Call me crazy, but I think the City Centre Towers are good as dead. But I'll be really interested to see how much of this plan (which sounds wonderful) makes it into reality in the next 20 or so years.
So visioneer Tony Nelessen has taken on the Honeywell site and JSQ. What task will the Planning Division hand him next??

Thanks for the info. As a resident of the Village and someone interested in finding out more about this Levin kid, I'll make an effort to stop by.

To answer JC Man's question,
No, they shouldn't buy together. I give their relationship another year, max.

They've been pulling the new PATH cars through the tubes for at least a couple of months now. I saw some in Journal Square last month, and had heard reports of sightings prior to that. They're real. Hopefully we'll see them in service soon. Those lucky WTC commuters are getting them first!

I just read all of the suggestions, dating back a couple of years. Funny stuff!
How about: "Abate N Switch," or "Chicken bones & chicken heads," or "I mugged a hipster and all I got was this ironic t-shirt"

I know the Lipski's in trouble for his urination habits, but really this guy is a giant turd. You don't get to urinate on a crowd of people and then (1) dismiss it as a rare occurrence, plead alcoholism, expect people to sympathize with you, and then (2) whine whine whine about how you feel the media is mistreating you when they call you out on your mishandling of the whole situation.
The Insider columnist had a perfect response. Someone needs to give this guy the hook before he brings any more embarrassment to this city.

I hope the scum spend plenty of time behind bars.
Jersey City residents, please protect yourselves. I can't tell you how many people I see walking around our streets late at night, alone, with earbuds in their ears. There's no easier target. Be vigilent. Take out the earbuds, watch who and what are around you.

To get rid of any of the cars, we need:
Bike lanes More transit capacity More transit services Bike lanes Bike parking Sidewalks that aren't cracked/broken/covered in trash/fenced off/smeared with dog poo/riddled with holes and ruts Bike lanes Bike/pedestrian friendly urban design (not setting buildings 50 feet back from the sidewalk and behind a wall or fence i.e. Jersey City Med Ctr and others). Re-striped crosswalks Raised crosswalks ENFORCEMENT OF TRAFFIC LAWS. People don't want to walk or bike where they fear for their lives. JCPD, write tickets to people who run stop signs. Better yet, JCPD, don't run stop signs yourselves! Get the bikes to use the streets (install bike lanes first) instead of sidewalks. Bike lanes Pedestrian signals. Lots of intersections lack them. Did I say bike lanes and enforcement of traffic laws yet?

Ugh. They are indeed annoying. When they approach I just say, loudly, "NO!" Even before they get a full sentence out. Like you're repremanding a dog or a toddler.
Annoying face cream guy: Excu... Me: NO!!!! Annoying face cream guy (disgusted): Ok, gawd! And there's just something very dirty about the massage ladies. I mean I know they use the piece of paper to keep your face off of the dirty, wripped face donut, but still... Ick!

The trees I'm thinking of (the maples on the south side of Columbus between Monmouth and Varick) are still there. I haven't been on the block between Monmouth and Brunswick to see. I've heard that the city is planning to improve the "streetscape" on Columbus. New sidewalks, resurfacing, etc. Not sure when work is set to begin, or if removing/replacing trees is part of the plan.

My roommate and I were walking by when this was happening. Two women were with her, trying to calm her down. I heard a neighbor yell out the window, "Calm down, honey." The girl's shirt was over her head and came off. No idea what was going on w/ her.
