Re: Tell Trader Joe's to come near the Grove Station!

I don't know how the location in Edgewater looks, but the one in Brooklyn is impressive. Its a historical building, possibly a bank, and when you walk in, its like you are in a museum. I would like those same qualities for a possible store in JC.

I think a location like this would be nice (i guess its some auto place). Given, its not downtown, but it would be a good way to spread some shopping traffic throughout the city and still relatively close to transport / major road.

I'd be interested in the take home pay (considering all the non reported income) on average per week. Then I will begin to feel sorry.

I tip based on service. I don't care if its a law. A tip is a tip.

In either case, i've been looking for a cheap drill

I wouldn't be surprised if they parked there because the passenger wanted to open their door with no snow blocking the way.

It's a shame, but I don't blame them.

The BOE should have closed it for one more day.

I bet every class just watched a movie.

What can you teach when you have half the time of a normal day, have been out the last 2 days, and will be out the next 3 days?

Still, McCann is right. Don't abuse the system. They all are in a union. They could have called the union and asked for an official day off.

I was there today, but not during the fight.

I did notice at least 3 security guards on the 3rd floor, I wondered why considering there are usually none.

That mall is a joke, its more of a hangout than a place of business. Just getting around the idiots standing in groups, doubles the amount of time you spend there. Thats why the drive to Paramus is usually worth it for me.

Re: How much to tip for food delivery?

I think its enough. I don't think I ever tipped over $5. It depends on the total amount, I just round it up and thats what I give.

Given everyone would like a bigger tip, think of it this way. If its a decently busy place, they make a decent amount.

If they delivered just 3 orders per hour (its almost always more), that $9 per hour for which he most likely doesn't report for taxes, plus the small salary he gets from the job, I think not too bad for delivery.

Can't expect the same from our city government, they're strong democrats, wont cut spending. I like how Christie said "Now is the time when we all must resist the traditional selfish call to protect your own terf at the cost of our entire state." Same could apply at the city level. Now lets just see if people listen.

With all seriousness though, you should tell Fulop before they vote on it tomorrow. They might still use the censorship excuse, but it would save cost. Not the best quality but cost wise they could even have 3 or 4 set up.

The "wires" seems to be a huge issue. Can you imagine the cost of running wires to the nearest internet connection?

In the article it said:
Quote:
Morrill said in order to show meetings live, cable would have to be run from council chambers on the second floor to the television studio on the third floor in City Hall.

Jersey City Council meetings won't be televised live

So they agree it should be televised but not live.

Quote:
The issue of live coverage came down to cost and ability to edit content, such as profane language during public comment.

So we will be seing a watered down version of the meeting. They will probably edit out all the people speaking.

Quote:
She said that along could cost $3,000 to $4,000, not including manpower to film the meetings, which can go late into the night.

Yea, and they are really trying to save money right now.

Quote:
Fulop said he could live with not having the meetings air live, but felt that if the city could air all it?s parades, all meetings could be recorded and aired before the next meeting.

It's trully a shame that such a large and developing city cannot have a functional system in getting the message accross.

It would be nice if the meeting was live, but I wouldn't mind if it was posted on the JC1TV site (in a timely matter) aswell. They show the meetings between the counsilpersons, why not show the meeting with the residents? I think they are afraid of an uprising. Surely Willie Flood would stay up if Fox would air even a few minutes of it. I wish Arnold Diaz (Shame! Shame! Shame!) would come back and chase a few of them around the building again.

There is plenty of blame to go around but ultimately he is the one who allowed this to happen. As mayor he relied on bailouts from the governor and it is clear that will no longer happen. If no blame is put on him now, none will be put on him when he runs for re-election.

Re: Fulop wants to move Jersey City elections from May to November

Personally I like that some elections are in May. Having elections only in November is boring. You vote once per year. Having one in May mixes it up a bit.

Having it in Nov wont necessarily help in cases like the Board of Ed election. People were just not interested. They wont become more interested if its held in November. There wasn't a lot of info available for each candidate (only like 5 of them).

Big Brother wants those sirens, aka megaphones, everywhere, great.

Article makes it clear, this isn't for JC or Hudson County, this is for New York.

Anyone consider how stupid those sirens look? Besides, they wont do any good. If anything happens, the last thing people will listen to is that siren/megaphone. By the time they are ready to make an announcement we could get all our info from the press.

The radio station seems like a better idea but again wont do any good. If something happens, I probably wouldn't remember the station number, i would just turn to 1010 Wins.

Re: FedEx
Home away from home
Home away from home

They all do that, UPS, FedEx, USPS. Personally I've had the best experience with UPS. FedEx is always off target with their delivery time with or without the tracking. And if you ever call in their answer is "we don't have any communication with our driver until he comes back to the warehouse" I ask if they can call him and they say "we don't require the driver to have a cell phone" seriously? so the driver does whatever he wants all day.

USPS is always lazy. They have the advantage of having your mailbox key where they always drop the slip in. I've been waiting for an urgent package once and I kept calling the post office on Mont to check the status and they kept saying "on the truck, on the truck". Well after 5 hours of "on the truck" to deliver a package a few blocks i went downstairs and checked my mail box. Looks like they missed me and its in the post office, really?

The biggest problem is that there are so many trucks in route. Ground, Air, Express, 1 day, blah blah blah. This way you cant just go up to one driver and say where's the package.

Police @ Montgomery & Warren; In the AM; 12/27
Home away from home
Home away from home

Saw a police car getting towed away around 4am

It was facing North and was in the ped crosswalk on the side of the median facing east.

There were like 3 flares blocking Warren southbound.

After the police car was towed another police car kept his lights flashing blocking Montgomery eastbound and he set up a lot more flares.

Also police tape.

Anyone know what happened?
