Thanks for the responses.

Call me a wuss, but I have an innate fear of getting lost or confused with connecting to the airtrain or messing with busses. It's been 2 forevers since I lived in NYC and am no longer familiar with mass transit except for subways and some busses. My fear is that I'll miss the flight.

Otoh, I like the idea of taking the PATH to the city and then a taxi. Then again, the fare is fixed to JFK at $52 which means about $60 with tip.

I was hoping to find a convenient shuttle. Anyway, I think I'll book the best flight regardless of airports and hope to figure out the best way to get there without getting lost.

I could take EWR, but that means connecting flights and a minimum of 13 hours from A to B.

I've Ubered from my front stoop to LGA for about $50 or maybe a little less, during times of little traffic. To save a couple bucks take Path to Christopher Street, grab a taxi right there (usually a bunch passing by), or Uber from there.

Easiest and fastest methods:

To JFK:
PATH to 33rd, walk one block to Penn Station, take LIRR to Jamaica, hop on AirTrain. Total cost: less than $15, but on weekends it is closer to $10. Total time: ~75 minutes from Grove St.

To LGA:
PATH to 33rd, transfer to subway (F/M/R) and get off at Roosevelt St / Jackson Heights, transfer to Q70, which is a free transfer with your MetroCard. Total cost: less than $5. Total time: less than 75 minutes.

I have done both routes multiple times without issues and never missed a flight.

Now that the PATH is connected to the Fulton Center underground, you don't even need to navigate the streets and weather anymore.

For JFK the PATH to the E or A train then the air train. Its about hour and 20 min

LGA PATH to 4, 5 or 6 train to Grand Central and then take the bus to LGA also a hour and change.

What's a fairly economical and hassle-free way to get to JFK and LGA? I'm tired of spending in the neighborhood of $100 for NJ taxis or Uber.
