Brooklyn is comparable to DTJC until you factor in NYC tax.

My wife and I tried to get back to WTC on the 14th st. shuttle Saturday night. We waited 20 minutes in line and then nobody was able to get on because it was too full. There was a shuttle rep there, but he didn't have any information on when the next shuttle would arrive or if it would have enough space to get on it. We gave up and got a Uber after that waste of time, I have less of a problem spending the $ when I am frustrated and pissed off.

Judging by the permanent looking PATH shuttle signs on the bus poles, this is already planned to last more than 4 months.

Well, it's obvious that the best thing for Jersey City would be to kick these poor crazy people out of their homes and demolish these "problem buildings" so Kalen has a property to invest in.

Just can't stay away

We tried again Saturday night, was told there was a 45 min wait, and got seated in about 5 mins...not complaining, but just kinda evidence of the disorganization with new staff. After that we sat around for about 10-15 mins trying to put in a drink order...eventually that all panned out and we got the drinks and ordered food which didn't take too long to come out, though they first served us the wrong food.

So BBQ wise, it's pretty damn good but it comes at a price of course. $12 for wings, $12 for pulled pork sandwich, and $16 for a brisket sandwich. Portions are adequate, but not Texas size huge. They said they will expand the menu with burgers and some other southern comfort food. I'm hoping their burgers are cheaper. Beer was priced well enough, $6 for a shiner, most of their cocktails in the $10-$15 range.

As kdu1218 mentioned the AC is not doing a good job, you just kinda sweat it out under the lights, though it looks like they have plenty of AC vents to cool the place down. The atmosphere and decor is pretty damn cool, apparently some of the photos/art are one of a kind. They are also going to be showing films up on the roof when it opens and have a separate smoker up there for food.

It has a lot of potential to be a cool hangout, I was just hoping the BBQ would be a little cheaper.

I tried to go with my wife and a friend last night around 9pm. We couldn't get past the door, all the guy could tell us was they were at capacity. So i asked if there is a list, a wait? And he just said sorry, we are at capacity and the kitchen closes at 9:30pm.

Yeah I get they just opened, but give me something, he didn't even give a hint that we could drink at the bar when some people come out.

I'm from Texas and I just wasn't feelin the southern hospitality on my first visit, so it irked me some. But whatever, I guess they just need to train their employees to not turn away business, will try them again next week.

They have 20oz pours of $5 Yuenglings, and $4 Miller Light and Coors Light if you want a cheaper option.

$7-8 for a pint of craft tap is kinda on par with most bars, as for the plastic cup it's because they are not allowed to use glass on the rooftop. At least that is what I was told when I asked if I could bring my beer from downstairs.

Re: Downtown Jersey City businesses take on local farmers market

I'm at a loss as to why these restaurants think there is a direct correlation to lost business because of the food options provided in the market. Here's a dose of reality, my wife and I buy food from there because we are looking for quick food options that we can eat at home which is usually during the weekdays when we don't have time to sit down at a restaurant. The market simply provides an option that the restaurants that are fighting this aren't providing. We give our money to these restaurants on weekends when we have time to go out for a meal and booze up.
But they simply need to recognize the market isn't direct competition, and if they want to get in on some of the revenues, then they need to adapt and have some offerings there rather than shutting it down.

Being slow during weekdays at a restaurant isn't anything new and yes it's a tough business to keep afloat, but please don't feel like taking away options from Jersey City residents is doing us any favors. And yes, my wife and I will think twice about spending our weekend dollars at any restaurant on this list.

Damn, a lot of hate for a place that offers a Buon Appetito'esque option across the street from where Buon Appetito used to be. I'll give it a shot at least, will try out their chicken parms. I think it's good to have quick options like this close to the PATH.

Re: What is that NOISE!!!!!

Just can't stay away

They started jack hammering again at 7pm. I walked by there and talked to the police officer that was overlooking on the corner. He was a very nice guy and apologetic, apparently I'm not the first person that has complained, basically I just asked how long they will be drilling tonight. He said they should be wrapped up by 11pm, and he apologized for last night with them going to 4am when I mentioned it was impossible to get any sleep.

This is no emergency operation or anything with the train/tunnel, they are just installing electrical on the sidewalk. In his opinion there is no reason that they can't do this during the day and he fought against it, but apparently someone at DPW insisted this be done at night.

They got a lot of complaints last night which is why they are ending "early" tonight. He said to keep complaining to City Hall so this type of thing doesn't continue. It would be nice if Jersey City followed their own noise ordinances, but I guess it's too much for them to think of their own residents first.

I've been hearing a low hum noise kick on and off at night for about a week now, I assume it's this. Basically sounds like a big ass air conditioner turning on and off and running for about 15 mins or so.

But right now we are being treated to these guys drilling into the sidewalk at Pershing Plaza all night, it's impossible to sleep. I assume this is some kind of emergency maintenance for it to be going on this late. But having a big ass CAT there and dump truck seems pretty planned to me.

You do get 5.1 Dolby Digital with Netflix and Amazon Instant streaming as long as the title is encoded with it, some hardware (Smart TV's) don't support it, but that's a manufacturer issue.

It's pretty awful. I feel for all those involved that were injured or lost homes. I also feel a personal loss for Buon Appetito, they have been our goto place for pizza and chicken/sausage parms for years. They will be missed and I hope they make a comeback.

This was a great event, there was a big turnout with some awesome brews and music. Looking forward to it happening again next year, only thing I would like to see added is more bathroom facilities (2 wasn't enough), and food vendors to soak up the beer.

My GF and I think they actually have some of the best bar food in town. The burgers and sandwiches are tasty and they have one of the few salads I actually like, so that counts for something.
I of course like the beer selection, but I do wish they offered cheaper goto drafts like Sam Adams or something for 5 bucks.
I think they only offer PBR and Guinness in that price range.
The beer is what knocks up my check price everytime, but hey I am glad I was able to check out a beer like Dogfish Head Positive Contact there.

Don't the "new" PATH cars have security cameras?
Seems like that footage would be useful in these kind of situations.

She very well might think she was assaulted/groped, I don't think people are saying she is lying. But the reality is as we all know, if you are by the door on a crowded train and it's still taking on passengers you will be pretty intimate with the person next to you.

As a dude, it would kinda suck to be arrested and have sexual charges against me for getting on a crowded train. Safer to wait for the next uncrowded train, but with how the way the PATH is now, could be awhile.

This is really odd, because they sent me letters in the mail about renewal specials about a week ago.

And I barely make it to the gym and it's only a few blocks away, no way I am gonna go if I have to actually ride rail :)
I am also one of those people who just want to rock a treadmill for cheap.

I walked around Paulus Hook, no street flooding and the water isn't spilling over the walkways. But Morris Canal Park is pretty flooded, here is some shaky cam footage I made. Also I saw some pretty big downed trees on the walk there from downtown.

My gf and me are current members at the gym, we mainly use the cardio stuff upstairs. When I go downstairs I am not seein any mold or smellin what you guys are talkin about. Then again I'm not one to complain when a gym smells like people sweating and not a day spa.

Did Ikea run out of bookshelves or something? Looks like a nice place, but the fact that they have so much space and limited shelving makes it looks like a cafe/performance space as mentioned previously. Can't win the battle if you don't have the stock.
