Re: Unrelated Heights Crimes: Heroin addict beaten bloody; Deli robbery fails; & Swordplay cut short

I was just about to ask the same thing. Last I checked the heights hasnt lost its charecter and by that I mean it hasnt been gentrified (which is a good thing). I dont know where you get this mixed income crap because you've mentioned it before on this board and its really makes you sound pretentious. Get off your high horse.

Re: Monticello Avenue Inquiry

Many areas of JC are not all well and nice. Yes downtown has come a long way over time, but whenever I talk to people about JC they think that just because the gentrification of downtown word is being thrown around that the whole place is nice now, which is obviously not the case. The main thing you want to do is NOT listen to realitors about any area. Judge for yourself or take it from long time residents of a a specific area, then make your decision on weather or not the area is livable. Also dont listen to people when they give the speech "oh ive lived here 3 years and im ok" nonsense. Im not saying they're all wrong but chances are they f'ed up and are just trying to talk themselves into thinking they made a good decision. Basically what im trying to say is look at an area for yourself a few times, get to know it and ask long time residents , IMHO its the best way to find out about an area.

Re: St Peter's College area: how safe?

No pencil, never did I say it was unsafe. If you read my post a little closer I said that their are alot of posts regaurding how safe an area is, within these posts just about every street has been coverd (sarcasm) and I have never seen a word of caution except for Croft. It just seemed kinda funny to me cause alot of areas mentioned exluding some of the saint peters area is not all as peachy as many make them out to be.

Its kinda funny, you all ask which areas are safe or ok to live and no matter where the area is you either get "its very safe" or "its not to bad". So my question is since pretty much every area of JC has been coverd on this board at one point or another where exactly are the bad areas according to you people?

New Heights, I drive a car without hub caps, what makes you think id spend my money on "sweet rims". But seriously, did you read the second part of my post where I said I could understand being mad if it was done to your house.

To the people that acctually get upset over graffiti and want it reported, are you being serious or did I miss the sarcasm? You do realize you live in a city right? Once again if you refer to 201's post I think he sums it up pretty well. Maybe we can all come together and get a fund raiser together to clean up grafitti and with the extra money we can open a whole foods and maybe even a wine tasting event(for those that dont know, im being sarcastic). I can completley understand if this was being done to your house other than that maybe you need to go back to a suburb.

HAHAHA 201 is right, I know the old saying if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything but you people that complain about this kinda stuff have got to be kidding. I was reading this and thinking to myself if it was a joke or not but I guess its real. I wouldnt have said anything but 201 put it the best and I had to give him kudos for that.

No offense taken Petey. I understand what your saying. But I just feel the need to speak out about my dislike for comments like the one I stated before that Olive made. I just dont like that kind of attitude. As far as getting mad when people call a neighborhood sketchy I dont get mad at all because chances are the area is sketchy.

That olive guy pretty much sums up why I cant stand whats happening to JC. Did he or she really just tell someone "thats why you still live in the ghetto"? And thats why he dosnt want to move to the heights or JSQ?Do us all a favor and dont move there. I never heard a more pretentious comment in my life. Please find another city.

Parking Zones

I have a question, if someone works in downtown Jersey City but lives somewhere outside of JC can they still get a parking permit zoned for the area in which they work?

I hate to sound like a broken record but unless you live downtown which even has its problems your gonna be lving in a sketchy neighborhood, I cant speak for that particular street but I know the area around there was pretty sketchy. The last time I was in that vacinity was maybe 2 years ago so I dont know if some drastic change took place which I highy doubt. I mean hey if you've lived in rough neighborhoods before I guess youll be ok but honestly id look for someplace better. If I were you id get a feel for the area first and then make a decision. I dont want to discourage you if you really have your heart set on the place, but in all honesty it isnt the best area at all to be walking around at night esspecially if its on a daily basis.

Thats very true Avantigroup. I dont know if that was directed towards me but I really didnt mean to sound like I was saying the heights is a dump, although looking back it might seem my comment was gearing towards that. Me personally I like the heights, I made that comment because for some reason I always feel like when people say the place is wonderful and not dangerous are nieve people that just moved in and are unware of what the area is like overall. I too am from close to where you said, about a half mile from duncan street, man have things taken a turn for the worse around there.

I dont mean to knock anyone here but people acctually think the heights is a nice safe place? I read a post on here where somone said that some of the yuppies are moving there (hope not) for the cheap rent? I really wouldnt advise that , if y ou want cheap rent why not go to bayonne? Its not only the same distance to NYC but its a whole lot safer. Just an opinion I dont mean to ruffle any feathers.

Honestly masteroffate your best bet is to find one of the towns outside of jersey city. Alot of people will tell you its pretty safe (or that up and coming nonsense) walking around at night in JSQ or downtown but being realistic here, its not a place you want to be walking at night. I dont know exactly what the place your coming from is like but from what I read its alot different from JC so I really wouldnt recommend this city. As far as school go, HA! please dont put your kids through that, unless they are in highschool st peters prep is the only option. I dont mean to discourage you just trying to give you an alternate option esspecially if you have kids that need to start at a new school. Defenitly check out any of the places mentioned in the posts above me.
