Dan Levine could work on his public speaking, in particular building up to a certain statement, but it was interesting that no one clapped when he asked Healy, Vega and Lopez to resign.

Took my daughter there last year, followed by a visit to the doctor for pink eye the next day. I'd opt for the beach if you don't mind the drive.

Thought this was interesting:

cops per 100,000 people

It would be cool if there was a search engine focused on government service stats. It could really help cut waste from county, city, local governments.

How do police departments or any other government department know how contracts and services stack up to comparable departments in other cities?

The other problem I see is that at 40k the salaries are not high enough and they are usually lower than any other position held. Therefore the council responsibilities are not the top priority. While someone mentioned that some towns pay only $1 to council people, managing a city this size sounds like a full time job that should pay closer to $80-120k.

With nine members, a payroll of 1-1.5 million, sounds about right for a city management team. Maybe we should introduce bonus / incentive money which would be rewarded by the people. A peoples choice award with categories such as best work for the environment, most responsive etc.

The path reps who were at the van vorst meeting last month said they're testing the cars now and are expecting the first set of cars to come online q1 next year. They will roll out on the wtc line first and come out in waves of 10-15 cars if I remember correctly. Once they get some more cars in the rotation they'll expand the number of cars per train back to 8. Tt is now at seven since they lost a bunch of cars on 9/11.

The cars along with signal upgrades will eventually, probably 10 years from now, run trains closer together. The increased capcity is good and the cars will all have three doors per side which will help load times, but a major problem I saw with their design is the lack of center poles. The rep said this design was chosen to encourage people to move to the middle of the car, but most people in the meeting agreed that this would not be the case. We all thought people would huddle around the poles close to the doors.
