Allegany wood doors out of Pennsylvania. Look them up on the web. These are amazing doors I used them in my house.

Just to comment about the thought about the keys being copied. There are no keys it's an electronic card access just like a hotel where they change the access every time there is a new renter. Good luck.

I recently had some family stay at this brownstone in van vorst. If you go on homeaway.com and look up places in jersey city you will find it. It's an amazing restored apartment that sleeps 4 in two bedrooms. You have a full functioning kitchen so they can make there own meals. It's a nice alternative to a hotel. I forget the rates but it was very comparatively to the hotels. The place is super over the top in restoration and furnishing.

Re: Australians investors buying up Jersey City housing

I am all for people investing in JC, either a corporation or an individual trying to start their family here. That being said, I don?t think this is a good thing for JC, its stopping good families from buying a home here. Neighborhoods improve when you have home ownership, schools do better, etc?

But I also don?t see how this company is going to be successful in the long run. They have bought SO MUCH stuff in some not so desirable neighborhoods. The amount of money that supports the lawyers, property management, etc? is huge. Sure they can always sell off the properties downtown but the other areas is going to be a tough sell.

For downtown the Australians and the rest of the world, there is this a real fact that property in the US is much cheaper then elsewhere. It is only a matter of time that we follow suite. The Australian dollar is twice that of the US and they are finding the results to good to be true.

I live in downtown JC in Hamilton park but used to own on Ogden Ave in the Heights. I LOVE that street. Everyone was super friendly, sure your don't have all the luxuries that downtown has but it is very nice.

Re: Do I need a permit to replace a hot water heater?

Yes you need a permit but if you have a single family in the state of NJ then you don't need to be licensed for any work you do in your own single family home.

But that being said there is no way I would apply for a permit and get that inspected. It is mindless to replace a hot water heater. I would not apply for any permit that I know I could get away without the DOB snooping around my house. Just so my taxes can go up more. No thanks.

I love all you people who knows what its like to buy a gun. Its the same here in NJ as it is in Texas. You go to a store, you fill out the paperwork, they call the FBI, the FBI says ya or nay and you walk out the store. Its the same across the country. Now the talk about gun shows, well that is almost the same across the country. Heres how; private sales of guns is allowed in every state, the only thing is here in NJ they don't allow a group of people to come to a designated area and sell their guns but if I put out a classified add and someone calls then its ok. Some states have permits but all the permit does is the same the FBI background check does except take a few more days to process but once you have the permit its the same as any place else. And all this talk about automatic weapons, you can't buy them since the 1920's, now they are semi automatic, which means one round per one press of the trigger.

But it doesn't so get over it. They are here to stay and you will never ever get rid of them. There are more then 300 million of them and no one will ever give them up. Its just not going to happen.

Oh you don't like the idea that I choose on my own to stay in my house to protect my property.

Ok...LA riots...These acts of civil unrest can happen and if they do I don't want to rely on a single action pee shooter.

You are not familiar with the recent supreme court ruling. Its not a militia per say but an individual right. And the issue with a semi automatic also came into play which is constitutional.

And yes if someone broke into my house and I felt my life or my family was in danger I would shoot them.

The 2nd amendment is not about deer hunting. So get that out of your head.

When the levies broke in New Orleans and the cops ran away and the looters and criminals took to the streets. If you decided to stay and protect your property. I can guarantee that you wish you had that AK-47 with a 30 round mag (sorry multiple) and 6000 rounds.

It could happen here as any place else.

As long as you are paying taxes on your property and its not for some form of municipality need then the government should back off. This was plain theft and he should be given more then fair market value especially since he didn't want to sell it.

This is why law abiding citizens need to be able to protect themselves against low lives like these guys, this state needs to allow LAW ABIDING CITIZENS to have the option of getting a concealed permit.

I am glad to see you are so willing to give your freedoms away. I know exactly what the laws are and I am trying to let others know the mindless, idiotic laws that the communist state on NJ has on its books. I have always and will continue to advocate that responsible trained individuals have an inalienable right to protect themselves in their home and outside of it.

I would rather trust myself in a defensive situation then a lot of the cops I see out there. When your life is on the line, no one appreciates it more then the person fighting for it.

That being said, it is not for everyone and in no way am I trying to take the law into my own hands. There is great responsibility with carrying a gun as well as driving a car.

Don?t you feel betrayed that 1500 people are more important then yourself. I am extremely annoyed that those 1#?ers are giving the opportunity. There are 38 states where shall issue is law to anyone who wants a concealed carry permit as long as they are law abiding citizen. There are another 6 that no permit is even required and then there is NJ, NJ and CA which don?t trust their citizens.

Aren?t you upset that you can?t take your registered handgun across state lines even is you own a home in another state. That is ridiculous especially after going through all the paperwork that NJ requires. I had to have three neighbors and my employer verify along with FBI and finger prints before they would even consider me for my handgun and yes I know how to use it.

Thank God the women are ok, but if I were in that situation I can tell you I would have wished I was allowed to have a concealed weapon. Remember when guns are outlawed, only criminals will have them. Talk to your lawmakers to tell them responsible law abiding citizens have a right to defend themselves.

Re: Jersey City readies for gun buyback

Just can't stay away

Gun buy back programs are a waste of money. Anyone who is anyone knows that they will get more money if they bring it to a gun store. If it illegal then they can a lot more selling illegally again. So the majority of guns they get are junk.

Contact your politicians and let them know that law abiding citizens should be able to protect themselves with a concealed weapons permit. It works in the rest of the country.
