Has anyone else noticed that cars are now driving and parking IN the protected bike lanes forcing riders to move out into traffic? Because I have on a daily basis.

Can they be cited by traffic regulations?

I know... you can't fix rude, stupid and dangerous.

No, not in my neighborhood. Your point is what?

Has anyone else noticed bike riders not using the spaces just for them? Can they be cited by traffic regulations?

Yesterday a woman bike rider was riding eastbound on the Grand Street sidewalk in Paulus Hook. I had to stop to let her by and I gave her and earful telling her to use her well marked bike lane. The eastbound pedestrians she was weaving through heard me and agreed.

Earlier this week I saw 2 bike riders in one 10 minute walk to PATH riding on the sidewalk... but the clincher was the 3rd guy using the bike lane who blew by the crossing guard trying to stop him @ intersect of Grand and Washington.

The rider had the east bound stop light (as did cars) and rode around the crossing guard (arm extended in the middle of the bike path) while families were crossing the street, headed to the school at the corner.

I know... you can't fix rude, stupid and dangerous.

Stop blaming the plaza for failed businesses. Pedestrian plazas exist ALL over the world with much success so not sure why JC is the exception according to you and other naysayers. Plaza isn't going anywhere so just deal with it.

This. Yvonne and her servants (most notably that Two Boots owner) are having a meltdown over the forthcoming renovation work and are trying to blame each and every problem a business has on it. It?s been a wild success but a small fraction of NIMBYs feel ever so slightly inconvenienced by it and feel it was much better when it was full of homeless people, ghetto fast food chains and dollar stores and idling double parked cars.

Of course you can - with an extra serving of phorid flies!

Did you know that some species of phorid flies are known as "coffin flies" because they can live and flourish in the cavity of a dead person who is buried? I am fun at parties.

With that wee bit of entomology insight, I think you have inadvertently have uncovered the final resting place for many Jersey City political careers. I smell a cover up involving the Mayor's office.

Link to AirBNB voting.... The question is going down in most districts by YES significant margins. Districts where NO won are close by 2 or 3 votes... Makes you wonder ?

In the middle there was real bad photo of the Mayor and a paragraph about Dixon being the "lead" (whatever that is) in building the summer house in RI.

No idea what the point of it was but it sounds like one of the "JC Good Govt. Committees" is getting pretty desperate about something. Gotta love Hudson County Politics!

If the city wants to do something positive... they need to regulate the mailing/distribution of campaign literature. I am throwing stuff away daily, not even reading it.

Also today, coming home from work, I was greeted at my front door by a nice young lady looking for me. At first I thought she might be an Amazon Driver. She is working on the the Air BNB question and wanted to know who I was voting for... I told her undecided which she entered into her little handheld device.

As we said goodbye she handed me more literature. I could not tell you what side she worked on... it went straight in the garbage. Now I am worried my answer has invited a more intense response... I am open to gift cards. :)

It is a bad location. You would think that with all the weekend PATH traffic being directed to that ferry stop and the number of public invited "social events" being held weekly in that huge rotunda space that they would have developed some sort of following. It's a tough business.

The ferry is relatively stress free and more reliable.... and I think the bus that shuttles ferry passengers is free.

Why not take Path to WTC all the northbound MTA connections are there?

Have to agree... the whole identity politics thing is quite boring. Everyone has a chip on their shoulder these days. The most minor incidents of poor service in a restaurant are called out as racism / homophobia whatever .... when most likely the service sucks for everyone. It's Burger King!

And when will the SJMedia Yahoo stop posting stories about a servers being called racist names and stiffed on a tips? After posting a receipt on FB, the next thing the "victim" does is set up a Go-Fund-Me account.

Seems like all of this can be dealt with by developing a learning curriculum to teach kids about respecting themselves and others.... start it at kindergarten and keep expanding to the high school years where teens can get credit for volunteering time to the community. For some "adults" today it maybe to late, but you have to start somewhere.

Better remove that Alabama flag too, it's got bars (although no stars) just like Mississippi. Same with Florida, we can't have that, so offensive. While we're at it, take down Hawaii, it's got the flag of Great Britain in the upper left corner, that's an insult to our independence as a nation. That Washington, DC flag, with three red stars and two red stripes, looks kind of communist, don't know if we should have that either. Oh, and the flag of Iowa, with a blue, white and red vertical stripe would make me think it's the flag of France were it not for the eagle in the middle. People might have issues with that too.

So glad our governor has his priorities straight.

This one act probably took him and his staff (the ones not raping women) months figure out.... which completely took them away from their business of running the state.

So I guess there is a positive benefit to this foolishness...

Nothing whiny or smug about it, you asked a question that made it clear your concept of JC ended at the Tpk, that you'd never gone beyond, like "there be dragons". Don't take it out on me.

It's like the classic New Yorker cover, except the Tpk is a stand-in for the Hudson.

I hate to have to break it to you, but there's more to both JC and Grand St than Downtown. That section is up by Arlington Park. The plan as described sounds very much like the changes to Observer Highway in Hoboken east of Marin. Wasn't the end of the world, but I think there's more traffic on Grand.

If there is any justice... I would like to see the obstructionist Federal Court in San Francisco slap an injunction on the DHS preventing the illegals from coming into sanctuary city San Francisco or the surrounding counties.

No reason why the border states should bear the burden of this illegal activity. There is plenty of open space in Lincoln Park. It would only be temporary
