Yes, the list I just posted is an editorialized list of summaries about real candidates that clearly shows my opinion of them. I think that everyone reading the site is well aware of that. If you would like to challenge those positions you are free to do so.

That is a far cry from sites like thetruthdivision.com or gotnews.com that masquerade as journalistic entities, but I'm not here to have the "fake news" debate.

How do you even find your way to a site like gotnews.com?

Back to the confirmed list, so far we've got:

An NEC pick who is the president of Goldman Sachs. Solid pick to guide economic policy and likely a true champion of the middle class.

A Labor pick who doesn't believe in a living minimum wage or overtime, with no government experience, whose only qualification seems to be having been an early, major campaign donor.

A Treasury pick from Goldman Sachs with no regulatory or governmental experience.

A Commerce pick who specialized in buying up companies in industries like steel, gas, and coal and then slashing jobs and pensions and cutting corners to turn a profit. Oh, and one of these coal companies had 96 "serious and substantial" health and safety violations, got 12 miners killed in an explosion, was fined less than $150k in the bargain--and still went to court to get the fine reduced. But he saved Trump from bankruptcy in the 90's, so that's okay.

A Small Business pick who systematically used labor loopholes to classify workers as independent contractors to deny overtime, used job creation credit tax credits while laying workers off, attacked unionization attempts, and whose organization maintained a de facto monopoly by crushing actual small businesses. The Trump Foundation's largest donor for a decade.

An Education pick who doesn't believe in public education--a billionaire MLM heiress trying to funnel public education money to private schools while simultaneously decreasing regulation and oversight of these private schools. Also has a stake in a private student loan company.

An HHS pick who has introduced legislation to let doctors opt out of medicare, wants to start a nationwide regulatory race to the bottom in health insurance, wants to ban Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds even for cancer screenings and prenatal care, and believes that prior to the ACA "not one" woman couldn't afford birth control. Voted no on reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, no on adding more children to SCHIP (children's health insurance), no on regulating tobacco as a drug, and no on giving mental healthcare equity with physical healthcare.

An AG pick who was too racist to be confirmed as a judge in the 80's.

A HUD pick with zero governmental, building, or development experience.

An EPA pick who is currently suing the EPA.

A NASA transition leader who doesn't believe in climate change.

My bad on the math.

On your second note, that's exactly the point. I didn't raise the topic. You did. I get that you're excited that your candidate won. The ?Truth Division? huh? A news source that boldly claims to be truthful should inspire as much confidence as bank that claims it doesn?t steal your money.

Yes, again this is a poor extrapolation of what was actually said in the interview. Here are excerpts from an article on the same topic from Reuters.

Quote:
"I'm more than happy to bring back the employees that we were forced to lay off during the depressing period," Longhi said in an interview on CNBC. Which "could be close to 10,000 jobs."

So an off the cuff, non-committal statement from a CEO who got to be on TV that he would like to bring back jobs lost during the recession.

Quote:
The company had about 21,000 employees in North America as of Dec. 31, down from about 28,000 in 2007.

Which included a pretty serious rounding up from 6,000 to 10,000 jobs. I guess 6,000 "could be close to 10,000."

Quote:
"Market conditions will dictate if, when and how many employees we can recall," a U.S. Steel spokeswoman told Reuters on Wednesday.

And then a backpedal from a company spokesperson ensuring that the company is guaranteeing 0 new jobs.

All in all, a pretty far cry from the sensationalized headline presented by JCMan8.

I take it the usual "progressive" trolls are unable to respond, and have to wait for their media to issue talking points to tell them what to think, and they'll comment on this tomorrow.

Still waiting on a response about the attempt to connect the Clinton campaign to financing or expecting a positive result out of the recount, but sure.

From your link:

"Son, who wore a red tie and red sweater under his suit jacket, told reporters his company would create jobs by investing in start up companies in the United States."

They are not directly creating any jobs. This is a glorified VC fund throwing cash at Silicon Valley and hoping for returns.

"I just came to celebrate his new job. We were talking about it. Then I said I would like to celebrate his presidential job and commit, because he would do a lot of deregulation. I said this is great."

Do you know why Son and Softbank care about deregulation? They've essentially punted on trying to purchase T-Mobile and merge it with Sprint (fewer choices are bad for all consumers) because the FCC head and Judicial Department were against it.

So, he's giving Trump a nonsense talking point that requires 0 follow through in exchange for an FCC appointment who will be amenable to Son's cause.

Their lead lawyer has said the following, "...because we had not uncovered any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology, we had not planned to exercise this option ourselves. But now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides."

I know you're mostly trolling and will never back down on your blind support, but your continued claims that this was a landslide are getting tiresome. He flipped a couple key states.

Donald Trump owes his victory in the Electoral College to the three states he won by the smallest number of votes: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So it's fair to say that the 2016 presidential election was decided by about 100,000 votes out of more than 120 million ballots cast.

According to the latest tallies, Trump won Pennsylvania by 1.1 percentage points (68,236 votes), Wisconsin by 0.9 points (27,257 votes), Michigan by 0.2 points (11,837 votes). If Clinton had won all three states, she would have won the Electoral College 278 to 260. She fell short in all three, of course, and that's why we are now getting accustomed to the reality of President-elect Donald J. Trump.

Re: Trump Our New President

I have no problem with Politifact giving a "False" rating. They give that rating with a ton of caveats and make it clear that the math could work out.

From the article, they show that if the assumed value of Trump's share of his father's business was $40m in 1974, and it was delivered liquid he would be at parity with his estimated current wealth ($3-4B).

