Re: Citing chain store ban, Jersey City aims to block new CVS

Two Boots opened in 2012 before the chain store ban was enacted in 2015. So maybe they were "grandfathered" into compliance with that ordinance. In any event the ban has since been repealed so the point is moot.
It does however seem hypocritical that Two Boots would receive a "chain store" exemption and then complain about food trucks by the PATH Station. Aaron mentions "below market rates" but what is the market rate in the PATH Plaza? What do the Farmer's Market vendors pay a day for their little vending spaces?

Where do you suggest they hide the parking, below grade like the Majestic or the new Bourenquin Hardware complex?

I like it too. But did you notice they since had to tear the whole facade apart once or twice to fix leakage problems?

Re: Fulop's Criminal Element

There are a lot of people in Ward E that are seriously regretting the money and support they gave to Steve Fulop's mayoral campaign only to find out the double-cross was on.
We all know what a scoundrel McGreevey is. McG hired Eugene McKnight, a felon convicted of major welfare fraud in Jersey City. McK ran Diane Coleman's successful council campaign.
McGreevey's former Chief of Staff Gary Taffet settled an insider trading indictment with the SEC and is now selling insurance to Jersey City and running Fulop's gubernatorial campaign. And then there's McCann, yikes. These are among the the folks that represent the criminal element in Fulop's City Hall my friends and it stinks to high heaven.

Re: New tax bill

As a former supporter of both Fulop and Osborne, I view the new budget as a remarkably early double-cross by Team Fulop. My net income was reduced (via a tax increase) in order to increase the incomes of employees and new commissioners (i.e. out-of-towner McGreevey) in the Mayor's Office. Now I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. It will most likely be a pay-to-play scandal involving a no-bid contract with another out-of-town Fulop political supporter. We need to be prepared to be disappointed by Team Fulop because corruption is alive and well in Jersey City and our taxes, let's face it, will never ever be lowered. That said, I would love for the Fulop Team to change course and prove me wrong.

Is anyone else living on Van Vorst Park sick of the constant barking in the dog run? I have lived on the Park for 20 years and this is just about the worst it has been. I think the run should be closed if the Owners refuse to control their dogs.

Jersey Ave Street Sweeping Route Changed

I'm sure many folks have received early morning tickets (8:00-8:30) on Jersey Ave between CCD and Grand this Tuesday and Friday. Word has it that the street sweeping route was changed to satisfy 3 library employees who asked that Jersey Ave be swept first so they can come to work (at what, 8:30 or 9:00?) and park on Jersey Ave without having to move their cars.

Can anyone recommend a low-overhead reasonably priced plumber to hookup a new sink, dishwasher and icemaker? I had good luck with an electrician recommended on this site.

LOL Chief Porky Pig! I mean , the guy must weigh 400 lbs. There was a gathering in VV Park a couple years ago in response to some muggings and Chief Porky could barely make it up the stairs of the gazebo.
He couldn't run down a little old lady, let alone a mugger who stole her purse. He's a sorry poster boy for a shipshape Police Dept.

Shadow is obviously correct, it's a no brainer. But first they will have to pretend to clean up all the chromium and whatever along the way. I sure will miss all the rotting timbers in the putrid water at low tide (the geese don't seem to mind). I also see that another medical building is finally under construction in the Wilzig parking lot.

Re: Embankment- Update Thread

I was at the Historical Commission's Monday night Embankment hearing. Steve Hyman was sitting in the second row. About 1.5 hours into the hearing (snore), Hyman turns around and sees Fulop at the rear of the Chamber. He jumps up, runs back and gives Fulop a big handshake. They then go out into the Rotunda for a little chit chat. Huh?

If those two have a little Steve & Steve action going on you would think they might be a little more discrete about it. I read another post on this list saying that they have a "special" relationship. I wonder what's up with that? I thought Hyman was the Bad Guy and Fulop was the Good Guy. Can it be that they are playing on the same team?

To Pinkowitz: Just what is Fulop's "special" relationship with Steve Hyman? I'm curious because I was at the Historiucal Commission's Embankment meeting a couple weeks ago and saw Hyman leave his front row seat to run up to Fulop at the rear of the chamber. They then went out into the hallway to have a little chat. What's up with that? I thought Hyman was the bad guy and Fulop was one of the good guys.
