Newark ave new lane marking near cemetary entrance

Anyone know whether the new lane marking on Newark Avenue hear the cemetery entrance is permanent ? It's barely visible and some people are following it while others are completely ignoring it. I think it's only a matter of time before someone following it collides with someone ignoring it.

huh... where are seeing that ? I didn't see a single page with the mayor and I went through quite a few.

My main problem is the UI. That jagged bold font with with white on black and blank makes it very hard to read. Add to the that the layout, the navigation structure. Just a disaster.

Fulop's own website is so much better. Don't know why they didn't go with the same designer.

UI is just terrible on so many levels. Everything from the color scheme to the choice of fonts, spacing between the font elements, navigation structure.

Not sure what they're trying to attract, raggae band listening hipsters?

Seems like a lot of people here would say the same thing about you. I just hope you are just as understanding and nonchalant if one day you irked someone by mouth off and they decided to react to you in the same way as this violent criminal

Another vote for Secaucus DMV . It's quick and free, efficeint huge difference from when I used to live New York State where I had to make an appointment once a year, wait more than an hour pay about $30 when it was done.

This is one of the most under rated perks of living in Jersey IMO. :)

Hasn't rent controlled already been proven the world over to be responsible for dilapidated cities (Mumbai comes to mind)? Doesn't it cause landords to stop spending on the upkeep of their building? I am surprised anyone would propose this in 2017.

Type in your address to see if your property is colored in, indicating it has been inspected. Obviously if it is colored in and you had no idea it had been inspected, that's bad and you should call the asinj company. For those of us not yet colored in, I was told to sit tight.Quote:

Not sure how accurate those maps are. I am at Liberty harbor I have had inspector come into my unit and inspect it. However according to the map the only thing that has been inspected in my neighborhood is that little park near Zepellin hall.

Re: Citing chain store ban, Jersey City aims to block new CVS

Chain stores with their mass and scale are able to procure everything at a lower cost. In additions they have very streamlined logistics and operations. They are able to and do pass on some of this savings to their customers. I am sure if this CVS was open, it would probably have lower prices than Downtown Pharmacy.

Depends on what you're looking to buy. If the area where CVS was looking to locate was already saturated with drugstores, I guess it doesn't matter. Still, I don't like local government or anyone else deciding what kind of shopping is best for me. The capitalist system is far from perfect, but this is one area where government intervention is unnecessary and oversteps what consumers prefer. If you hate the chain stores so much, keep supporting the local stores as much as possible and don't go to the chains. But don't deny me where I want to shop.

I don't rent but I have auto insurance through Geico and and got my Condo H06 insurance through them. I can't recommend them highly enough. Every time I've shopped around, they always seem to have the lowest rate. Their customer service reps are incredibly nice and their mobile apps are the best designed apps I have come across. Also you can earn things like "Accident forgiveness" if you've been with them a while and haven't had any records.

phew, Good thing they didn't listen to you :). It would have ruined the the streetscape permanently. I think new elevated lines are now only built in poorer countries like India and Thailand where they don't care about streetscapes.

Hi guys,
Anyone here know of a good local tax advisor/professional. I have a situation where the accounting firm that does the taxes for my father's estate made some mistakes and I might need to redo 3 or years worth of taxes. My taxes have always been pretty straight forward so I have always used turbo tax?

As a driver, I have to say the prevailing "pedestrian can do no wrong" attitude doesn't help solve the problem at all. I see a lot of pedestrians with earbuds, crossing when they're not supposed to, taking their sweet time getting across. I think there has to be a multi pronged approach where Jay walkers are actively treated as as driver not yielding to pedestrians.

Same for me, I have never been charged sales tax there, in fact they always round the price to benefit the customer. if your total comes to $16.54 they will only charge you $16.50[/quote]

had the same experience there several times.

Re: Commute Advice: Jersey City (Downtown) to Secaucus (Harmon Meadow)

I live in the Grove Street (Liberty Harbor) and work near the Mill Creek mall which is on the other side of Harmon Meadow.

I am curious why driving there is not an option? I ask because this is one of those few situations, driving there is so, so much more advantageous in terms of time and money , it just doesn't make sense to consider anything else. The drive from Grove street area to Harmon meadow should be no more than 20 to 25 minutes depending on the traffic. The alternatives all require transfers, and take a minimum of 30 additional minutes each when all is said and done. For me, the fact I have an extra every day during working days is huge.
Also since the distance is less than 7 miles, the amount of money I spend on gas for commute is less than $60 a month.

How does the reval affect tax abatment properties
#53
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Are buildings with tax abatements really protected from this reval?
I ask because I am currently in a building with 30 year (1.67%) tax abatement. I have been paying the same amount of taxes the last 8 years although the property is gone up in value by roughly 40%. My next door neighbor who has the same exact unit pays about $1000 more because he bought his property a few years later and paid more for it therefore his taxes are 1.67% of a larger number.

I guess my question is, doesn't the abatement only guarantee the percentage I will pay will not go above 1.67% of the value of my place? If that's the case I don't know what the all the whining about tax abatement properties is all about.

I have never really under why people are against this or foreigners investing in real estate here in NJ. These people end up paying a lot in property taxes which goes to fund schools here and it's a safe bet they're not making use the schools system here.

I am sure some of these same people are the ones complaining about teachers not getting paid enough, pensions not getting funded etc etc. The money has to come from somewhere right?

Looks like Angela McKnight took a page straight of of the socialist third world country's manual for a newly elected lawmaker.

This is the kind of thing they do a lot in places like India. Don't make any improvements, don't even bother proposing improvements because that would be to hard. As soon as your elected, propose renaming the airport, school or highway after one of your old clan leaders.

Such an incredibly stupid and superficial argument. On the one hand you seem to saying bringing up the typical apologist for Islam argument of "oh we are just as bad as them, if not worse", by bringing up white supremacists. On the other hand you are suggesting Jihadist killings in America are the only thing that matter. Why is this issue on the front burner to begin with?

I think not having the ability to realize the gravity of the fact there were/are people among us, who will willing cheer while thousands of innocent civilians got killed is what makes you really dumb. You don't need a thousand of people with that kind of mindset, even ten or twenty can do serious damage.
