From Journal Squar you can take Bus 83 and it'll get you to Hackensack. From there, I'm sure you can get a connection into Paramus.

If united Water kicks in $2.6 million to the city, I'm sure the mayor will #respect the utility .

I thought police purchases where made by the state or state grant or contracts to supply local government.. Shouldn't it be the state that dictates it?

I know that... But, there's no way a dozen plus cars show up on the same stretch of road unless its done deliberately.

Does target allow overnight parking? I have seen limos park towards the best buy area, but there is usually a driver in them.

The taxis in Journal Sq were left overnight from what I can tell.

When did Journal Square become a NYC Taxi Stand?
Home away from home
Home away from home

Had to get some stuff from the Rite Aid in Journal Square yesterday. I was there after 9am and there was no parking to be found. I counted a dozen NYC yellow cabs parked at the metered spots on both sides of the Boulevard and a few more at the small metered parking/ taxi waiting area near the Path.

I don't have issue with people parking their cars overnight, but this looks like some taxi owner or drivers using the street as their own personal parking lot when parking rules are not in effect and limiting access to street parking for somebody else.

Not sure if this is a everyday occurrence, but if others do see the same, maybe something should be done.

There will be line and just stay on it and once you are checked in you are in a large room with all the other jurors. Bring an ipad or something and you can pass time.

Ez-towing, official city tow?
Home away from home
Home away from home

Looking at this photo, it seems like Ez-Towing is doing the recovery work for the PD. This isn't the first time I seen the PD use them. I would like to know if the city has a contract with this towing company? If there is a contact in place, is it a recent contract, or is it a holdover from the previous admin?

If it is recent, I thought the new mayor promised a change when he comes to office.. How do you give a contract to a company the State has found to violate the law? (http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... _city_towing_firms_e.html)

Re: Idea for cleaner streets and saving JCPA money
Home away from home
Home away from home

I have no problem with the JCPA honking to let people know they're coming. However unfriendly the JCPA is, the courtesy honk is something I support..

The street cleaning times varies from one street to another, people who park could be sleeping, supporting a local business or any number of factors. They honk once or twice and for the most part, everyone moves their cars in time.

Having said all that, they need to get a better cleaner. The cleaner that goes around puts more debris onto the street than it removes. I once posted about how they clean in Detroit. First comes the parking scooter, then a truck comes spraying water flowed by the cleaner. They only do it once a week and once a week is something that should be done in most parts of the city.

For an officer, you certainly have some free time on your hands.. I bet you are posting from your job working "detail"...

I don't get what your problem is. In a free society anyone and everyone is free to criticize what they see wrong. All you have done is attack anyone that questions wrongdoings by an officer or officers. If anyone that needs to go away is you, come back when you start enforcing front window tints on cars with FOP plates, pretty sure you'll catch that same car talking on the cell and blowing stop signs and red lights.

Double Dipping JCPA Official and Hudson County Teacher arrested for DWI

Jersey City man with 2 public jobs charged with DWI; 3.5 times over legal limit: cops

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal

A County Prep High School teacher who moonlights as a full-time Jersey City Parking Authority worker was arrested and charged with drunken driving on Sunday night after police say he swiped parked cars on Summit Avenue and then crashed into a utility pole.

Joseph Curran, 53, of Sherman Place, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to exhibit documents. Curran had a blood-alcohol level of 0.28, three-and-a-half times higher than the legal limit, police allege.

He earns $61,653 as a County Prep teacher and $74,798 as a JCPA official.

I've never been to 2nd st bakery, but have been to Carmines (west side, for those that don't know) on Mallory, and you can pretty much see the same scene here.. It's not just limited to JCPD, you have JCFD and other city employees double parking and whatnot for a sandwich.

I had the same thing happen to me, emailed Fulop about it, and he never wrote back. It was my first time, I didn't know they boot you immediately. There also needs to be some paid metered on CC towards Exchange Place.

That happened to me a few years ago (was on Washington for 10 minutes, came back and there was a boot and ticket on my car). I was pretty outraged, as it was my first offense too.

I sent an email to my then-councilman, a guy named Steve Fulop, and he emailed the parking commissioner and had the boot fee removed. Not saying it'll happen to you, but that's one of the ways he won my vote.

Rafal Rogoza / The Jersey Journal

A 24-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital early this morning after she was struck by a drunk driver in Jersey City, according to police reports.

Harold Ortiz, 20, of Newark, was charged with endangering an injured victim, assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, knowingly leaving the scene of an accident, and minors possessing alcoholic beverage, after he struck a pedestrian near the intersection of Tonnelle and Manhattan Avenues, reports say.

Around 2 a.m. an off duty police officer observed a silver colored Honda civic strike a pedestrian while speeding southbound on Tonnelle Avenue, reports say.

IF they are doing something illegal, they deserve to be shut down. You can't shut down someone because they are a nuisance to you.

More police activity last night near Jordan's Lounge.

At 3am, we witnessed 2 ambulances, 1 police car.
The ambulance took someone away on a stretcher (not in a hurry), so either they were ok or completely not. The crowd was again very large and disturbing the peace.

This is the 3rd incident on this block since July 27. So while Fulop has locked up 111 people in JC, Downtown is witnessing more dangerous activity.

I will be looking into the process for petitioning to shutdown Jordan's Lounge. Please stay tuned for details soon.

Anyone with experience with JC City Hall, appreciate your support.

Thanks
