Really? I used to have them all over to my place all the time. We would all hang out, watch TV , have a few beers and eat cheese doodles. Then one of them peed on my carpet one night and I had to put a stop to it.

no tax rebate = instant huge tax increase - but not really, it's just that NJ cannot afford to give us our "gift bonus" this year. FIX THE TAXES and keep your freakin rebates!

I think with the right lawyer he can blame this on a medical condition and maybe even snag a lucrative spokesperson gig in the process.

A bladder control problem is something you can worry less about.

Are you always:

* Rushing to the bathroom?
* Urinating off the balcony at crowded tribute band rock concerts?
* Worrying about having an accident when you?re out with friends?
* Concerned that other people may notice your frequent trips to the bathroom?
* Bothered by having to get up at night?

OAB is very common. It affects 1 in 6 men and women in the US.

Many people think that as you age it?s normal to get a bladder control problem. Maybe your mother or grandmother had it. But the fact is, your bladder control problem may be a medical condition called overactive bladder (OAB).

It was not just any tribute band, it was a "Grateful Dead" tribute band. Does the man have NO shame, or taste? Peeing off the balcony is awesome but not awesome enough to cancel out attending a Grateful Dead show.

Teen worker robbed of store cash

Tuesday, November 04, 2008
By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

An 18-year-old shoe store employee was robbed at gunpoint after she left Jersey City's Newport Centre Mall Saturday night with the day's receipts, officials said.

When police responded to the bank behind the mall at 9:45 p.m., the woman said she left the mall with $1,162 in her purse and as she went to the night deposit slot of the bank a man wearing a motorcycle helmet approached her and stuck the muzzle of a revolver into her rib cage, reports said.

When she didn't hand over the cash, she and the robber began to struggle and he put her in a headlock before snatching the money from her purse, reports said.

He ran to a nearby motorcycle and rode away southbound on Washington Boulevard, reports said.

Why would a business owner send an 18 year old girl out in the dark with all that cash? It would be safer locked up in the store over night. And why would anyone start a tussle with someone who is sticking a gun in your ribs? Me? I woulda handed over the boss's money pronto, but then again, I'm not an 18 year old girl.

I am monitoring all four JC police districts and Bayonne. There is no indication of any mass shootings. The cops are busy chasing egg throwers. Tom, you are no Orson Wells.

If you build bus shelters they will all reek of bum pee in a matter of days. No one will stand in them anyway. They would prefer to stand in the pouring rain and howling wind. It is an exercise in futility. If you build it they will pee in it.

Actually, their mission is to kill 35 virgins. There is nothing to worry about, it is an impossibility in JC. No one will be harmed.

YOU are a DOPE. No, that's not how you do it. You go in Bed Bath and Beyond FIRST and leave the bag on the seat in full view. Then go into the mall and maybe, but unlikely, you will not be towed.

You don't have to like them. Go there and treat them like a bum at a drive up donut window. Wear your best most expensive clothing and jewelry. If you don't have any, borrow some. Arrange to have someone call your cell in the middle of their sales speil and take the call, mention large sums of money and drop some celebrity names. Keep an impatient annoyed expression on your face. The kind of face you make when you smell something bad. They want YOUR money and they will kiss your ass to get it.

Re: RUDE UPS deliveryman
Home away from home
Home away from home

They do this routinely. I have often waited all day for a package while tracking its delivery status online. Status will suddenly change to Receiver Unavailable, usually around 6-6:30, quitting time. Doorbell never rang, no delivery notice, sometimes I'm even hanging around outside in front of the house at the time delivery was allegedly attempted. I know their tricks. The drivers don't seem to realize that those electronic signiture devices they use upload very quickly. Next time you sign for a package, log on and track the status, you will see Delivered within minutes. When I'm expecting a package, if I have time, I usually run the guy down on his route and get the package off the truck before he has a chance to take it back to Secaucus and lock it up in package jail. Have you ever gone out to Secaucus to pick up a package? It is a huge pain in the ass. Sometimes the line is out the door into the parking lot. They act as if they're doing you a favor giving you YOUR package that you paid a hefty shipping charge for. The whole system sucks, it just doesn't work for home delivery and they won't deliver on Saturday. They would be better off eliminating half their drivers and just having local neighborhood pickup sites that are open after hours and weekends.

Re: Rear Addition - Neighbors Windows?

One solution would be for you and your neighbor to share the window. It would be like a communal window in the common wall. Do you think they would agree to that? An added advantage would be that you would not have to use the phone if you wanted to talk to him. Just open the window and yell into his house. The only problem would be if one of you wanted to put an air conditioner in the window but there is a solution for that too. You would alternate weekly. One week you get the cool side in your house and the next week you turn it around the other way and get the hot exhaust. See, you can both have a window and not have to hate each other. It's an elegant solution if I do say so myself. Hope this helps.

What you have to understand is sometimes "snitching" on the person that robbed, shot or assualted you leads to more violence against you. For example lets say he told the police he knew who the man that shot him was and where he lived. Lets pretend he is actually arrested, he would probably make bail and want revenge. On top of that the man who shot him would put the word on the street that the victim is a "snitch". This makes you a target for assualts and robberies from other people that might not even know the victim or suspect but will victimize you because you are a known "snitch". Then you have to worry about the suspects friends that dont want to see him go to prison by a "snitch" that might be willing to seriously injure or kill to silence you. Then once the suspect recieves the witness statements from his lawyer now he will have a copy of what he said, his full name and address (assuming he didnt know). So sometimes doing the right thing has more negetives then positives. It is easy to see why someone wouldnt risk there safety of life to possibly be able to put someone in prison for a couple years.

So, essentially, what you are saying is "the terrorists have won".

Re: What Jersey City Restaurant Do You Miss the Most?

The Yum Yum truck. The yum yum truck was parked on Palisade Ave. in Washington Park (we always called it North St. Park). It was actually about 30' over the Union City border. It was an old walk in van, like a bread delivery truck and painted yellow. It never moved, I don't think it ran at all. It actually had electric service wired from the pole so it couldn't move even if it wanted to. They sold hot dogs and yum yum ices (Italian ice). They must have had some unusual agreement with the county ($$$$) because it was parked on county property. The Yum Yum Truck was a permanent fixture in that same spot from the 50's through the late 90's.

I'm loving this thread! Haven't thought about many of these places in a long time!

Star's was a bar on the western end of Newark Ave. just west of Tonnelle. They were known for their hot dogs. They had a very long bar. I think the sign with the hot dog is still on the building. The Texas weiner place on Central was across from the police station and I think was just named Texas Weiners.
