Re: Hudson County employee is charged with stealing tires from Department of Public Works garage

Where I work, we employ a lot of "gray area" people. They get paid minimum wage, and work their ass off for it. The problem is the boss takes too much from the company. In the end we don't have enough money for payroll often. Sometimes people end up stealing just to make end meet. I am in no way justifying what this guy did, but it shouldn't be a surprise, especially now, that this is going to happen. whatever happened to paying a fair wage and not the minimum you could get away with.

What he said. You have to use Verizon's modem but then you can hook up your router to it, and you'll be good to go.

Re: Someone hit my parked car for the 2nd time in 4 years.......

I have been in this situation a few times myself. I got tired of forking over the deductible every few months, so at the advice of I lowered my deductible for vandalism. Increased my premium only a few $$$, but the next time someone hits my car or breaks my windows, I will only be paying $100 instead of $500, much easier to swallow.

Of course I just wish people would have enough respect for other peoples property not to hit cars, and if they did to leave a note.

I remember coming back from a ride down river road and seeing signs pointing to the new bridge. I thought, awesome it's open, but I was denied. looks like they need to remove some temporary construction walls. I think they plan to go around back of the train tracks between the water.

Stay as far as possible from here on the 1st of the month. I had the unfortunate timing to end up in BJ's and Shoprite on the 1st of this month. Now I have seen these places crowded before, but on food stamp day it is insane. everyone has at least 2 carts, usually more, over flowing with junk food. When I walked into BJ's I had never seen the lines to check out so long.

This is not correct. If you do not have a lease you are considered a "month to month" tenant. By law you must give 30 days notice. If you had a lease, the lease would say how much notice you had to give. Usually a month, but it varies.

This is a good site if you need help with NJ law

Re: New corsswalk on Erie

I guess I was more curious as to why they decided to do this @ 3rd and Erie. Seems like a odd place to put one in. The crosswalk at 8th and Erie makes more sense. The brick looks nice, now if they could do the rest of Erie, it would like it was planned, instead of the half a$$ed job the JC does most of the time.

Saw they put a new brick crosswalk at 3rd and Erie last week. Why? I think it looks nice, but just a little out of place. Are the rest of the intersections going to be done? and how did this get accomplished in 2 days when it takes months to repair even a small portion of a sidewalk that has been ripped up.

Faster download/upload speeds are only relevant if you are using torrent streams a lot and I would bet you most here on jclist wouldn't know a torrent stream if it bit em in the butt!

never mind that Comcast is still "filtering" traffic. If you use VOIP (other than what is provided by Comcast) play games online, stream content to your TV or computer, or you're downloading torrents Comcast deems that traffic to have less priority over it's networks, and puts a speed limit on those types of traffic. This practice is left over from when Comcast was illegally these types of traffic. They were sued and lost. They came up with this new idea, and say that they can tell the difference between torrent traffic, and anything else, and will only block torrent traffic. Comcast has not been able to and will never be able to tell the difference. To Comcast it just looks like someone is using a LOT of bandwidth and they will put a speed limit on your whole line.

Sorry but I would much rather be with a company that told the RIAA t 'F' off when they asked for user data based on IP's. I tell the Verizon guy in BJ's all the time that I would willingly pay any early disconnect fee to never have to deal/ talk to the water heads at Comcast again.

Very true, but it isn't a huge waste. The building has become a contingency space for goldman (in addition to their other location in Connecticut. There a fair amount of people who are there daily, but there are also vast empty floors that are just waiting for people to sit down and keep trading.

Sorry, but I like the way the building looks. The lobby is really well done, and made great use of some new materials. As far as GS being greedy....welcome to america. There is nothing wrong with greed, or capitalism. Granted GS does have a abnormally high number of people associated with out current administration, but they just happen to be in the right place with the right plan, and an a$$ ton of money to spend. GS is an easy target right now, just because of their huge profits. They payed back the TARP money, they can essentially do what they want. There will always be someone on top who has people nipping at their heels trying to knock them down. If it were you as the head of a multi-national massive investment bank, I bet there would be a few people like MR. Taibbi who think they know the whole story.

...BTW I do not and have never worked for GS. Hell I'm not even an investment banker

That is the google map of the turn (corect me if I'm wrong). If you check the street view it looks to me like there is a no turn on red sign there on the corner.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the run down park on 1st st. between Colgate and Monmouth? It looks like something out of Silent Hill. Seems like it has a lot of potential to be a great neighborhood park.

Does the lack of renovation have anything to do with the house next door that looks like it is falling over?
