Sad, if true.
Especially after the talks I have had with Dan Levin on his outlook...
I guess we are all sell-outs in the end, huh?

Dude - you need to get a serious grip.
a) No one was saying Manhattan/Brooklyn have no charm.
b) Living in Paulus Hook does not make VA2015 less wealthy than you.

So park slope or downtown manhattan have no charm? Or do they have no charm because you're too poor and can't afford to live there? Let's be honest here....

Let me be honest with you. Most people, including myself, if money were not a factor and city life is preferred over surbia (and who have no family or kids) would be in midtown west in a 30 story luxury building with a dead on view of the empire state building. I'm too poor to afford anything more than where I live in paulus hook and you're too poor to afford anything better than anything where you are living at now. For you to put down those living in manhattan or park slope as having no charm is quite ridiculous. They are richer than you, deal with it. If it makes you feel better at night to think that where you live has "charm" then so be it but the newport area has just as much make believe "charm" as where you live does.

The fact is though, more development money flows to newport than does to anything west of jersey ave....how are you measuring "charm"?

To clarify, my experience had nothing to do with an over-charge...just with a business owner being blatantly rude to me. I chalked it up to a bad day the first time, went back some time later to purchase a greeting card, and apparently that was not a good enough sale.
Whatevs...

Though part of me fears being attacked by the "JC boys club", I too have had 2 poor experiences at PostNet. Instead of flying off the handle, however, I killed him with kindness and that kind of worked. I still won't be going back, however.

Visitor 1, sorry no one warned you that many people on this site are incredibly immature, hateful, judgmental, and incapable of helping others.
Most of the time it isn't worth coming here for any real advice.

However, it looks like there are a couple listings via Yelp for Life Coaches in the surrounding area...

When I am craving Ethiopian, I head to South Orange. There are a couple good, small Ethiopian restaurants there!

Obviously, Heights confused surrogacy with incest. Sad.

I am happy to say that I have been a donor to a gay couple trying to conceive by way of a surrogate, and couldn't be happier for the chance I have given them.

I have lived in JC for 8 years and actually just used this request service for the first time last weekend, due to someone dumping heavy trash in the alley next to my house. First thing Monday I received a note from JC saying that the trash men would be sent to collect the items, and sure enough when I got home from work, they were gone!

I was pleasantly surprised :)

I just read this crazy thread after reading the Ibby's thread and how it is starting to mimick the Taqueria thread...
Anyhow, I just wanted to report that I was actually at Taqueria when the below, quoted incident took place. I was with my friend at the time and if I hadn't already been eating, I would have left. I also couldn't believe how calm this woman (apparently hamiltonparkmom) was about the entire thing. I actually went up to the busboy or whomever had asked her to get up and told him I was offended.
I haven't been back since and don't intend to...

Oh please? Sure...I am making this up :eyeroll:
I was told in a text message by my landlord to not deposit my dog's waste (yes, it was in a knotted bag) in the outside garbage cans, in which I put my kitchen/apartment waste. It was then noted on the actual garbage containers with a sign. And then again in the rider to my lease.

Anyhow, that point isn't up for debate.
What is, is the fact that JC seriously lacks garbage cans.
Any other city in this country (even the small towns in which I have lived) has city cans on the corners.

CHACHACHA - oh please - who the hell is your landlord to tell you that you cannot use your trash to put the dog poop in? I have a tenant and they put their dog poop (which is already in a bag) in the trash bin and I am glad that they at least pick it up....screw your landlord, pick it up and put it with the rest of the garbage. After all it is garbage. I do the same thing myself, there are no public receptacles so I put it in my own garbage can. It's in a bag already and no different than the crap that is already in there...you can't be that moronic to walk to a public trash can to dispose of it - does your landlord monitor your garbage? Just throw it in there and be done with it...if he doesn't like it then let him take it somewhere else.....I can't believe you even posted that you walk three blocks out of your way looking for a trash bin? It's garbage so put it with the GARBAGE!

Another reason people probably refrain from picking up their dog's poop, is the fact that there are hardly any public trashcans in Jersey City. I have been told by my landlord to NOT use our outdoor trashcans to dispose of my dog's poop bags (though I pay to live there). It is such a pain having to walk an extra few blocks to find a public trashcan late at night, when it is raining, when I am running late for work, etc. And, yes, I have brought this issue up with the city who could care less.

I really believe more public trashcans would help our rampant dog poop issue.

Pretty sure the "law" is to discourage eating and drinking on the train...not to carry food. It doesn't make sense that I can't go grocery shopping at Whole Foods/Trader Joes and also buy a few beers and not be able to bring them back via PATH train.

Re: Beware of Dog!!

I, for one, am not picking a fight and sorry if my previous post came across as rude.

I have a dog who is a member of my family and similar things have happened to her. I also had a dog that got in a fight with another and I did pay their vet bill. While it is a crappy situation, I guess I just meant it's best to chalk it up to error. Describing the dog owners and dog on the site will not do anything. It is possible the yorkie provoked the other dog and this black and white dog will be perfectly fine with other dogs. You never know what will set off an animal (or human animal for that matter).

Also, it sounds as though the owners did what they should in that situation... "They wanted to take our number and also offered to by her a new collar".

Posting a beware of dog warning seems very unfair.

Dogs will be dogs.
Just as humans get rubbed the wrong way by humans, so do animals. This is the chance we all take as dog owners.
