Re: 440 is a mess! How can we improve this area?

I just noticed that the flag pole coming into Jersey City from Communipaw Bridge is still laying down in the island.
I thought there was also a Welcome to Jersey City sign there in that area that is not there anymore!

The last few days, well maybe weeks 440 is disgusting.
It begins with the horrible welcome from all these damn panhandlers in & out of traffic. Then it only gets worse when u have these ladies with their babies on their backs selling fruits & whatnot.
The island from Communipaw all the way down to Bayonne needs to be maintained. Lots of trash everywhere, tall weeds & now tons of campaign signs that pop up overnight! Complete eyesore.
Everyone needs to call the police (201 547 5477) to report the aggressive panhandling all over 440 when u see this going on.
I've called the hotline about the grass & trash ago over (201 547 4900)
Let's all do our part to call these problems in to make Jersey City Great Again... atleast on this side of town!

I read this yesterday & there's no details on who he was or pic of the vehicle involved! There's cameras on the bridge.
This the 2nd hit & run in less than a week.
Is this because there is no snow free path to walk on the bridge & they were forced to walk in the roadway?

I usually take the kids to the one in Secaucus.
It's clean & fair priced.

It's getting so bad here in Jersey city with all these panhandling people everywhere.
It started out with only 1 person many years ago which was Larry Adam's on 440 by Communipaw Ave & now everyday there's another 2 or 3 different people in and out of traffic. They are really causing traffic to backup cause people want to give them money & talk and at the same time not run them over.
Here, look at this link I came across yesterday...

They need to do an article about that old Al's Diner right outside the casino on Communipaw. I'ts been abandoned for few years now. Has a few broken windows & looks like that used junk car dealership next door took over that back lot with chopped up cars & trash in the back.

Geezzzz, that's not a deal at all! Why soo much to join? I got a BJs membership for 1 year for like 15.00. If I go like 1 or 2 times a month that's like a dollar each time so not bad at all.
Someone PM me & send me a scan of your card!

So no one knows where this snake came from or who put it there and why?
What happened to the camera that was facing that area?
Seems like all of a sudden there is no video footage. Hmmm

Yes, they still have everything inside.
I tried calling that number but nothing.
Funny thing is they have a hiring ad in the window & closed.
Also that website says closed everyday.
Strange.

Hey, just want to see if anyone knows why the Burger King King 440 is closed.
It's been closed for about a week now. I forgot what day I saw someone inside cleaning up & there was a closed sign outside.
It's still closed today so I was just wondering if they will reopen soon or if they are closed for a health violation.
I can sure go for them pancakes and coffee right about now.

Thank you! That place is a disaster along with the other place "Bravo Supermarket" they have down Westside Avenue by Union Street.
I told them a few times at both places about the cheese, cookies, various meats, milk, juices, fruit, etc that were bad and still on the shelf. Their solution I saw the next day i went in there was to put a sale or reduced sticker on it & still try to sell it.
I saw on the seeclickfix app that people been posting about that place for a while and their expired food being sold & the mold issue.

I don't remember a Pathmark there but I do remember Rickles. It was way better than the Home Depot & Lowes we now have in the area.

The sad thing is all this could of been avoided if the police chase these panhandlers away. They are all over 440 & the highway & the Communipaw Ave bridge.
They are all agressive pandhandling and everyone needs to call this in to JCPD 201 547 5477 to chase them away!

R.I.P. Willie Joe Bradford...

A 50-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a van as it came to a stop at a red light in Jersey City, authorities said.

Around 10:40 p.m. Friday police responded to the Kennedy Boulevard and?Communipaw Avenue intersection?for?a call?of a pedestrian struck by a Ford Econoline van, according to a police report.?

The van's 25-year-old driver told police he was slowing to a stop at a red traffic light when a "staggering" man walked into his lane and came in contact with the van. The driver said the man was panhandling as vehicles passed, the report states.

Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said the man fell to the ground after the collision.?

Bystanders and police found the man unresponsive with minor bleeding. He was?taken to Jersey City Medical Center, according to the police report.?

The victim's CT scan showed he sustained a traumatic brain injury and internal kidney damage, the police report indicates. He was unconscious and under ventilation at the time of the report.

The man's current condition was not immediately available.

The van sustained "moderate damage" to the left front sealed beam headlight and grille. The driver's view was unobstructed, according to the report.

Wallace-Scalcione said it was unclear whether any summonses were issued to the driver.?

Aren't they just selling fountains & that stuff. I don't think they are allowed to sell any aerial or explosive stuff. I'd like to pass by there during the week.
I saw that tent up but figured it was for Kmart selling some liquidation stuff out there.
