I sent a complaint to http://www.panynj.gov/feedback.php

Here is the response:

Thank you for your feedback. Beginning with the April 14 morning rush, our new Vesey Street entrance was opened and the Church Street Station entrance was closed. PATH management staff have been meeting with New York City Transit Authority, local police, and the Department of Transportation to improve the crowding issues that have resulted from this change of entrance due to the necessary construction of the WTC Transportation Hub, scheduled for completion in 2011. Construction plans were developed in such a way that service to the station continues without interruption -- in much the same way as the original WTC station was constructed. Rest assured that we will do all in our power to improve your commute as we work towards completing major construction milestones while keeping PATH operational throughout.

Thank you for your input and please do not hesitate to contact PATH with any issue or comment that you may have.

Sincerely,

PATH Customer Service.

The location of the exit isn't that bad. Its the horrible crowd control at Church street. They *had* to know that there would be thousands of people trying to make it through the narrow opening.

They should have closed another lane of traffic on church so people could walk south. This would cause less people waiting at church and keep things moving.

I sent feedback on that link, I hope everyone else does as well. Maybe the news will pick up on the mess.

Seems like NJ is getting ripped off.

According to the wiki page the superindent job is more than a 40 hour a week job, there is no way you could do this job effectively and hold down another post.

People need to think of this when they pay their NJ income + property taxes.

Next time someone complains about lack of funding for schools I'm going to point them to this article.

Is Epps part of the teachers union? I'm surprised they allow the superintendents to get away with this.

New WTC Path exit
Home away from home
Home away from home

So, who takes the Path to WTC everyday? What do you think of the new exit?

Personally I think the new exit is a complete disaster. Was there *any* foresight or planning involved?

If you were unfortunate enough to be at the exit at 9:00am this morning you would have seen a queue of people from Church all the way down to the exit. People were just standing because of the light at church, nowhere to go.

I realize that this is temporary but they could have done some basic planning. Anyone who travels this route every day could have told you that it would be a mess at the church street light.

Maybe we can all come together and get a fund raiser together to clean up grafitti and with the extra money we can open a whole foods and maybe even a wine tasting event(for those that dont know, im being sarcastic). I can completley understand if this was being done to your house other than that maybe you need to go back to a suburb.

Driving down erie and stopping at every cross walk when there is nobody crossing is just as dangerous as not stopping.

People not paying attention will rear-end you.

Just drive down erie at 25mph and if there is someone crossing , gently slow to a stop to let them cross.

Don't get your hopes up with Comcast HDTV. AVSFORUM has a comparison between FIOS and Comcast quality. You can see that Comcast highly compresses their HD feed. Its kinda pointless to invest in higher quality equipment and then degrade the signal so badly.

That is the problem. You get paid more for sitting at home pumping out babies than you do with a real job. Welfare discourages getting a real job and breeds apathy.

I have no problem temporarily helping people so that the family doesn't enter a crisis (similar to a run on a bank). But long term benefits are unsustainable.

I say cut spending all the time. We have WAY to many wasteful programs. The only ones you hear on the news are when hospitals get cut and everyone gets scared.

There is so much waste its ridiculous. Its always so easy to just pass the blame to the rich. Let them pay for everything. I'm not rich (Probably nobody on this board is), but raising taxes on the rich isn't the answer.

The reason I opt for Erie is that I have a slightly better chance of being succesful passing through the intersection by the east bound traffic, Holland Tunnel entrance. The Port Authority police are very lax ticketing drivers who "block the box".

I agree, the intersection of Marin and 12th is a mess, cars continually block the box and people turn right in the straight lane when they are not supposed to. I use Erie to avoid this intersection.

If costs are an issue and there is a high % of people breaking the law on Erie why doesn't further enforcement take care of both problems? The city gains money from speeding and parking tickets and residents feel comfortable with the prevention and the visual display of enforcement.

Also, I agree that speed bumps do cause issues with old homes. My old place rattles badly if trucks pass over small pot holes. I can't imagine how bad it would be if they went over large bumps.

Either way, I appreciate the effort Mr Fulop.

Re: Stop Signs on Erie Street - Steven FUlop

I also agree with no additional stop signs on Erie.

My proposal:

1) To stop speeding, setup routine speed traps on Erie. The city makes money and people will learn not to speed. We have existing laws to deal with this issue.

2) To deal with people wanting to cross or merge onto erie: Paint parking spot grids (as they do in Hoboken) all the way up and down Erie. If you park outside this boundary you will get a hefty ticket and/or a boot/tow.

My point is that we have laws on the books to deter behavior, they should be used effectively before adding new signs/laws.

I just saw this yesterday at Staples. A perfectly healthy (looking) couple parked in the handicapped spot and proceeded to walk into the store.

I try not to judge as I see this because you can't no everyone's situation but I'm sure there are 1000's of people who think they have to the right to park in a hc spot because they have a piece of plastic hanging from their mirror.

Why don't you look at putting a sign at the gate between the parking lot and the bank. Something eye catching that says that your car will be towed if you are going to the mall.

Get the towing company where it hurts, their pockets.

We already have a union/antiunion thread here on jclist but I just want to make a point that while Whole Foods and Trader Joes are not unionized, WF is considered to one of the BEST places to work in the USA.

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortun ... anies/snapshots/1575.html

Just because a store is not unionized does not mean that the employees are treated poorly.

I think most of us would agree that shopping at a WF is a much better experience than shopping at a SR from a employee interaction perspective. The employees at WF are happy to work there because they are treated well by the CEO. The employees at SR are contempt and apathetic because they are in a union and there is no recourse for poor performance.

I will always support companies that treat their employees well because it is the RIGHT thing to do, not because the members have been coerced into paying a fee to a power greedy group.

Re: Barack Obama for President

Its less important to break down Wrights words in detail, anyone listening to him would know he has some serious problems.

The problem I have with Obama is that there is no way he could have listened to 20 years worth of this and not have some belief in Wrights words.

What I would like to know, and what Obama has failed to deliver, is what was going on in his (Obahma's) head when while Wright was giving these sermons. I'd also like to know what his kids and wife were thinking. Were they clapping and hollering like the rest of the people? Or were they sitting in disgust listening to these bigoted words.
