Re: Plastic bag bans coming to Hoboken, Jersey City

A small step in the right direction, but we are going to have to do a lot more. We need a single use plastic ban. Beverages can go in cans a bottles. And we will figure out the rest.

If only there was a food hall conveniently placed indoors, around a bunch or retail stores, with a cinema, and parking.... Oh right the FOOD COURT at the mall.

Not sure why the dress code even matters. Plenty of slacks and leather loafer wearing idiots puke on my stoop after a night drinking on Newark ave.

Garbage everywhere
#6

Not too shy to talk

I feel like garbage on the streets has gotten worst. No matter how many ties I clean around my building there is always more garbage blowing around.
Can anyone tell me if:
Buildings are required to keep their sidewalks and tree planters clean? Who can I contact if they are not ?
What about businesses and parking lots? The one on Columbus and Barrow is lined with garbage that blows all over.
What can I do about buildings putting out garbage on the wrong night?
Who is responsible for planting trees in empty sidewalk squares?

thank you

If you didn't want to restore to historic code, why did you buy something in a historic district? If you like the way the neighborhood looks, then why wouldn't you help to preserve it?

It just seems to me that all the people who try to get out of historic preservation codes just want to flip their properties and spend the least amount of money possible on their property.

I redid my windows to the historic specifications. I was mad at first, but now they look really nice and the neighborhood looks great thanks to the people who put some extra time and effort to do it right.
Props to Dan who is willing to be the "bad"guy and keep the neighborhood looking nice. This also prevents investors and cheapo slumlords from choosing the cheapest and ugliest option.

The countdown screens will just be used to tell you the escalator is broken, elevator is out of order, and there are delays due to signal maintenance.

They are all over the trees around my building, they seem to be killing the entire tree (and pooping all over my stoop). Should I do something? Do they have any natural predators?

While on the topic of trees, how can I get more trees planted on my block? Seems like a few have died or been cut down and not replaced. I also see lots of empty sidewalk squares where a tree could go.

I fee like this relevant to Jersey City's PATH problem, but also the reason why communities everywhere are not investing in public transportation.

Yeah right, local middle class boat owners, especially the ones that could dock at the south east corners as per Suntex picture. Super middle class indeed... I was sort of giving them the benefit of the doubt as a commercial company with its own interest but I guess no more. Glad our city is exposing and halting all the shortcuts Suntex relies on to push this through including obviously some insider in the current state administration. I wonder what a freedom of information request would give in terms of who did what.

LOL middle class boat owners!

I love the new pedestrian plaza, but I do agree that rather than being a green space it?s a become a poor man?s Jersey shore with more garbage. Are there plans to add trees or fountains, or even more garbage cans?

All this pointless "security" and the 33rd st st trains still stop in Hoboken on the weekends.

I really wanted to like this place but here is my experience:
Food is OK, good, but not great. I ordered the same thing several times and each time the dishes were different.
Most importantly I feel like they just don't care. Dirty wine glasses were handed to me. The waitress and the OWNER were on their phones the whole time. When I was the only costumer I had to flag them down! The owner was watching a video with sound! So I had hear his IG feed while I ate.
All around crappy experience.

Right after they reopened the streets, cars were flying through the intersection running red lights. The blood hadn't even dried on the pavement yet and not a cop in sight to get people slow down. This has always been a problem, why aren't they ticketing people?! I have seen cops parked on the corner of Columbus and Barrow no even look up when cars whiz past. I don't understand.

1. If I see you trying to push a double wide stroller into a tiny coffee shop I will call you out. Especially when your kid is clearly old enough to walk.
2. Do you understand the environmental damage getting a to go cup of coffee everyday with a straw does?? What the hell are you doing that is so important that you can't sit down and drink it in a real cup. An espresso in a to go cup with a lid??? It's like two sips!!
