If you have a car take a ride to Home Depot in North Bergen. The selection is a bit larger.

A very good Lowes is next door to Home Depot. The in store sales seem to be larger and it may be because of the competition between the two stores.

I don't think that at all. Steven Fulop was on Council the same time Nida Lopez was involved in the lawsuit brought on by another Ward C candidate.

If the residency lawsuit was an issue, she would have NOT been on his ticket. Steven ran this campaign like a well oiled machine from start to finish and aligning himself with a candidate that would harm his election would not be an option.

The Final stop is Saturday, 05/11 at Lincoln Park (Parking lot Duncan Ave side.)

Some tips for going to these clinics:

Bring water for your pet.

Do not bring food for your dog. Please feed him or her before coming to the clinic.

All cats must be in a carrier that has ventilation.

If you have more than one pet, bring along another person. For example, if you have to license your dog and your cat needs shots, if you are by yourself you will have to wait to get the dog licensed before moving on to the wellness shots.

Understand that some pets need extra attention by the vet, which may increase your waiting time. Be patient.

If you are licensing for the first time, do not bring every vet record?only the last rabies shot information and proof of spay or neuter if applicable. It will make the process go much faster.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to email me at pinkowitzr@jcnj.org or call 201-547-5507.

Re: Rash of Suspected Feral Cat Poisoning in Downtown JC

Home away from home

I saw the thread on JCList today and started looking into this immediately.

From April 12th through April 25th Animal Control was called for a total of 4 dead cats in a two block radius. One was badly decomposed and may have been there for a few weeks. Three of the dead cats showed no visible signs of poisoning ie: foam around the mouth, blood on the mouth or nostrils, or any trauma that indicates they were hit by a car.

Today we heard there was a person telling people a dog died from poisoning and there were no calls to Animal Control about this. We spoke with all the local vet hospitals and they had no cases of any dogs or cats dying or sick from suspected poisoning. We asked one of our officers to go down to Wayne Street and the Animal Control Officer could not find anyone that heard about a dog that was sick or died. He walked from the 100 block up to Dixon Mills and back down the other side.

We are keeping an eye on this, please keep us posted. You can call 201-547-4888 and ask for Joe Frank and also leave me a message at 201-547-5507.

My email is pinkowitzr@jcnj.org. All reports will be sent to the Health Officer.

Point taken and we will try and adjust the barricades next year. We had signs on the other side of Montgomery and Grove "side walk closed in front of City Hall from Montgomery to Mercer 9am to 4pm", it may have been removed.

Thanks for letting us know...and I seriously mean it. Feedback good and bad, allows us to improve each year.

Althea, you will always be one of my favorite test pilots!

We all know that feeling when we come home from a long hard day to find our f 4-legged family members sleeping on the couch, wasting their day away while the dishes go unwashed, beds not made, floors not cleaned, no dinner in the oven...finally Fido and Fluffy can now give back!!!

It's also a great way to support and shop local Jersey City business. There is so much more to come with this program.

Thank you for your support of Jersey City's Pet Owner's Day clinics. Today, we sent out the email blast with the renewal application. For those not on our email list, you should receive the applications by mail towards the end of next week.

Last year, we were able to offer free wellness shots along with the free rabies shots for the first time. The wellness shots, known as Da2PP (for dogs) and FVRCP (for cats), are crucial to stop the spread of highly contagious and deadly diseases. The cost to run these clinics is very high, and last year 65% of the cost was funded by grants we applied for and won. We have some more grants in the works, and when awarded, we can introduce more clinics at other locations?possibly in the fall and during the course of the year for new pet owners or newly acquired four-legged family members. We learned from last year that the clinics must be held in cooler weather and so, to avoid unexpected heat waves, we are concluding them in mid-May. The eight back-to-back clinics are physically exhausting to do, and we became a bit burnt-out and sunburned by the time we held the final clinic at City Hall.

This year we are holding fewer clinics, but adding more hours to each clinic and increasing the number of staff to issue licenses, rabies certificates and assist our veterinarians. Those who are either renewing or licensing for the first time will need a bit more attention from the licensing team, so either Carmen or I will be on the front lines to make sure the three-year license holders do not wait on the licensing/rabies shot lines and can go right in for the wellness shots or other low-cost services. Cats will also be moved out of the dog licensing lines and will go directly in for the shots. This should alleviate some of the issues we had last year.

The 2013 season is going to be exciting and we will soon release the information to our pet community that we think you are going to love?stay turned!

Information about Dog Licensing:

The new licensing calendar becomes effective on May 1, 2013 and will require dog owners to renew their pup's tags either once every year or every three years, depending on the licensing schedule they choose.

For more information on the new program, and the requirements and fees involved to license your dog, read more here

No dispute that the FBI have got to catch and put sick people like this away. Our JC pols and police need to assure us that our kids are safe, give a strong message to any potential predators that JC isn't a soft target, and limit the damage to JCs image caused by this press. Imo, both Team Healy and Team Fulop seem to have been asleep at the wheel on this one.

D. With all due respect I have to disagree and withhold any judgement until facts come out. As stated in the media, no one knows why the chose a Jersey City hotel to meet. The people live in Brooklyn and for now we aren't hearing that they had any ties to JC except for booking a hotel room on the waterfront. This story sends chills right to the bone. I don't see how Mayor Healy or Councilman Fulop could have prevented any of this. Let's wait until more facts come out before placing blame on anyone other then the people arrested. I do understand the outrage you have and knowing this scum was in out town even for a meeting in a hotel room is sickening .

On a similar topic, can you or Dan or someone from JC explain why all of JC, and downtown in particular, has been made to look both clueless and sleezy in the recent use of the Hyatt by the feds in their bust of the couple from Brooklyn? Why, for example, wasn't the JCPD in on the arrests?

bloodtv, I'm surprised to read that you paid for a cat license since cats do not have to be licensed in Jersey City. The rabies shots and any other shots for cats were done at a table designated for cats and I will be happy to get in touch with People for Animals to get a copy of your shot records that were given to each person at the time of the shots. The reason we are doing this clinics so early is to avoid any heat waves like the ones that happened last year.
