturday we went into Manhattan to do some sight seeing.

We were standing on the Grove St. platform when the PIMP appeared in head to toe red. Cane, hat, everything.

I thought my friend was going to die. She came over and whispered to me, "IS THAT A REAL PIMP?!?" She wanted to take a picture but was too afraid.

I really think it was one of the highlights of her trip!

At around noon today I saw him on the platform of the Grove Street PATH station, sporting a light/dark green striped suit, white and green shoes, a green hat, and wearing green-rimmed sunglasses. The Port Authority police seem to know him - they gave him a friendly 'hello' as they came out of the WTC-bound car that he was getting into.

We were having brunch at The Beechwood today with some friends visiting from New Hampshire. I had never seen the pimp and one of my friends said, "Please look outside." So I did, and there he was sporting a greenish-blue suit and looking as good as the photos.

Wow, why exactly is this under "Crime & Safety"????

I would go around talking pictures of all of you in your polo shirts and khaki pants, equally as offensive, if not criminally dull, but I don't think I'd have the time or memory to store it in my camera.

I have also noticed that the tone of the postings have gotten so annoyingly and self-consciously ironic that it can only indicate that it has been overrun by the same boring, lamo constituents that have taken over this town!!!

Can you all PLEASE go back to where you came from, Wichita, Wayne or what have you? And leave the Pimp alone. He's much more interesting to look at then the lot of you!!

I am guessing that it's under Crime and Safety because of the stalking nature of the folks who follow and photograph this guy. I understand he can be very obliging but really, let this guy be! And I doubt he's a pimp, probably just hopelessly stuck in the 70's!

I think it's stuck here until there is a section for "Fashion Police".

It's a joke. Just chill out. The whole thread, in case you haven't noticed, is a little tongue-in-cheek.

(That, and I think "crime & safety" is more apt than, I don't know... "real estate" or "bars & restaurants" "Politics & Government" or "Contractors" or "NOT Jersey City." What options did I miss? "Arts & Entertainment?" Isn't that rude too? What, is here to amuse you? Do you think he's funny? Funny how? In case you can't tell, I'm joking again.)

p.s. You're not the first to make this point. Someone beat you to it by 2 years:

Cheez,
Get real people.

The guy in the outfits that everyone has posted pictures of is a living piece of performance art, and a neighborhood treasure.

He is not a pimp.

I thought that this was obvious, but not to everyone, I guess.

The real "pimp" is more like 60 years old. He is not actually a pimp but simply trapped in the 1970's. How come it is acceptable to call him a pimp? What if we described a woman as the "whore"?

Saw him at around 4:30pm on Newark & Erie downtown. Looking mighty fine in head-to-toe hot pink, including a hot pink zebra-print coat. Made my day!

I caught his act a few weeks ago during the day
on Newark Ave.
He was head-to-toe in pepto bismal pink.
Too wonderful for words.

I muttered to him, "lookin good"
and his nice respose was, "tryin to."

Wish he were mayor.

Saw the pimp stroll by in front of the Grove St. Starbucks as I was waiting for my order. It was like seeing the space shuttle fly over your house - I couldn't speak for about thirty seconds. The best part was he was wall-to-wall lime green - a sure sign of spring!

Is this guy actually a pimp? Does he coordinate a prostitution ring or is he a sharp dresser? A lot of ministers dress this way.

I saw this guy when I was in the car with my parents a few weeks ago... he was crossing Montgomery near Jersey Ave. He didn't have the light and didn't use the crosswalk but why bother when you can see him for miles away, haha! He was dressed in head to toe neon green.

Not sure if this is the same guy y'all are talking about but I saw one decked out in this Big Bird-yellow fur coat with matching hat. He passed by our store in Jersey Avenue about 11:30 AM today.

Teddy walked through the PATH car I was in a few months back. I felt like I was in the presence of a rock star. I think if I spot the elusive and totally awesome JC pimp I'll know I'm home.

I haven't seen the Downtown Pimp in probably about a year. I'm due for an appearance. He's definitely elusive. When you do see him, it's like seeing Santa Claus. He's a nice guy. I wonder what he does for a living.

That's a great question. I like to think of him getting off the PATH at WTC and walking over to 85 Broad to his office at Goldman.

He's always around VWP. He drives a white mercedes and I see him moving it around all the time to avoid ticketing. He often parks on Jersey between Montgomery and Bright.

Somehow I find it funny that the PIMP is also beholden to something as mundane as parking rules.
