This type of corruption is disgusting! What is even more disgusting is the entire City Council (with the exception of Steve Fulop) voting to approve the hiring of this drug dealer. I don't know exactly when the next council election is but I can only hope these corrupt Council members are swept from their seats!

I,m sorry but if this whole episode doesn't show some sought of inbreeding at work here nothing will! A woman with 2 Goverment paychecks hiring her drug dealing son.
Than her right to do so is defended by Corporation Counsel Bill Matsikoudis, whose brother attorney Bill Matsikoudis seems to be defending the Councilwomans son. This is from the same administration that brought to us lateral transfers of Police Officers from middletown NJ who happen to be the Mayors relative! This is disgusting and shows a definite mixing of DNA in City Hall!

The hiring of this drug dealer is an affront to all residents of Jersey City. I am constantly reading about residents complaining of drug dealing in their neighborhood. Now a sitting city councilwoman, who herself has two goverment salarys totaling roughly $ 140,000. to $150,000 has her son (a drug dealer) hired too not one but 2 goverment jobs! Perhaps councilwoman Flood is on her way to becoming the Jersey City version of Camdens "Wayne Bryant"! Help can not be sought from the City Council because they are all on multiple payrolls with the exception of Councilman Fulop! Any chance of Mayor Healy putting an end to this insanity?

Councilman, I seen your people out there on Monday. I wish you luck with the referendum but somehow I feel that the old school politicians that you are seeking to make give up one of their jobs are NOT going to go easily.
But in any event good luck, it takes a lot of guts to do what your doing in a political enviroment such as we have.

It is scary though to think that these officers were promoted because of who their freinds are as the one poster previously pointed out. There should be some type of bonafide selection process wouldn't you think?

i do not know much about politics, but Steve Fulop from what I have been reading seems to be a very engaged reperesentative for this area. This is refreshing to see in this day and age. I also can not imagine how any one can make a reasonable case that Jersey City Council members should be employed by another entity that at times may have divergent interests from Jersy City's which they are sworn to represent.

Are these officers who were promoted able to be so because of their connections to a freind? If this is the case this is deplorable, all of our safety is at stake and you would think at least in a job such as public safety that political connections could be taken out! God we are in trouble.

I recently ate at the Brownstone and I thought it was pretty good, I liked the bustling atmosphere. I also liked the flamingo and thought it felt like a real neighborhood place. I really haven't had the chance to make it to other parts of the city yet for the other recommendations on this thread but I am looking forward to sampling those eateries also.

Recently I posted on this site about my reluctance to shop at the Pathmark store on Grand St. I felt it was somewhat unkempt and I felt a little unsafe. However after reading this article about those teenage girls wearing those funny tee-shirts I may have to reconsider my negativity on Pathmark. I think that the comedy would be worth the risk.
