Re: Gaughan's Legacy!
Home away from home
Home away from home

I am not affiliated politically, I'm just stating facts and that as citizens we have the right to hold the politicians accountable. When an area such as the Heights was one of the best place to live and never had gangs, drugs and a crime problem..then we have to look at who is accountable and if they are not doing a good job we need to fire them. It's no difference that the line of work I'm, when my Account Mangers don't do a good job for a clients, we must Fire them and replace them with someone that ill do a great job and keep my clients happy and provide them a great experience.

Well I can assure you there were no drugs or gangs up on Central Ave, 15 years ago. Just this summer while driving down Central Evening around 9PM, there was this group of kids harassing people on the Ave, along with stores, in fact as I stopped in Dunkin Doughnuts the lady behind the counter told me she was locking the door after me as she was in fear and mentioned that this happens a lot in the evenings. As you drive by Washington Park, you see drugs being dealt. I stopped into the North District Police Station as I made my way home and they mentioned the natives are restless tonight and mentioned during the warm weather at times these groups of kids are uncontrollable. I have been in Jersey City 48 years and can tell you the Heights use to be the best place to live and did not have such problems.

Thank you for your support. I am very happy in what I do for a living and a proud person. Though I have no intentions to run for office, I will dedicate some of my time taking on and bringing issues front and center. It is about time we hold our elected officials accountable no matter who's administration is in office. We people of Jersey City have let this go on far too long, but it is never too late to take action. If we can get a great majority of Jersey Citizens to rise up and get involved, we will make things better in Jersey City. If we have learned anything we cannot just leave it to people we elected...if we want ACCOUNTABILITY we must demand it.

Gaughan's Legacy!
Home away from home
Home away from home

Turn back the clock 16 years, nicer stores, cleaner streets, a lot less crime, no gangs, drugs not being sold. Now store owners fear being robbed, gangs and drug dealers occupy the area..I'm talking about Central Avenue District...16 years of Bill Gaughan must be enough. While he does some nice things for Senior Citizens, like bring them ice cream, just maybe the Seniors Citizens would like to be able to take a walk on Central Avenue, shop, get their own ice cream sit on bench enjoying the ice cream, but they can't, they have to worry about being mugged. Nice job Gaughan! Gaughan would rather spend time down the shore, than Central Ave or any other part of his ward. Like Healy's camapign slogan says, Change we can see...I guess you can call that change, the wrong kind of change. Healy could not even change a councilman on his ticket who is not getting the job done. We need to make a change and Vote These Guys Out. They are out of touch. You never see Gaughan or Healy taking a stroll on Cental Avenue in the evening. If they do go to Central Ave it's during the day and with a police escort. Wonder why?

It does not help that Healy must be delusional, we have more crime, pay higher taxes, streets are filthier, there are more gangs in Jersey City than ever. Just look at the Central Ave district for example, I lived up the heights for over 20 years, we had nice stores, it was place people could shop, grab a bite to eat. In the evening you have to watch your back, gangs, drugs being sold. The poor senior citizens they don't stand a chance if they want to take a walk in the evening, nice change Healy. Gaughan, has been councilman 16 years in Ward D, great job guys in turning Central Avenue in the opposite direction. Does Gaughan still live in Jersey City, seems he spends more time in Spring Lake, maybe he should run for councilman down the shore. I know there are other areas in Jersey City that have not changed for the best either, I use Central Ave and should mention all of the Heights as an example because it was at one time one of, if not the best section of Jersey City to live, not anymore. So there is the change we can see.

Maybe our wonderful elected officials and police should pay attention to this site, perhaps Healy, the administration and police will learn there is a crime problem.

My only interest is to see Jersey City as a better place to live. I'm not running for anything, nor have any interest too. I have a great job, along with a piece of the company I work for in NYC, so again not looking for anything but Jersey City being, safer, cleaner for all of us and if we are going to pay high taxes than lets see something in return. I am just stating facts, not meant to be bashing, if you dispute any of my information, please feel free to inform me.

Here are some crime stats to support the rise in crime.

2008
Murder-27 Rape-57 Robbery-1256 Aggravated Assault-954 Burglary-1868 Larceny-4423 Auto Theft-1160 Arson-82 Overall Crime Index-9822

2007
Murder-20 Rape-47 Robbery-1248 Aggravated Assault-1106 Burglary-1504 Larceny-4082 Auto Theft-1218 Arson-100 Overall Crime Index-9325

So that means Murder is up 7, Rape up 10, Robbery up 8, Aggravated Assault down 152, Burglary up 364, Larceny up 341, Auto theft down 58, and Arson down 18. Overall crime is up by almost 500 crimes.

