I sure hope so. It's utterly mismanaged and completely out of sync with the current local demographics, let alone the ones that are on the way in. I would smile ear-to-ear if I never again had to deal with wasting 15 minutes of my life in the "express" lane while someone ahead of me argues with the cashier about a $1 coupon.

And the current local demographics are?

How about the mass transit fares to attend these meetings, is that a poll tax? An almost $10 "poll tax" roundtrip if they're taking a bus and path ride to get there. Hell, even a $4.50 roundtrip Path ride can be a lot for a poor person who cannot afford the luxury of having a car.

Really? Many shopping malls, located in cities, require you pay for parking. Here's one...The Westchester Mall. So you're wrong. Again...

You name one out of how many? Perhaps thousands, that probably kept you very busy. I attended those meetings, it was the residents not Newport who asked for the fee.

Oh, are you so upset that you're wrong again, that you need to make false assumptions that I waste my time in shopping malls? Lol

I'm not arguing against the fact that many, if not most malls do not charge for parking. It's because most of these malls are located in less populated areas.
My point is if a mall is located in a dense area (e.g. DTJC) it's not going to be unusual to see a fee for parking (assuming they even offer parking at all). FWIW, The Galleria, is another urban mall, in a dense area, that charges for parking. So much for your "go to any mall, you will not pay"

My legalese is not very good, but I think point K means, if the property has less than 30 units, then they're not enforcing the offstreet parking rule:

K. The Parking Authority shall maintain a current record of all properties with 30 or more dwelling units which make off-street parking available to residents whether as part of the rental or service charge or for an optional fee. The Tax Assessor and all departments of the City which maintain relevant records shall cooperate with the Parking Authority to assure that the record of available off-street parking maintained by the Parking Authority remains current.

Is the mass transit fare a poll tax? How about taxi ride for those that don't own a car or live near mass transit? Should all of these people be reimbursed, because otherwise it's a poll tax??

Yes, there is a parking lot but how long will that last? There were tons of garages on Bright Street before they became condos. How about the parking garage at Grove Pointe, which is 2 blocks away? The government needs to provide you free parking? Should they also reimburse those that take mass transit to City Hall?
If they can afford all the payments that go along with owning a car, they can pay a parking garage.

I like elsquid's idea of raising the fee to park on the street.

How about working with zip car to expand the Hoboken Corner Cars program to JC?

That's probably true. Therefore it's a good thing that even if the parking were reduced from 163 to 123, there would be parking available for more than 75% of the units in the building. What's the household car ownership % for that neighborhood? I know it's 61% for all of Jersey City.

Where is the data on this? I know for a fact, downtown (Paulus Hook, Van Vorst, Hamilton Park, the Village, Harimus, etc do not have parking.

I know it. That's what blows my mind more than anything.. all these pizza places, mostly of sub-standard quality near the PATH station charging considerably more than the $1/slice places in Manhattan.

Is Two Boots in JC anymore expensive than Two Boots in Manhattan? I don't eat two boots, just curious.

While I don't know what happened, I imagine it's a whole lot easier to triage at 33rd than any of the other stops in NYC. There's an elevator there to get the equipment down and the passenger up quickly. It's also faster to go back to 33rd than risk the situation worsening on the ride to JC. There are also more hospitals uptown, so the ambulance response time may be marginally better.

I agree with you, if you express it back to 33rd street, that's less than 3 min. Which is the fastest you'd have EMT's reach you at 14th street anyway. So you might as well have them meet you at 33rd street, where there are generally more police officers available to assist in the emergency.

FYI - at the downtown location (on Columbus) you can use the parking garage and they have reserved parking for customers on the bottom floor. It's complimentary for customers. I think it's a 20min time cap.

Flushing Queens is just about all Korean and there is some rocking food there - not quite as good as Elmhurst / Woodside, most of the new places on Newark Ave are just lame Yuppie plays - overpriced bland nothing food made for people who just don't know any better because they got 0 real world life experience under their belts.

example : Sawadee Thai , run by Chinese ppl., you think the Yups know anything about how authentic Thai food taste like ?

There used to be some great old school spots in DTJC

Tania's Polish Restaurant
Fiore's Deli
etc.

The last hope is JSQ as it's a wide open canvass as the development in the area is starting.

Time will tell.

Do the JC locals, who have never left, know any better about how authentic Thai food taste like ?

I'm sure there might be some disgruntled souls, but personally, I'm not sure what there is to be outraged about. My rent is going up 4% with an option to lock in the price for the following year. This seems reasonable to me. More friends are moving here and I find it less necessary to go to Manhattan for a social life.

people need to get over themselves. the world is not here to agree with everything you say or stand for.

Don't I have the right to ignore what people have to say? Is it censorship if someone sets up their own tv to skip over certain channels while scrolling?

Having people work or study in a coffe shop is the norm. Otherwise you wouldn't find so many outlets available for people to charge there laptops and phones. Those outlets could easily be removed if they wanted to discourage the behavior.

If it's allowed, it's clearly not rude and ugly. It's like going to a smoking bar (outside of NYC) and complaining that people are smoking. Go to a non-smoking bar instead.

To support your point, who knows, maybe the store wants to appeal to people who are looking for a place to conduct business and drink coffee.

I don't understand why people are eager to link sexual assaults to uber or lyft- your risk is exactly the same as it was when you were taking regular cabs. Atleast you have a history of the car and driver that picked you up now. The risk of cab drivers assaulting passengers has always been there-with or without an app. I'm not saying it's a great situation either way but this certainly isn't anything new or unique to just Uber or Lyft.
Agreed. The cable guy or the food delivery guy could come back and rape you too!
