Tweet pics and locations of these potholes to @terrencemcd, I saw on twitter he might be doing a story on them.

Lol are you one of the big hair girls? If so my bad, I just pasted the last link I remembered reading about them in. Did not mean to upset the link police, my sincerest apologies.

How about actually promoting their website http://bighairgirls.com instead of trying to get hits for some corny fashion blog?

b/c you can promote JC and big hair girls.

Except for the fact that 1) that's a link to a fashion blog and 2) if you have managed to find your way to JClist I'm pretty sure you don't need any more "promotion" for the city you probably already live in.

I am not well-versed on the issue but from just the cursory reading I've done, mixed-income neighborhoods tend to be more vibrant/interesting and have intangible benefits (e.g., those on the lower income spectrum living in proximity to those more affluent often become more determined to improve their lot in life, have access to better schools/services and are more apt to take care of their surroundings than if they are consigned to bad neighborhoods with deficient services, more affluent well-to-do children get to not live in their cocoons/bubbles and get exposure to those not like themselves and it can alleviate entrenched inequality to some extent). For anyone who doesn't know, the ghetto was created by U.S. public policy (not due to so called innate undesirable traits of blacks/Hispanics) which is why many urban places are in the morass they are. I also categorically refute the notion that if you're a hedge fund guy in Paulus Hook making beaucoup bucks you automatically possess fine moral character and admirable traits, and if you're a single mother social worker/office manager making $45K living in B-L, that you lack character, admirable traits and that one shouldn't want their children to associate with the kids of the woman illustrated. And Heights, it's "camaraderie"

Though I do agree with you on this administrations low prioritization of sidewalk/road upkeep (Pacific Ave is borderline undrivable), they make it pretty clear in the article that no city dollars are being spent.

There are so many more....

My last few visits to the city line DMV (border of Bayonne and JC) have been surprisingly quick and efficient. I've gone around 3:30 - 4 and have gotten in and out without issue. Not sure if you own a car, if not it might be worth an Uber ride.

Not a huge selection, but I've seen worse. DFH 90 min, purple haze, Guinness, I think a Riverhorse, and the rest is fairly standard.

P.S. Can the Moderator combine this with one of the other threads?

Not sure if it's done yet as the restaurant is still figuring things out. I've been a few times and I'm a big fan of their happy hour. Also, the arroz con pollo on Latin night was delicious.

For those that live in the Foundry, do most of the residents there have cars? Just curious if they primarily take mass transit since the new building would prob be targeting a similar demographic.

Yup, ate at the bar yesterday. Pretty solid bar food, I had the deep fried ravioli and pulled pork nachos. Great happy hour as well, $3.50 Guinness, $4 dogfish head 60 minute, $4 ibita purple haze. My only complaint is there's no Filipino food! Luckily the owner assured me they'd be doing Filipino BBQ specialties on weekends in the near future.

Definitely great news for the Lafayette area, I think it was 87 units to be exact. Do you remember if they were condos or rentals?

In any case, that's good for the neighborhood.

It's terrible, but this is one of the trade offs of lliving in a city. These things also happen everyday in every part of NYC for instance, all we can really do is put pressure on the gov for a stronger police presence. ESPECIALLY in the summer, we all know that's when things tend to get the most out of hand.

Not sure which are late night and which are 24 hrs, but my go-to late night places are:

Ibby's falafel (open til 2)
Grove bistro for pizza (open til 4 I think)
Two boots (open til 4 I think)
A-1 Deli (I believe this is 24/7)
Gypsy grill (open til 4 I think)
Hollywood Fried Chicken (open til 4 I think)

Hope this is helpful.

Well put. For burger purists in the area, Krug's in Newark cannot be beat. A huge quality beef patty sourced from a local butcher, sesame seed bun from a nearby bakery, and good old fashioned American cheese. Heaven!

P.S. NPT is wildly overrated IMO. I gladly drive an extra 10 minutes for the superior Krug's experience.
