Re: Field Station Dinosaurs - Anyone Visited This?

I took my kids for the first time last week. They loved it (a boy - age 6 and a girl age 7 3/4). I thought it was OK - it was much smaller than I imagined. I also thought it was way overpriced. For 1 adult and 2 kids it was $80 - this includes $10 for parking.

I have used Soft Paws and they are great. You order them online: www.softpaws.com. Putting them on isn't too hard. A little glue (provided with the claws) in the cap and insert over the nail. They fall off when your cat sheds the nail. You then need to put a new cap over the new nail.

I take 78 to Turnpike North to 280 (which is like exit 15 - it's clearly marked as the exit for 280).

I agree that Grimaldi's in Hoboken has the BEST slice around.

If I had to pick a JC location, I would pick John's pizza over on Sussex - It has to be a slice of their Margarita (which uses fresh mozzarella vs. their regular pizza which uses a Pollo-O type mozzarella).

Last week, there was an injured Red-tailed hawk (juvenile) in front of my building (Montgomery & Washington). After receiving NO response from Animal Control (waited 1 1/2 hrs in the freezing cold), a very nice woman drove the injured bird to the Raptor Trust. I'd post a picture, but don't know how :(

I went shopping at the A&P on Marin Blvd (& 18th street) this morning and noticed a new Toys R US Express. Wish I knew about it yesterday as I travelled all the way to Toys R US on 440. The manager mentioned Geoffrey the Giraffee will be there on Sunday.

While it's not in J.C. another option is Hoboken Catholic. My children go there and I am really happy with it. I live downtown and can either drive there or take the light rail. There are many Jersey City kids who attend the school.

Komegashi is my favorite. The Grand Banks - right down the block (Montgomery and Washington) has pretty good sushi as well.

If you walk along the Exchange Place walkway, make sure to walk to the end of the Hyatt or J. Owen Grundy piers - great views from the end of the piers.

No idea why it was towed. I got a call at 1:30 in the morning saying I should remove my car from the lot next door. After moving the car, I went back to sleep.

It was construction. The wind was blowing so hard, one of the flat steel roof like things (sorry don't know what the technical name of it is) was flapping in the wind. The police were securing the area just it case it blew off.

Part of the Wings and Wheels expo out of Teterboro airport. You can take a ride in "Yankee Lady" - I understand it's pretty expensive to do so. She just passed over my house.

So I am walking home from Duane Reade this morning with my kids. I just bought my 2.5 year old a new toy car. He is playing with it as we walk down Montgomery Street right off of Marin. He says "Mommy look!" He shows me the new car - caked in dog poop. The poor kid was heartbroken that I had to throw out his new toy. PLEASE PLEASE PICK UP YOUR DOG POOP!!!!

My cat passed away Monday morning. The vet took care of the cremation - about $250 dollars. We pick up her ashes on Friday. We were originally going to bury her upstate, in the Catskills, but with the ground so frozen, we opted for cremation.

I grow herbs and tomatoes. Unfortunately, my little fuzzy neighbors, the squirrels have eaten all the tomatoes. Anyone have a recommendation for keeping the squirrels away?

Pizza is good, but thin. I need at least 2 slices to feel full ($5.00 worth of pizza) compared with one $3 slice from La Rustique.

I do a 4 mile (all waterfront including the marina behind Warren street) and a 6 mile loop - all waterfront - up to and around VVP and back to the waterfront. I just run around the construction - run up to where it begins, climb the steps and run along side the constuction which is next to the office tower that has a walkway to the Madalay building. It is here where I meet up back with the waterfront walkway. Nothing like the NYC skyline in sight when out for a run!

It is a shame that the Colgate park is in such disrepair. I understand that great changes are in store - but that's years away. How about a few quick fixes? Maybe some working swings and a sandbox is not made out of splintered rotten wood. And lastly, get rid of those bushes! Just don't feel safe hidden behind those bushes while pushing my baby on the swing. I too would love to know if there are any updates as to the park's development.

Fact RE: Colgate Clock - I believe it's the largest analog clock in the world.
