Re: All Points West 2009 Festival linuep - Guess the lineup & WIN TICKETS!

I am a MBV fan...but to me it wasn't even an organized noise..the mix just sounded f'ed. All I was hearing was a guitar autopanning left and right from afar...to all the people that claim you don't don't get it, I don't think the sound engineer was able to handle their idea of a wall of sound with that large of an event. Though I also do find it funny that it pissed off all the Tool fans.

Speaking of Tool, of course great set...but kinda pointless for them to bring out a second drummer. What's the logic when you have one of the best drummers in the world to bring someone else in and kinda bang around on a badly mic'd drum set.

Standouts for me were Heartless Bastards, St. Vincent, Silversun Pickups, The National, Elbow, Mogwai, The Black Keys

the band that I thought sounded the worst..Telepathe? wtf. They took forever to setup and then their vocals just sounded like 2 chicks who can't sing.

I've seen Beastie Boys twice only in festival settings. They were totally sloppy and they barely played any instruments and only sang over the DJ, and even then they were forgetting lyrics. I also didn't like how they pretty much remixed every song live.

Jay Z with a backing band would definitely help with the crowd.

I just don't think he fits this festival, put him on Rock the Bells or something. Beastie Boys are usually pretty horrible live, but I guess coming this close to the date the promoters are taking whoever they can get at this point.

I used to live in Montgomery for 2 years, and now I am on my second year in Metropolis. I disagree that Montgomery is a nicer building, I had a roach infestation from hell there and the exterminators management hired were very poor. Also getting anything fixed took forever (like the a.c) , because the one guy that did anything was impossible to get ahold of, as well as the building only having 2 elevators and them breaking down every other week.

The company I work for regularly uses PSAV and King Cole for conferences, they aren't necessarily cheap though.
In house hotel a/v will always rape you, god forbid you actually trying to bring in your own people also.

Way better lineup than last year, I just want to see the set times. Hopefully My Bloody Valentine aren't playing the same time as Tool.

I wrote them an email complaining this what they sent...
"At this present time, we are limited with the number of HD offering we currently provide. This is based off of the contracts agreements that we have with the channels that offer a high definition signal. This does not mean that we are not trying to obtain contracts with channels we currently do not provide because we are always looking for ways to improve our variety of programming. We ask that you please give us an opportunity to make enhancements to our level of service. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your suggestion and appreciate your patience"

So basically they are too cheap to shell out money to get agreements signed, and here I was thinking it was some kind of HD bandwidth limitation..nice.

I don't watch sports which takes away most of the HD channels, the network HD stations I am not even counting since they can be pulled from the air for free, and premiums well you only get those if you subscribe....so aftet that Comcast only has a handful of HD stations, ridiculous.

My G/F in Brooklyn gets a significant more amount of HD with Time Warner.

Comcast brags about HD in relation to their on demand content which I can't even get in the first place because of my MediaCenter Cablecard setup.

Comcast quarterly earnings were up 38%, too bad they don't put any of that money towards their infrastructure and more into researching ways to rape their customers.

I would say a small roach problem, occasionally I see them around the kitchen, they are very small in size. I do have traps everywhere as a precaution as well as gel in my drawers. I also have a cat that has food sitting out all the time, so that can be problematic also.

I guess I am also comparing it to my previous situation where I couldn't even have an object on the ground without roaches infesting it, so seeing one off and on doesn't really bother me.

The building does have roaches, but all the places I have lived have them in some capacity. I don't know how well management responds to them since I haven't complained yet.

I live in the 2nd building on a high floor and pay $1240 for a large studio with no balcony. Totally worth it for me to have laundry, doorman who takes packages, across the street from the path and a lot of space with a decent view with utilities included.

I don't really have a roach problem and have been living here for a year, about to renew my lease this month for another year.

I lived in Montgomery Towers across the street before I lived in Metropolis and I had a stupid crazy roach problem that I could never get rid of.

are they running less trains also? it seems kinda odd that during my normal traveling hours at 10 and 6 I suddenly can't get on a train because they are too packed since yesterday.

what the hell were they thinking? didn't they know that the one crosswalk where people are going to cross is just going to back up the small ass street where everybody is walking down. this is horrible planning, is there any planned completion date on this thing?
