Re: Another Man's Treasure vintage store celebrates 5 years!

This is such an awesome store! I have purchased so many vintage items that I would have paid double for in NYC. I've been to all the Pier shows, flea markets etc. and cannot believe what "bargains" I get here. I hop the Path to Grove Steet and save a fortune. The owners/help are the nicest people I've ever dealt with....a pleasure just to go and converse with the help...
Happy 5th Anniversary !! Great Job to Great Owners !!!

Old Colony Plaza where Pathmark is always has guys hanging around looking to carry groceries and such. I am sure they would help. Just don't do it alone, you don't know these people either.

Sutherland - Not for anything but what does that have to do with Carmine's moving. Do you work for the building department or something. If he's moving there then obviously it is zoned commercial or he would not be signing a lease...what a dumb question.....

Re: Save the Food Trucks of Jersey City

Say what you want about the food trucks - fine - my husband is a plumber in JC and brought the subject matter up. When the guy in the food truck has to go to the bathroom where does he go? Does he leave the truck - NOT! Where does he wash his hands? He doesn't. Those trucks are disgusting with guys taking their Pee in a gatorade bottle because they can't stop if they have business and they sure as hell don't wash their hands afterwards. If you want to eat from the truck eat at "your own risk". Was it the hot dog/taco/pita/wrap/salad/hamburger that made you sick or was it the fact that the slob serving it doesn't wash his hands after doing his business that makes you sick? You tell me where he goes to do his business, does he shut his car down...doubtful...you cannot be that naieve !

I heard Healy's son bought it too. Then a couple weeks back the son was arrested in Hoboken for domestic violence for cracking some girl. Maybe that's why it is up for sale now?

Yorkster - Yvonne is not being a bit extreme. Children and ohter pets alike can very well pick up diseases from dog crap in the park. If the dog has worms it is easily transferred to child by playing in the grass or just touching the grass. Worms will penetrate the skin or whatever part of the body touches the infected grass. Unfortunately the slobs that don't pick up ruin it for those who care about the park and put their energy into it. It's not extreme is mere truth.

We tried Victoria's a while back. It was so-so. Thought I'd try it again and ask for the crust a little crispier. When it came it was the same as the first time. The middle is soupy and not cooked well. The dough/crust tasted like Elio's frozen pizza squares. I couldn't eat it. Two strikes and I will go back to my regular place ! You get what you pay for.

CHACHACHA - oh please - who the hell is your landlord to tell you that you cannot use your trash to put the dog poop in? I have a tenant and they put their dog poop (which is already in a bag) in the trash bin and I am glad that they at least pick it up....screw your landlord, pick it up and put it with the rest of the garbage. After all it is garbage. I do the same thing myself, there are no public receptacles so I put it in my own garbage can. It's in a bag already and no different than the crap that is already in there...you can't be that moronic to walk to a public trash can to dispose of it - does your landlord monitor your garbage? Just throw it in there and be done with it...if he doesn't like it then let him take it somewhere else.....I can't believe you even posted that you walk three blocks out of your way looking for a trash bin? It's garbage so put it with the GARBAGE!

I have no problem at all getting into a confrontation with someone who doesn't clean up. If they have children or "even care" they'd clean it up. They are disgusting slobs and too good to pick it up...then get rid of the dog. Wonder if these morons change their kids diapers - or is that too beneath them.....
Wonder why they walk at 11pm....can't get caught as easily you cowards !

Loko498-
Didn't get out there today but will gladly post a pic on my next walk, which is usually every day. With the rain tomorrow it may be Friday. Whoever posted the signs cares like the rest of us and is taking the time to remind people.
Will do my best to do it on Friday - thanks to them people "MAY" even try to abide.

I would just like to say a big "THANK YOU" to the person that posted laminated signs on every pole around the baseball field at 9th St. Park telling you to pick up your dog poop, because it is your dog and it is your s**t ! Thanks for taking the time to make people feel guilty and I hope it works. I enjoy walking that path with my dog during the day and gave you a big THUMBS UP when I saw the signs today. It may not help but you gave it 100% -
Let's hope they read it and pay attention.

What don't people get about the parking? Am I stupid or something? You cannot park in ShopRite or BJ's and walk out of the lot to go to Chili's for lunch or to the mall to shop. There are signs everywhere. If they don't tow you then every person hopping the LightRail will park in that lot for free when they go to work in NYC.

Wake up already - either shop where you park or park somewhere else and pay the lousy $4 at the mall. Ignorance .....that's all it is.....something for nothing....sorry folks it doesn't work that way in JC !!!!

