I'm confused...Is this the same place as Star Bar (there seems to be two threads here on the same bar) - on Wayne Street just off Grove? I didn't know they served food as well.

Oooh, the margherita pizza is THE BEST. My table ordered 3 of them the other night, and that's in addition to the food we already ate from the $5 menu. Plus, the Rangers & Devils game was on. You couldn't ask for more...

I love the Whitestar. Their $5 meals on Wednesdays are awsome. My favorite bartender is Paula. After a long day at work I can go in for a beer and she will have me smiling in a matter of minutes. She's better then therapy or prozac.

Very nice to read this, Croft. So many times we've seen competition spamming each other and to read the owner of one well liked establishment complementing another is refreshing.

Kudos, and +1 on your place too!

thanks, a few of the bartenders at white star have come in and hung out for a few hours after their shift and made my night a little more at ease...you know how it goes, two bartenders can chat each other's ears off, and on a slow night, just a little positive energy can change everything :)

i also thought it was interesting that white star also has a Lara. that was the 3rd time in my entire life that i ever met someone with my name... so i will be stopping in on her shift too at some point.

That was the first bar I went to that I felt comfortable in with the crowd that arrives. At Simple the prices are higher which attracts an older crowd; same with the Ale House.

I haven't been there in probably 6 months though because it is kind of a haul for me to get there, especially when compared to the liquor store that is so near to me.

While in there don't forget to order the Shane Island Ice Tea - just don't play that board game with Shane, he'll get really pissed if he loses.

I haven't gotten White Star in a while, but I like it.

During the winter we become burger regulars, but now that it's spring, I might go back to my salad...

I really like the one that has some kind of pasta (spaghetti or angel hair I guess) in it. My boyfriend thinks it's crazy - a green salad with pasta, but it's really good.

This will be sort of pointless, but I just love White Star Bar a lot and I want to show my PDA "Public-Display-of-Affection".

They have great food, good price, good vibe. Music could be tad on loud side, but hey, it's a bar.

I don't see my favorite bartender, Holly, these days but other bartenders are also nice (one can argue about their dismissive attitude, but I find them charming).

I just wish they have outside seating...

Their burgers are one of the best you can find in Downtown. (My all time favorite goes to Park Tavern, of course).

I am not affiliated with them whatsoever. I am one of regulars who can't stay away from them more than 3 days.
