no problem.

but seriously, how can you tell that they are too self important to call themselves a pub? getting that from just a name? come on now.

and questioning the name and whether they will offer accommodation? that's just you being silly.

can't anyone just be positive for once? a new restaurant in the neighborhood is a good thing. criticizing the place based on the name.....yes, is crazy.

The Hamilton Inn. Ok. So they're too self-important to be called a pub..., but as they've purchased whatever social cache the Alehouse has left, they've called themselves an "Inn". They're trying to tell us they've been around awhile. That they're established, etc. But do they provide accommodation. Are they a boarding house or a bed-and-breakfast? Or are they just old-school Hamilton Park. Redux?

take it easy. the hamilton inn is a good name. sounds good. doesnt it? i wouldnt read into it any more than that. i dont think they are trying to tell us anything....especially considering the place isnt even open yet. when it does open.....then you can visit the place and critique the place all you want. but freaking out over a name....thats a little insane.

Did some shopping at Buy Rite Thanksgiving morning. Awesome place. Unbelievable beer selection. Great customer service. Will definitely be back. Soon.

With that being said, having a new place to shop for liquor won't keep me from picking up a bottle of wine or a 6-pack of beer when im walking the streets of my neighborhood.

this is jersey city. please keep that in mind people. the park will never live up to anyone's expectations.

none of the park "attractions" will be anywhere near good enough. enough of the fighting.

Well, first it starts with the parents. That is the number one problem. Education begins and ends at home. Schools and teachers are merely guides.

got the roasted chicken last night for me and my wife. came to $23 including a brownie and another pastry type dessert. and celeste even threw in a large piece of olive bread.

more than enough food for the both of us, including some chicken for the dog. and it was really good homemade food.

compare that to cooking the same thing for yourself. maybe you could save a couple bucks, but factor in not having to cook, probably not cooking as well, and not having to clean up pots and pans. cant do much better than that.

obviously there is a line when it comes to unreasonable searches. but, using some judgment, which im not sure the jcpd has (besides the point), i dont see anything wrong with some random checkpoints or searches. and sprinkle a little racial profiling in there as well for good measure.

got a cappuccino here the other day. really good. just didnt love how there were a whole bunch of people sitting around with laptops and no room for me and my wife to sit down. there was even a table with just a couple laptop bags on it, and when we asked around to see if perhaps they could be moved, no one owned up to the bags being theirs. kind of annoying.

yup. thats exactly what i said. good job.

point is, lots of cops around here dont seem to give a shit. thats a problem.

and while i do not live near grove street, obviously i want the area i live in to be safe. most people want the same thing, regardless of where they live. thats one of the basic services im talking about. and if people do not feel safe, then the police are failing.

been living in jc since march, and ive already come to the conclusion that the jcpd is incapable of providing the basic services that are expected of them. ive interacted with a few officers at various times and each of those times i was very unimpressed. dignity, respect, authority. those are the words that come to mind when i think about a police officer. the jcpd couldnt be further from that. a bunch of misfits.

One question about the actual renovation. They removed the dirt/grass/rocks combination from mcwilliams, and replaced it all with concrete. Why not plant a few trees along the street as well?

You beat this drum alone. Not just your liberal neighbors but those conservative as well just about unanimously agree that taking away basketball courts from an inner city park is pretty dumb. No, we don't believe as you say in another thread that these kids will "go out and rob and stab." Hyperbole forgiven, but we only say that they are in a better place on a bb court than on the streets. As for providing residents with the phone number of the police to call when things get loud, how does this differ with calling the cops when dogs are off leash. You think that off leash law-breakers are not worthy of bothering the cops but bb playing kids are? The courts are a nuisance to you and just about no one else, not even those who live adjacent to them.

I could not disagree with you more. I live relatively close to the bb court. I moved into the area in March of this year. Once the weather warmed up, I found that on most nights, I could not leave my windows open. I also started going to bed with earplugs. And within the small time frame of moving into the area and the park closing down, there were numerous occasions of being woken up after midnight. Once after 2am, and another around 5am.

As Vigilante has stated before, the amount of trash that the bb court collects is absolutely disgusting.

Considering how relatively quiet the neighborhood is, there is no reason a bb court should be so close to people's homes.

And yeah yeah, we all know how it is illegal to walk a dog off-leash. But do those dogs keep you from sleeping at night?

The BB court adds no value to the neighborhood and is, instead, a nuisance. Anyone who would deny that is deluded or hopelessly PC. No area of the park collected more trash and more problems than that court. I support the summer leagues but they can play at Enos Jones, as they did this year, or the Charter School. The 2am basketball games are a disgrace and no one should have to put up with that. BTW? I don't even live near the courts but I have seen and heard the screaming and yelling on summer nights and anyone who would excuse that behavior is an idiot.

Bingo yet again.

I absolutely how quiet it is walking around the park at night. And now that its cooling off, I can actually leave my windows open at night without wearing earplugs. Good stuff.

This may be the perfect excuse for finally getting rid of the basketball courts. Tear it up, cap it properly with the 2-3 feet of fill that is required by law and plant some trees where the court was. That court being less than a 100 feet from residences is the STUPIDEST thing ever.

I do see the guy in Hamilton Park a couple times a week. Seems like a nice guy. His dog never bothers me or my dog, so I don't mind him not being on leash. Although one day he did lift up his leg and take a leak on my the back of my wife's leg. Pretty funny.

Eddie is funny. He will chew your ear off if you let him. I don't drink, I don't do drugs, etc. But then once you tell him you don't have any cash, he quickly shuts up and walks away.

There's this other guy on Newark, older who is always smashed, and walks with a bike.

Lots of weirdos. Funny yes, but kind of a problem.
