Are they 3 blocks away from a gigantic MALL? Maybe that has something to do with it....?

Councilman Fulop-

It's hard to tell from the drawings and the copy on the page -- does anything in the conceptual stage right now include any part of Newark Avenue being closed off to automobile traffic?

Newark Ave. is one of the few major east/west arteries running through the city into downtown. It makes no sense at all to consider a pedestrian mall there.

Somebody who makes sense. *sigh*

So it's okay to vote for one-issue candidates, as long as they're republicans?

Right. That's what I thought.

Possibly a republican looking to run on a big ticket item like this.

I think the whole block should be razed and turned into an open green park... that would revitalize the square. Maybe put in some basketball courts and a playground and a dog run. Right now, you have a windswept plaza, fountain and several falling down properties. The neighborhood needs a park.

A park in the midst of a bus terminal and a major PATH terminus makes no sense. Can't tell if i should read your post to be sarcastic, or just miguided. Putting a park there would be akin to only using the ground zero site for park purposes -- nice as the sentiment might be, the property is simply too valuable to become park space.
