Eh. It all depends. Customer service in luxury goods markets like Ginza in Tokyo is outstanding. Americans could also learn much about cs in the major retail areas in Hong Kong. Mainland China is another story entirely.

Unless she is the administratrix of the estate her signature might not matter. He should have checked the intestacy statute or consultes a lawyer before he decided to take possession.

Actually, you committed a crime by moving the vehicle. It is not your property, not may it be deemed "abandoned" in the absence of a court order. It's estate property. You can file a claim against the estate for the storage charges, but you can't touch the vehicle. Serious mistake.

If your insurer isn't paying it should have no discernible impact on your premium. You can always ask underwriting in advance.

Not sure how bad the damage is. You should give notice to your insurer. Unless you know for sure the cause of the leak or what's covered I'd err on the side of reporting to the condo's liability insurer. Generally, you job right now is to make sure you give notice directly to the insurers. Let them tell you their policies don't cover. Not your job to figure it out right now.

They'll send a field adjuster over to prepare an estimate and investigate issues concerning coverage. Just show him the damage. You really ought to put the management company's liability insurer on notice just in case. If it was a back-up as you state they will probably deny coverage as that type of loss typically isn't covered without an extra endorsement.

The first thing you should do is get a copy of the building's certificate of insurance and report the claim to their liability insurer. The rest will tend to take care of itself. Ignore their "contractor." Put the carrier on notice.

Quietrock is a rip off. You are better off with double 5/8" drywall and green glue. Decoupling to avoid flanking through the framing members would be top of my list.

The best sound proofing "stuff" is the density/mass of the wall itself. Best combination is mass, i.e., double 5/8 drywall, plus decoupling of wall from the framing members, which can be accomplished with double stud construction or resilient channel installed on isolation clips. Insulation itself won't significantly improve the STC rating of the wall.

No insurance and no bonding. No assurance he has any knowldge of UPC. No assurancr he has any core competency aside from sweating copper and snaking drains. Having a license ensures at least some degee of accountability as well. Perhaps ok for sweating some copper or snaking a drain, but not so much for boilers and combustion appliances.

Indeed, it's a lost art but I know a few guys that still do it. Most of the time the plaster can be rekeyed with buttons, any missing areas rebuilt with structo for the base, and veneered with a good lime based product like master of plaster. Dustless and thus much less messy then mucking about with rock and mud. Plus you don't have to shim out of wack framing that was originally intended for lath and plaster.

You don't need a painter, you need to have those walls skimmed by a plasterer. Note I said "plasterer." If you call a drywaller they'll, at best, skim coat with joint compound and repair damage with durabond. Don't use gypsum products on your plaster walls! PM me if you'd like a referral for a plasterer that uses lime based restoration plaster.

Honestly by that age you ought to consider a more complete overhaul. The stock capacitors have likely leaked through the dielectric. I would upgrade the caps, replace the pair of tweeters and refoam the drivers as needed.

Don't waste time with access issues, let the insurers worry about that. Give notice of the occurrence to your liability insurer and the liability insurer for the building. Find out who the liability insurer is for the upstairs unit and give it notice too. The rest will work itself out. PM if you need additional help.

Heat pumps are typically much more efficient. Newer heat pumps like the Mitsubishi hyper heat models have COP's of between 4 and 5. The performance curves are outstanding with no drop in capacity at any temp we might encounter. With reasonably tight construction and a thoughtful design, there is no need for a boiler/furnace. The days of the central heating plant are numbered.