Re: half-eaten chicken bones on the sidewalks

If you take a stroll with your dog on Brunswick toward the Park on 9th Street - the sidewalks are inundated with chicken bones. The school kids (Ferris/Dickeson/McNair) all eat in the local hood and love to just drop the container and its contents on the sidewalks or middle of the street.
One trip to the vet two years ago cost me $147.00 to find out the bones got lodged in my dogs intestines. Total nightmare - I can't believe the slobs can't wait to find a garbage can before dropping the bucket in front of someones house.

I agree - The NRA would support us ! What happened to all the people that believe in their 2nd Amendment right? Why pay for these "animals" in prison? Line'em up and shoot them at the wall - why waste taxpayers money? You can't even try to train these animals - blow'em away if you have the chance. I would !

Re: HVAC Repair

If it is an HVAC problem why would you call a plumber? I've used New England and yes I know they have an hour and a half minimum. It could take an hour and a half or 30 minutes but GUARANTEED it will be fixed. PSE&G is a joke, their worry free program is a scam and they tell you most of the time you have to replace big parts for big bucks I know because they told me I needed to replace the condensor. When I called NE the guy came over and told me it was a flame sensor and there was nothing wrong with the $2,000.00 condensor PSE&G wanted to fix. So for $187.50 I saved about $1800. From what my experience has been there is no one more competent. But if I had a HVAC problem I surely would not be calling a plumber. I'd call an expert like the guy at NE. No, Kannekt does not delete negative feedback. I spoke to Tom at Kannekt and that is definitely not there policy. If it is negative it stays. Spend $2000 or save $1800 you make the choice.

Hey Irish - I read an article in the NY Times about 3 months ago about crossing guards in Montclair, NJ. They make $80,000 a year working full time. I know they make good money and doubtful it is $10 an hour. So why don't you check your "facts" first before you are so quick to criticize what you read on JCLIST....if what we post is so absurd and effin retarded then go post on another site.

Absurd is not even the word !!! WTH? I love the crossing guard on the corner of VanVorst and Grand, right in front of St. Peters Church - sits on the fire hydrant the entire time she's working and gives you attitude if you nearly run someone over because she can't get off her lazy backside to cross anyone. She watches from her perch ! Talk about L-A-Z-Y ! They pay that moron $48 an hour - goes to show ya anyone can get a job with this City!

I'd go with either Pella (Architectural Series) or Marvin. I have both in my house and the warranties are 10 years plus. The windows open in so you can clean inside and out.
If you want quality stay away from Home Defect and Lowe's. They sell Pella but bottom of the line windows. Go to the Pella store on Rt. #17. You want to save $ on heat and a/c in the summer then do yourself a favor and spend now and the rewards will follow. Remember you get what you pay for and Pella and Marvin stand behind all of their products. You can call them anytime but probably won't have to.

Re: $6.70 for a JC Dog License?

Screw them ! Oh please, you are going door to door to check on dog licenses but when I call the NON-emergency # to the P.D. for something it takes 4 hours or more to do something so I end up calling the regular JCPD #. Do these people have nothing else to do? My dog has the rabies vaccine tab attached to the leash - now you want me to register the dog - give me a break and tell me WHY?? JC can't control all the crap that goes on in this City, graffiti, muggings, stalkers, dog walkers who let their dogs crap all over the place, people who block crosswalks and cause accidents and you want me to run to City Hall to register my dog. How about you guys RUN to my neighborhood and ticket the morons who crap on my sidewalk, graffiti my garage, throw garbage all over my street and ticket the cars who block my sidewalks and driveway....then maybe I will THINK about registering my freaking dog - If the dog has all the shots necessary then why the hell to I have to pay you to register the dog? Will I then have to take the frigin dog to inspection in two years? JC police and animal control need to concentrate on the city and the people in it not the dogs who live with us ! This City is the biggest JOKE ever -

Agreed - STAY AWAY from JC Medical Center. Had a friend who fell and was told she had a sprained ankle by looking at the x-rays. Two days later she could not walk. She went into NYC to see a specialist and he told her that the ankle was broken in two places as clearly seen on the x-rays! NIGHTMARE PLACE

I'd like to believe that however if you've ever driven by Dickenson H.S. at about 3pm you will see every student crossing Palisade Avenue in between the traffic in both directions. You will also see about 5 JCPD officers standing there having a pow wow paying absolutely no attention to the kids jay walking and almost getting hit by cars. There are "No Parking" signs the entire length of the street but at 3pm it is jammed with cars and shuttle buses. Kids darting out in between them and they actually step right in front of you without looking. I've never seen an officer even stop them, so if they are going to enforce anything they actually have to look around them to see what is going on.