Quote:
We used $40 million as the starting point for 1974. Honghui Chen, associate professor of finance at the University of Central Florida, told us the account would have grown to $3.94 billion by November 2015 if the money had followed the S&P 500 index and all dividends had been reinvested.

This is a rough calculation that ignores taxes owed on dividends, but it?s on the same scale as what the National Journal reported.

It then goes on to say that if his $200m share of the company was again liquid in 1982, that he would have $6.7-9B.

Quote:
"Because the stock market in 1982 was quite volatile, the current value of $200 million investment in 1982 would depend on the time at which it was initially invested," Chen said.

If it went in right at the end of 1981, it would be worth $6.7 billion. Invested in June 1982, the value today would be $8.3 billion. Invested at the end of 1982, it would be worth $9 billion. Again, in the neighborhood of what the Journal said.

Their summary:

Quote:
The only way to hit the $8 billion mark is to start with $200 million in 1982, and it's wrong to say that was Trump's father's money. While the father's business put Trump on the path to have $200 million in 1982, Trump himself had been running the company for eight years.

We rate this claim False.

So I'm not sure what you're arguing here. If Trump had the cash value of his business at two different times in history (granted he did not have the option for the first case but could have easily liquidated in 1982), he could have invested in a mutual fund and ended up with the same or more money.

There's also this:

Quote:
I finally found a Trump supporter ? this morning when I went to buy coffee. (I noticed a Trump bumper sticker on his car.)

?Hi,? I said. ?Noticed your Trump bumper sticker.?

?Yup,? he said, a bit defensively.

?I hope you don?t mind my asking, but I?m curious. Why are you supporting him??

?I know he?s a little bit much,? said the Trump supporter. ?But he?s a successful businessman. And we need a successful businessman as president.?

?How do you know he?s a successful businessman?? I asked.

?Because he?s made a fortune.?

?Has he really?? I asked.

?Of course. Forbes magazine says he?s worth four and a half billion.?

?That doesn?t mean he?s been a success,? I said.

?In my book it does,? said the Trump supporter.

?You know, in 1976, when Trump was just starting his career, he said he was worth about $200 million,? I said. ?Most of that was from his father.?

?That just proves my point,? said the Trump supporter. ?He turned that $200 million into four and a half billion. Brilliant man.?

?But if he had just put that $200 million into an index fund and reinvested the dividends, he?d be worth twelve billion today,? I said.

The Trump supporter went silent.

"And he got about $850 million in tax subsidies, just in New York alone,? I said.

More silence.

?He?s not a businessman,? I said. ?He?s a con man. "Hope you enjoy your coffee.?

In other exciting news, remember that deer in headlights look from the press conference after meeting with Obama last week:

Quote:
During their private White House meeting on Thursday, Mr. Obama walked his successor through the duties of running the country, and Mr. Trump seemed surprised by the scope, said people familiar with the meeting. Trump aides were described by those people as unaware that the entire presidential staff working in the West Wing had to be replaced at the end of Mr. Obama?s term.

After meeting with Mr. Trump, the only person to be elected president without having held a government or military position, Mr. Obama realized the Republican needs more guidance. He plans to spend more time with his successor than presidents typically do, people familiar with the matter said.

I think you're mistaking the left's sentiment here. It is not that "only stupid rural bigots voted for Trump", not even "mostly stupid rural bigots voted for Trump." Rather it is, "stupid rural bigots mostly voted for Trump."

Because Trump stoked those fires by bombastically using xenophobic and racist rhetoric, that is likely not an ill-informed assumption.

However, this is kind of a straw man/easiest (most emotionally incisive) angle to take. The reason WI, MI, OH, and PA were lost was because both the Republican and Democratic parties have effectively ignored the death of the middle class over the last two and a half decades. The only major party candidates addressing this were Trump and Sanders.

President-elect Trump has a responsibility to condemn ALL violence and intimidatory behavior from ALL parties and do everything in his power to bind the wounds his campaign may have caused (regardless of whether or not you or even he believes he is to blame). He had his first failure at that test last night in which he used his Twitter account to call protests unfair.

We have a long way to go. Protests will likely continue in the short term (if the cabinet names being floated come to pass) and flare up again around inauguration time.

You can make up the last four numbers, it is not the whole sequence. I remember Times Square had these store fronts which for $65.00 would give you an ID. This was awhile ago, but I was amazed how they advertised so brazenly. Children who are enrolled in public schools are supposed to have Social Security numbers too, but North Hudson towns have a lot of children enroll from illegal parents where the children were not born here and the schools do not turn them down. People here forget former mayor McCann voted in the school election and later the board of elections said he was not qualifed after his vote was counted. You cannot vote while on parole or probation. It takes a while to catch violations and really how do you catch someone with only 4 digits from Social Security?

Yes, Donna Brazile is a schmuck, if you watched CNN during the primary period you would know that she was very much pro-Clinton and always attempting to play down Sanders' rise (but so was the rest of the MSM).

No, I don't think that CNN shared any of this information with her.

No, I don't think that it is worth talking about Clinton being "tipped off" to a question about the Flint water crisis at a debate hosted in Flint, MI at the height of the Flint water crisis. The first 20+ minutes of that debate focused on questions of that nature.

I believe we're seeing record volumes of contributions to campaigns because the barrier to donate has become so low. Think of how much more pervasive online spending has become since '12 and '08.

Far fewer people are afraid of dumping their credit card info into a webform and the email lists from previous campaigns can be resurrected. Sanders was able to use his list to raise close to $2mil in the last 48 hours for down ballot candidates mainly fanned by Ryan's comment in WI.
