No cop is handing out tickets or stopping motorists. My friend and I just spent an hour and a half trying to get to Hoboken to pick up his car from the garage but the cops are not letting anyone in.

The only place to get Rodizio is the Brasilia Grill in Newark. Eat at the bar, it's cheaper. Plus you get to flirt with the Brazilian bartenders.

In the not unlikely scenario that the machine sweeps the election next year, is the city better off with a full slate of Healy cronies or a slate with one or two reformers add to it?

Its nice to live in the fantasy land of Ward E where Steve Fulop turns water to wine and shits rose petals, but there are a lot of people outside of Ward E who don't even know who he is. Despite the vehement hatred of Healy and cronyism represented on this board, Healy and his team still have a high chance of winning.

Healy's possible inclusion of "reformers" on his ticket is a victory onto itself. The very fact that the machine would consider bringing in outsiders indicates the threat they represent to the ticket.

Simply because a person joins a slate, that doesn't automatically make them a puppet of the machine. Several people with wildly different ideas can still run on the same ticket. Just look at the national Democratic or national Republican party. A Democrat in New Jersey looks nothing like a Democrat in Texas, just like a Republican from New Jersey looks nothing like a Republican from Kansas. But everyone still ends up running under the same label.

There is a very real possibility Team Fulop loses everything next year. While one or two reform candidates on the Healy team may not be enough to overthrow his administration, its certainly better than simply a handpicked slate running the city without any voice of opposition.

You can play soccer anywhere - just set up some goals, cones and you've got a pick-up game. I had to do this a lot for my daughter growing up in Hamilton Park and the surrounding area.

Organized soccer is a little tougher. It takes a lot of space and maintenance for a real soccer field, costs money.

Write your councilman - I always see Healy and Fulop in the JCSA ceremonies professing how much they love soccer, support it, blah blah blah.

Contact Coach Alex Lalaoui of the Soccer Learning Center and he can hook anyone up for a program or game.

How about Korean/American steam table buffet? There is Liberty Towers Gourmet Market at 33 Hudson St, Canova Inc at 30 Montgomery St, and Exchange Market Place at 10 Exchange Place. You pay by the pound. They usually have some fried rice, lo mein, general tso's chicken, etc.

Just curious, I've never been there, but why did you say it's Korean/American? Lo Mein, Fried Rice and Gen Tso is Chinese.

Do they also have Kalbi or Bulgoki or anything Korean?

I remember a similar scenario when we were kids - a couple of my uncles took a dozen eggs and "marinated" them in urine for a couple of days. They make for a very effective but non-lethal anti-nuisance device...

heights: some people love to eat a variety of foods, it's an adventure. I myself love these food trucks, especially the Krave. I also eat regularly at Komegashi, Buon Appetitto, Embankment, White Star, Skinner's Loft, Arthurs, Grand Sichuan, Sawadee, Five Guys, among others.

The real junk food is McDonalds - that's unhealthy, (althoough sometimes I will eat Wendy's)

Re: Garbage on the ground and sidewalks everywhere

I bought a corner house downtown in 1996 where there's a lot of foot traffic. In the first 10 years or so, I cleaned up after every ignorant pig that dropped empty Newport cigarette boxes, cans of Coca-Cola on my wall, broken bottles of Corona and Heineken, candy wrappers, etc.

There was once this a$$hole who threw an empty bag of chips as I was sweeping the sidewalk, and when I asked him to pick it up, he replied "you got a problem?". He was lucky I wasn't 20 years younger or he would've had a fractured skull.

So - a few years ago, I just gave up, as I am tired of cleaning up after the Pigs that live/pass by around my home.

It's Jersey City. If I really can't stand it, I'll move to Bernardsville.

finally had the chance to have lunch - we ordered the Korean barbecued beef and Honey Duck. Good decent food, came with an appetizer and choice of soup or salad(which was fresh and plentiful). The servings were large and tasty, cooked properly with the right amount of seasoning.

Will have to try the other items to give a full impression.

Decor was excellent, ambiance was correct. We were the one group out of two in an early lunch on a Tuesday, but service was attentive.

One issue is the tables on the booths - they kinda leaned when you put weight on them and if you're cutting something on your plate, the whole table would shake.

Had some takeout tonight, Sunday evening is a great time to order, no waiting.

Excellent Chinatown style noodle soup and rice dishes. Anything with duck is good, and the roast pork is very tasty, all cooked to perfection. Dumplings are okay. Priced right, it's a great place to have a quick meal - nothing fantastic, just good simple food. No credit cards accepted at this time.

Great addition to the neighborhood.

Had both the Spicy and the Soy wings, both are excellent - really crispy wings, incredibly yummy, although at $19.99 for 20 pieces, they're not cheap. Definitely worth it.

I wouldn't have it delivered esp. it's starting to get cold, the delivery guy is on a bicycle without any protective carrying device on it.

Re: HUGE GAS LINE COMING? Companies look to run natural gas pipeline through Jersey City

Letter from Steven Fulop:

Dear residents,

Houston, Texas-based Spectra Energy wants to build a major natural gas pipeline expansion to New York City that will run through the heart of Jersey City. Jersey City will bear tremendous risks with no reward, all for the benefit of New York City and Spectra.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, August 4th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Ferris High School, 35 Colgate Street. We need your presence to stop this pipeline or your written objection for the record by Aug. 4th. This will likely be the only public meeting to make your objections known.

IF you cannot make the meeting WE NEED YOU TO SEND A LETTER!!! We need to show that the community is against this.

1) Email FERC at efiling@ferc.gov and include docket number, PF10-17-000, Spectra Energy Natural Gas Pipeline in your subject line or in the body of your message.

OR

2) Send a letter

Your letter must be sent by Aug 4th and ask to be part of ?JC scoping transcript for Aug 4th mtg.?

Include the docket number, PF10-17-000 on your original and two copies. Address one copy of your letter to the attention of Gas Branch 3 DG2E.

Send all 3 letters to:

Kimberly D. Bose Secretary
FERC
888 First St. NE
Room 1A
Washington, DC 20426

Sample Letter:

?I object to the proposed Spectra Natural Gas Pipeline in Jersey City as it is to be built through some of Jersey City's most densely populated and historic neighborhoods. An explosion here would likely be far more deadly than elsewhere in the state. Carcinogenic toxins released into the air from the metering station and block valves become air-borne endangering the health of all residents throughout Jersey City.

*The planned expansion will pass through or nearby a number of heavy industrial and chemical plants and in close proximity to Homeland Security Department designated Tier 1 & Tier 2 Critical Infrastructure. An explosion near any of these facilities could be catastrophic. The city?s economic engine ? Wall Street back offices along the waterfront and major infrastructure such as the Holland Tunnel and the NJ Turnpike Extension could be severely affected by an incident.

*According to the Wall Street Journal, there were 47 pipeline incidents in the U.S. in 2009 that caused death or serious injury. In just three incidents alone this year, 10 people have been killed and 33 seriously injured.?

Sign your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number to this letter

For more information and to stay up to date, please consider joining the
Jersey City NO Gas Pipelines online discussion group at http://groups.google.com/ group/jerseycitygas

Sincerely,

Councilman Steven Fulop and staff

Thanks, noticed that today. Wonder why? It doesn't make sense to have a flashing red on the Erie side, that will just back traffic up some more during rush hour.

Not that it'll matter much, few understood the flashing yellow anyway.
