Cable modems are only fast if there aren't a lot of people in your neighborhood using it.

Comcast admitted to me on the phone Fios is faster. I think they got sued.

They like to make it so you can't use your x-box b/c they seem to think it is a torrent... yet you can download bit torrents without an issue. Not me, of course, I am speaking hypothetically.

My husband complains all the time that it is messing with his x-box connection. It happens when I am watching Netfix on my Tivo also occasionally.

I hate you Comcast. Fios please come to my neighborhood. I am willing to pay more. I know the beauty you can bring to my tv viewing and internet usaing.

If you updated your information with the DMV, or whatever it is called in Jersey, you should receive all that information in the mail. I moved in March and got it within a month.

screw brick pavers or any other decorative element on the sidewalk. I think the city would look a lot better if they put back the damn asphalt they ripped up weeks ago.

The neighborhood you are thinking of isn't Downtown you are right, it is Lafayette south of Grand with the caged in houses. The only places to live on that side of the turnpike that is 07302 besides Booker T and New Houses is this little tree lined community north of Montgomery that doesn't have gates on there porches. It looks more like an isolated suburb since it consist of mostly duplexes with driveways and/or garages. The people that live there call it Downtown too. Google map it, that area isn't just the projects and a housing complex it has working class homes that some people forget or don't know exist.

I know where you are talking about and it looks like a ghetto suburb and it is right down the street from the gated porched houses.
That Pathmark Parking lot is ghetto. You have bums peeing next to your car, knocking on your car windows, having bbq's in trash cans. lovely area. it is the edge of downtown. i can bet you when you call for delivery they aren't considering that downtown

you can't easily dye concrete. It is limited since it is already a muddy color. regardless as we have all seen concrete does not stand up too well to the weather conditions and the trees

One more modern alternative is actually concrete with dye and a pattern imprinted on it. Its basically a regular concrete sidewalk that has been colored and that has brick like grooves in it.

Concrete actually cracks relatively easy an acid etching would be really expensive

I wish that they would use red brick pavers for the sidewalks. It sounds trivial, but it makes all the difference in the world, and really encourages pedestrians to walk there. Concrete cracks eventually, and becomes dark with grime and dirt, and is just much less pleasant looking.

you say that now but in 5 years when they are busted up from the icing and thawing and the trees you will hate them.
You need something that is not so brittle and you can have smaller gaps. You just need enough for expansion and contraction.

The loud and lewd behavior from Indio's Place and the Latin Lounge has been going on forever. A petition was passed to deprive Indio's of their liquor license but nothing ever happened.

My son was woken at 3 AM recently with a full blown fist fight going on on 1st St. The cops can't respond quick enough in these incidents.

Indio's must go !!!!

I am with you. the only way to solve the problems that are occurring on 1st street is to get rid of Idigos!

I don't really hear noise from the bar on 1st Indigos or whatever.. lovely individual hang out there.

my problem is they have now hit two of our cars b/c they were drunk. one when we were on vacation but luckily my brother was at my apt and the kid across the street saw part of it and the 2nd i dunno when but my wheel well didn't get scratched up by itself. I would have notice doing that to it.

I part at grove point in a handicap spot next to a column so i know that it didn't get hit there and I don't really drive anywhere else. The cops should be paying attention to the drunkards getting in their cars.

If the ghetto bird is a flying they are looking for someone who did something bad.

I heard the helicopter too but unlike i think Friday night I couldn't see it so i wasn't sure if it was the ghetto bird or a news helicopter over the tunnel.

If you hear or see the ghetto bird lock your doors.. just in case

Downtown Jersey City White Blooming Trees

Why do you the white blooming trees in downtown jersey city smell like fish. My husband pointed this out to me but my allergies are so bad i haven't noticed.

Tonight I was walking to the Lamp Post to get dinner and noticed the fish smell so being a moron I pulled off a flower and smelled it. Low and behold it is the trees causing the smell.

Does anyone know why or what type of tree this is?

if you don't really know where you are going and the train is on the same track if it is going east or west you wouldn't know you were on the wrong train if it said journal square.

I have never been at 9th or Christopher at night but if they are all running on one track.. most likely it is there too.

Always. When you first sign up for the three play or two play or even a 1 play or whatever. you sign a a 1 year or 2 year contract. They mail you a notice about it. It locks in your rate but it also says their is a $175 early disconnection fee.

The thing is they can't actually keep track of the contract b/c mine says i still have like 4 months on it. i have had comcast for 2 years. it should be over.

Did anyone one aside from 1st Street have an issue with their garbage collection on 1/26/09? I saw all the way from Colgate to Erie, half taken garbage. At my apt building, they took two cans not four and none of the cardboard. I don't think they took any of the cardboard on our block.

I have never seen this before. Does anyone know what is up?
