I'd be more than happy to tip a percentage to many of my Uber drivers, a lot of them are WAY more personable and professional than your typical cabby. Did they launch their new app yet, is that going to be built in? i hope so.

Time to pump the brakes a bit, you sound like a stuck-up broad.

You've done your part and complained to the manager that you find the store to be unwelcoming to guests, and your next step should be to contact their corporate office. Turn to social media if you must, FB and Twitter have proven very effective and getting issues resolved.

Boycott the store in the meantime by checking out some of the other local coffeeshops that others here have suggested. Many of them offer a great atmosphere for relaxing and enjoying a cup of "good" coffee.

I'll 2nd the hitch mount rack, they are the easiest to use, and remove when you aren't planning to use them.

A few things to consider:
? You do need to install a hitch (CURT brand comes to mind)
? gaining access to your hatch with the rack installed can sometimes be funky, depending on if the rack has a tilt/swing arm. Not really an issue if you can fold down the rear seat.

Anything that is going to mount to your car's body panels could damage the paint over time, if that is a concern.

As unsightly as it would be for residential streets, I bet putting hash lines to designate spots would help. I see so much wasted space between cars, enough room to park 4-5 motorcycles but barely enough for a subcompact. So often I see people park smack in the middle of a 30ft gap, not allowing enough room for anyone to park in front of, or behind them.

I don't have a car in JC, but I definitely have noticed that the parking situation in the HP area has gotten worse over the last year or two. My guess is that some of this us attributed to the new condos going up. I keep my car at a relatives house outside of JC, and I'll only use it when I need to travel for long hours/distances or days at a time. I don't know if I'll ever bother having a car here, as I've managed to get by just fine with biking/Uber/Zipcar.

Just out of curiosity, but what are you doing during school hours that require the use of a parking spot? School is from, what 8?3pm when most non-students are at work, or are working from home. Are there that many stay-at-home moms who need to run errands during the day? Not being critical, but as a non-driver, I'm trying to figure out the competition that the students are bringing to the table for parking during these hours.

And neither does ignoring it, especially if that fire was set for no good reason.

While I appreciate the freedom we all have to say what we feel, I would like to think that lashing out against bigotry is still by far the normal response.

Hey man, if you have a successful track record of convincing people to break from their beliefs OVER THE INTERNET, Id love to hear how that works. Otherwise maybe Google what an "internet troll" is to see what kind of battle you'll be fighting.

I'll take a dose of my own medicine now.

But he is close to single-handedly (with at least a nod to Yvonne, Monroe, et al) making this site something to avoid rather than being the useful community resource it could - and occasionally used to - be. Who's the guy that always walks up/down the Plaza asking for you to buy him food? He REFUSES to take money, insisting that he's not a "beggar." He'll start by chewing your ear off with some casual conversation that always leads to food. I offered him a dollar and he wouldn't have any of it, stating "You can't buy nothing for a dollar!" When I told him that if he collected 4-5 dollars, he could buy something, he got so pissed off and walked away ? it was awesome. I'm convinced he's just looking for a dinner date to front the bill.

Take the time to educate yourself, do your research and go to a dealer and inspect the car in person. The internet sites are great for finding a car, but seriously, buying a car over the internet is just lazy and dumb. Would you buy a house over the internet? Or a child? Do yourself a favor, put up with the small amount of frustration of visiting different dealerships and talking to real people, you'll be more likely to get better information first hand and might be able to get better pricing/discounts/incentives.

Never had an issue with GSB. They've always been accommodating, even going out of there way to help. The staff can be a bit disorganized at times, but the owner (Rodney) has always stepped up to the plate to make things right. Hopefully you'll give them another shot in the future.

My landlord paid a day laborer (possibly a neighborhood kid) to paint our fire escape. I swear, you could have gotten a gorilla to do a better job. Paint dripping down the entire side of the building, all over potted plants, all over window screens, all over the ground, super sloppy. Pay someone who takes pride in their work, they'll be more careful with your property and most likely with their own safety.

I honestly had no idea the city even had a recreation department, but then again I don't have kids, so that might be part of it. I just grab my bike, running shoes, ball, frisbee, camera, fishing pole or a bag lunch and had outdoors to the nearest open space and do my thing. As long as the city has available open space, isn't that all you need? Sorry, not trying to be critical, maybe this has more to do with organized youth sports or access to specific facilities? I always find myself with plenty of things to do around town, it's just my responsibility to provide my own tools.

Major annoyance. If a sidewalk must be blocked, then a walkway should be made where the cars park. There's no signage, no walkway and pedestrians have to squeeze between cars and walk in the street to get around that monstrosity. Given how long that church has been half done, I'd say that blue box is going to be there for years. It's horrible having to walk out onto Jersey Ave like that. People get hit on that street all the time.

Please contact Candice about it. http://www.cityofjerseycity.com/citycouncil.aspx?id=1224

Ya man, this whole operation makes no sense. First the area was blocked off with tape for 2-3 weeks, then they put this thing up. What are they even doing? I'll definitely be writing Candice, it's super dangerous how people are walking in the street, and I gotta believe it's a matter of time until cars start to get damaged from parking there (people squeezing through). The things you can get away with in the name of God?

From what I overheard by a witness, a Jeep Cherokee was "following" another car and took the turn onto First too fast, hit the curb and flipped. I'm not sure if anyone was hurt, hopefully not. This intersection is incredibly dangerous in the morning, I've nearly been hit at least a dozen times. Two way traffic with people speeding to the tunnel, as well as drivers blinded by the sun trying to cross Jersey.

That corner may well be dangerous, but that particular instance sounds more like operator error and/or an issue with that model. Cherokees from model year 2012 and earlier are somewhat prone to flip; and I don't think there is anything about the design of that particular intersection which encourages drivers to speed or drive recklessly.

Ya? no. You have a 2 intersections that are about 20 yards apart. I'm sure horses and buggies were able to navigate this just fine, not so much the 2 ton death sleds of today. Driver error indeed.

If you were having a medical emergency on a train, would you want to be yanked off and dumped on the platform?

(And yes, I also got stuck this morning.)

Being yanked and dumped sounds like extreme behavior from my fellow passengers, but yes, i'd want to get off the train as soon as possible.
