Ok, we agree then. Thanks for clarifying. They should just shut it all down, nobody needs these festivals. Waste of time and money. They are all the same terrible music and mostly terrible food mixed with drunken violence that infiltrates neighborhoods that don't welcome it.

The logic is simple, and not a disservice to the IRA. I've never seen such a heavy-handed JCPD shut-down of any event at Exchange Place. The JCPD need to explain that. They f**ked up big time in my book by not even recognizing in advance that there might be a problem. And they f**ked up big time in not coordinating response with the event's organizers. I think what happened here is there were short fuses on both sides - police and attendees. And our city fuckwits failed to recognise that might happen.

If (and it's a big if) the IRA had shot someone from the JCPD, there would have been a dialogue on whether this kind of event should take place. Instead - nothing happened. You had a lot of JCPD officers on one side that just recently buried one of their own. And a bunch of guys on the other side asking questions.

For #OOPS#'s sake. Any 5-year-old moron could have predicted there'd be a problem.

Shocker!!! Why don't they have the West Indian/Caribbean festival in the West Indian/Caribbean neighborhood and not harass the waterfront with this garbage.

We definitely do not have a Golf Course. Not one that matters for the purpose of this study. Maybe one day if we can get past the clean-up and the corruption we just maybe, might have a 9 hole public course, if we're lucky but don't count on it. In fact all of Hudson County has 0 public golf courses. Damn Shame.

Here's a link to an interactive of the number of officers in American cities in 2012. Apparently JC had 798. Compared to the number of 818 after Fulop's push in class, the push doesn't seem all that impressive. Even then we are still below NYC in terms of officers per capita. JC has 37 per 10K residents and NYC is at 60. So while it's good that we are headed in the right direction, I feel that the police force should be at more like 1000-1500 officers in order to get us up to the NYC standard.

The Coffee Shop, that's not a real coffee shop, is a horrible name, reminds me of 6th borough. Can't we be a little more creative? Feels like disneyland! Fake as hell. Zero authenticity, 100% cheese. We'll see how it turns out.

I will say that anything is better than empty though!

Maritime Parc is modern clean white interior and the food is more creative and different. Liberty house is darker, warmer and more traditional, service was great at Liberty House. Depends on what your looking for.

I get you. I've BEEN you, carrying a backpack through crowded transit systems in Rome, Paris, Madrid. Put aside the fact that I was traveling for 8 weeks while you're going to work for the day, and I understand it's easy to lose your spatial awareness of that big thing on your back. You don't see it. I get that.

Nonetheless, here are a few simple steps to make us all happier:
- Remove your backpack before entering the train.
- Move smartly to the spot you're going to stand in.
- Place your backpack between your feet.
- On arriving at your destination, reverse these steps.

With this simple process, you'll reduce your footprint on the train by half. I won't spend the ride with your bag jammed into my solar plexus. And the world will continue its revolutions.

Got it? Thanks.

Fantastic! Now maybe they will replace the German escalators that are not meant to be operated in the weather that they are subjected to.
Whenever I walk past those repair guys who are ALWAYS working on those escalators I have to laugh about the fact that they must know how ridiculous it is they're there all the time, I also can't help but think about their unbelievable job security as long as the escalators remain at that location.
So stupid!

A "Stroller Mom" as opposed to a non stroller Mom? What about a stroller Dad? You have a problem with me too? You know what they say about not getting between a Bear and their young? You should know that this applies to humans too. You should be careful about there in the land of stroller parents. They could f you up.

Just because it's the law, doesn't mean it's right.

Red light cameras protect no one but city coffers and their makers.

The whole system is a rigged rip off.

We need less surveillance and more cops doing their jobs- which means in Greenville and BL stopping gangs, not hand wringing because the stroller mom had to wait three seconds to cross the street.

I applaud your effort to remove the graffiti in your neighborhood. Usually if the owner of the property is too lazy or apathetic to deal with the defacement of their property they certainly will be equally as such to someone removing the graffiti.
I find that normally these people are business owners or owners of rental buildings.
I may, or may not know someone who has also removed graffiti in their neighborhood. If you asked that someone they would probably tell you that they find the best time to remove graffiti is early saturday morning in order to avoid unnecessary confrontation.

WFT?
Are you serious?
That is the most idiotic statement I've read on here in a long time.
If someone is willing to take the initiative and be proactive in the removal or painting over of the graffiti, why would you be against it?

Waiting for the Incinerator Authority to paint over anything could take weeks.
I live it the Heights and paint over ever bit of tagging I can.
I do everything in my power to make my neighborhood nicer to live in and that means painting over this constant tagging.
It's people like you who complain and do nothing that are the scourge of our city.
Have them arrested? What an idiot.
Try to stop me from not painting over it and you'll get punched in the face.

We ordered occasionally from this place but they never updated the seamless estimated time. We ordered one night with an estimated 30-45 minutes window and the food wasn't there 2 hours later. The guys attitude when i called wasn't very helpful. Called seamless had it cancelled and refunded. Nobody told the driver he showed up and I had to tell him to take it back.
Never ordered again. That was about a year ago.

Other places I had similar issues and never order from anymore.

From what the article says, sounds like two 20 something guys got in a fight and one guy made threats. Not much of a story if you ask me. No gun present, no knife, no felony assault. This stuff happens everyday, it's not really news worthy. Not that I think that the young man shouldn't be charged but the media and social boards whip it up into something it's not.

Central avenue business district is pathetic. All it got going is old school italian food and central avenue liquors across the perishing field. Not a single decent store to shop at unless you want to buy some hoochie cheap clothing or old food, no coffee shops, no cafes (even a bagel shop!), nothing, just 99c stores. People are rude too. I hope it gets better someday, but judging on how JSQ remained the same as long as I have been here, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Roberto Clemente Field, the one the OP's talking about is the same one you are referring to on 6th and manila, one and the same. Whenever I've parked there I have assumed that I would be responsible for the damage because the signs warn as such. $250 is a really high deductible on glass, but your lucky it was just glass and not a dented roof for example.

Azul_the_Cat wrote:
I wonder if that field is anything like the baseball field on 6th and Manila? During baseball season they have signs up that you park next to the field at your own risk, and they are not responsible for damage from stray baseballs.
