1. Resignation may be considered as a failure in two cases: (a) if she was forced to resign, - which did not happen, (b) if you consider "attaining the power" to be the measure of ultimate success in itself. That is a possible point of view, but I do not share it. 2. "Women"? Sorry, but I do not subscribe to the idea that genitalia defines a person, - specifically, defines person's political views. Anyway, did you not notice how big is her influence among conservatives right now? And, if she was that much of a failure, - how come Democrats show very strong visceral reaction every time she is mentioned? I have observed very, very few conservatives that trigger this sort of hateful reaction, - and hate is a first and most reliable tell of fear. 3. Well, yeah, if you describe it THAT way, it sounds bad. However, if you describe it in neutral terms: "was invited to share her views by the TV channel with the largest audience" - that sounds quite successful. Now, the money. Say, she did not steal her money, did she? The only reason she's a millionaire is - people paid her. For whatever she gave them in return. You do not approve her views, you do not like that she shares them with others, you do not like that people listen to her, and you do not like that they pay her for what she delivers for them, - fine. You are free to like or dislike anything you want. But when you say "it is not a success when half of the country pays someone millions just to hear her views" - think about it calmly. Does this idea sound right?

Let's test this hypothesis, shall we? Hmmm... But how? Oh! Here is an idea! Donald was not the only son of Fred's. Since his siblings shared equally in the "most successful endeavor" of his, they must have reached equally prominent results. Which means, you should be able to give me their names without any googling. Want to try?

That may be. However, you are aware that outside of that imaginary world they both have been quite successful in other endeavors, no?

Try this, - look over this here thread on this fine message board. Think about it. Photoshopped pictures. It was not the most brilliant joke two years ago. And this is the background that you chose for a "dumb and dumber" comment? I understand that you disagree with their politics. However, this disagreement should not impair your ability to soberly evaluate things, no?

Why would we want to allow our government to change the rules without announcing it widely? No, seriously, - what would be the goal there?

If they were, we would not be discussing this case here, now would we? Previously, a driver was allowed to estimate speeds and distances and to decide whether it is safe to continue, or to slow down, or to stop. Now, the decision is taken from the driver altogether.

Simple. This is not a "basic driving law in every state" and it is a relatively new law in New Jersey. The law was changed a year ago. Used to be "yield", now it is "stop". And I do not remember any big announcements about the change either. And it is not just me. Judging by your unequivocal pronouncement, it is as much news to you as to the person you blame.

What's the connection? Mayor's office is a purely decorative position that we vote for just to show our loyalty to one or other political party. We are not going to deny our federal politicians this show of support just because some guy claims that... Wait, let me make it clear, - are you sure that the mayor is somehow involved in the actual management of the sanitation department?

Exactly. We have three pieces here: tools, teachers and students. As far as tools go, - my teachers proved quite conclusively that great results can be achieved with nothing more than a piece of chalk and a blackboard. That gives us an estimate of the funding needed to buy tools. Teachers. One of the two things ought to be true. Either (1) if we increase funding, they promise to fire current teachers and hire new better ones, or (2) current teachers are fully capable of achieving good results, but are not doing it because this is their way to negotiate better wages. Students. My question is, - do those students make full use of what they are offered right now? If not, then the bottleneck is not "school offers too little".