We can thank our Mayor for the poor job he is doing as the leader of Jersey City and fighting crime. Until we get a Mayor that is serious about fighting crime gangs and thugs will run wild in Jersey City as they have been.

I agree with you 100%....We need a search for a Police Chief. Besides living 50 miles away, some example Comey sets being so out of shape. It all starts with leadership. Between our Mayor and Police Chief..zero leadership!

While I understand that you and mrrogers are supporting
Dan Levin, whom I have met and had email correspondences with, I will agree, he would be a change from this political machine that I know all to well about in Jersey City. I might have even supported Dan, but I do know he is not going to have the war chest to win the election. Before I decided to support Manzo, who I do not know all that well, I went around speaking to many people on their thoughts about, speaking with business owners, senior citizens ect, most people said he was a decent man, while I do know he has been part of Jersey City politics for a long time, I believe he has the best chance to beat Healy. Though we still don't know what Cunningham is going to do, or support.

Hey Moron with regards to unsupported generalities like this city is crime ridden, read the Jersey Journal, it supports and has been providing much reporting on crime and the statistics about the rise in crime. I actually live in a very nice neighborhood, unfortunately a few blocks up from my neighborhood there are crime problems.

Before you go around calling someone a troll, why don't you understand the message I was conveying. This city is crime ridden and our current Mayor does not hold himself accountable. There are people like Jim Carroll whom you have spoke well about that are running and want to do something about the crime. Manzo has come out against crime, none of the other candidates have. I got a laugh out Healy's re-election slogan, Change you can see...Yeah I guess crime going up, streets filthy and higher taxes...We all see the changes he has brought us, along with Zero accountability.

Hey at the end of the day, I'm for who will hold themselves accountable as Mayor and come out against crime and do something about it. Our current Mayor won't even admit there are gangs running around Jersey City and is delusional as he says statistics show crime is down.

For the growth we have had in Jersey City, Healy has not done enough! While in numbers there might be more cop on the street, there are not enough to protect our city. Crime keeps rising, accountability belongs to the MAYOR, the leader of the city. You are correct about cops not living in Jersey City, again a leadership problem. Our Mayor must address that and we must mandate cops live in Jersey City, otherwise, how will they care about Jersey City.

Home away from home
Home away from home

While some folks wonder why Lou Manzo is running again and even criticizing him running again, they need to ask themselves the question is Jersey City better off under Healy and the current administration. The answer is no, and it is in the facts! I?m born and raised in Jersey City, living here 48 years, I lived in a few areas of Jersey City. Over the last 20 years I have lived in the heights. The Heights was a very nice place to live at one time, nice stores on Central Avenue. Now both Central, Palisade, Summit avenues for example are crime ridden and filthy. In a conversation one evening with the lady that runs Duncan Doughnuts on Central Ave, she mentioned a couple of weeks ago she had to lock the doors to the store early one evening because she feared for her life as gangs were
running up and down the streets, is that anyway to live....you call this a good quality of life. We have gangs in Jersey City, something Healy never admits to.
I have attended some association meetings. At these meetings, the number one topic has been quality of life in Jersey City, mainly the crime issue. These meetings also had some police officers attending and they all say the same thing - they do not have enough manpower nor the tools and equipment to do the proper job. . Well, when our mayor and his administration do not do whatever it takes to protect their citizens and let us continue with the status quo and live in danger, then he and the administration do not belong running Jersey City. The mayor and his administration are accountable for this situation. We have extremely high taxes. Where are our taxes going? The number one place should be towards citizen safety. We must vote Healy and most of the current administration out! Citizens of Jersey City, it is up to us to elect officials that can get the job done - manage and spend our taxes correctly, provide a great quality of life, and ensure public safety. Jersey City is a prime location and should be a world-class city. It will not happen under this administration. Let?s support Lou Manzo and his ticket, a true fighter, who has yet to give up in making Jersey City a safe and better place for us to live.

The population continues to grow in Jersey City and the police force does not. That is a recipe for disaster. Now no doubt Healy will say Jersey City does not have the money to resolve this problem. Well, when our mayor and his administration do not do whatever it takes to protect their citizens and let us continue with the status quo and live in danger, then he and the administration do not belong running Jersey City.
