I'm in the VVP section and would definitely go there. If you make crepes (one word: Nutella), Mr JCI and I will be your best friends.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I was mainly asking because I have two main areas that I'm looking at: closer to Newark Ave and closer to Bright St near Van Vorst park. I can see how these spots differ, but I was wondering how much crossover they might get.
And yes, I will have both vegan and non-vegan options, but no meat products unless they are faux.
I will also allow "lounging" and working and may have a communal table table or two.
I would like to open early for the pre-work crowd, but I'd also like to host events at night.
Any more feedback would be great.

I counted about 50 outside, and heard the AP reporter say 35. but inside the chamber, all seats were occupied, so there were more. I'm guessing the chamber fits 200?

That's probably because the PA system in the chamber is horrible. We could barely hear 75% of the speakers at the front.

Have you picked an OB/GYN yet?

My old neighbor delivered her baby at St. Mary's last year and had nothing but wonderful things to say about her doctor and the hospital. I can't remember the name of the doctor, but his office is located in the hospital.

Another friend had her baby at NYU and was also very happy with her experience there. Her doctor was with Downtown Women's OB/GYN.

I love Tia's, too, even though they do not carry my size (despite my repeated requests for the past 5 years). I go there for accessories, gifts, and to help my girlfriends get some retail therapy.

Does anyone have any updates on the proposed case against the JCMUA or any communications with the NJDEP and US EPA?

Our basement level neighbors have been experiencing flooding and sewage backup over the past week or so, due to the incessant rains.

Besides contacting City Hall, Councilman Fulop, JCMUA, NJ DEP and US EPA, what else do we need to do as residents who continue to have issues in JC?

Hey chief!

I personally haven't rented out our place to short-term vacationers, so I can't give you any insight from that end. But I just rented a Parisian apartment on http://www.vrbo.com/ for an upcoming trip and had a great experience as a short-term renter through that site.

Let us know what site you ultimately use and how the experience was.

Reminds me of my nasty old French teacher in HS who got hauled away one afternoon. He was definitely not good-looking, and had a creepy mustache. Apparently he got jiggy with a former student in South Jersey, and of course rumors spread that he had relations with 2 girls in our school.

Any Academic alums here remember Monsieur Covais?

LOL bolew! I feel your pain! It's even worse for me because I understand the language!

But as much as I rag on TFC, I actually do watch that channel quite a bit - for Philippine news, pinoycentric American news, and one Manila-based design/architecture show that a friend of mine hosts.

Anyway, about 10 yrs ago, a friend of mine bought her first home and moved to JC. She was born here and thought it would be fun to have TFC in her home and subscribed to it. When she realized how crappy 90% of the shows were, she cancelled her subscription. one day she mistakenly pressed 670 and found out that she was still getting TFC. That's how I found out that it was "free" in JC. That is, until this whole Comcast HD reboot, when they realized they'd been sending out the signal for free for nearly a decade.

I guess I'll have to rely on reading my news on the web, and watching my friend's show on youtube.

PS: Oi, yung nagmumura dyan, wag naman ganyan. Konting respeto naman, ok?

We received our sample ballots today, too. I had no idea there was a primary election next Tuesday. The only name I recognize on this entire sheet is Jon Corzine's, but I suppose it doesn't really matter as most of the Dem hopefuls are running unopposed.

Oh, so Asians can't ever be racist, right? Haha!

Anyway, not "everything" here is being boiled down to racism. Just your posts.

What's sad is that you're not even aware of it. What, your racist remark isn't racist because it was said sarcastically? Or in jest? Honey, you need to look up the term one of these days. Better yet, look in the mirror.

TIA.

Jaded, in your last few posts, you managed to stereotype East Asians as weak and unable to defend themselves, Arabs as terrorists, and South Asians as unable to speak fluent English.

Way to go! This, along with your unnecessary call for a boycott, should make your parents proud! Woohoo!

Why in the world would the military run tests above such a densely-populated city like JC, and so close to NYC?, my neighbor asked. I don't buy it either. Oh, and there are a whole lot more sirens than usual. Waiting for official reports.

Lots of folks on Grove St just looking up with mouths agape. Still no official reports. We need info here.

Damn planes woke me up and shook my building!

A neighbor just told me that he saw a large plane being chased by a figher jet. He (and several others according to JCPD and 911 operators) have called and reported the same thing and were told that "the military is running tests" and wouldn't provide any more info.

Well, I hope the finish running these tests soon. I need my beauty sleep!

I've never had a problem at Taqueria, nor have any of my many friends who've gone there on my recommendation. And apparently, none of the many folks who flock there for dinner or even takeout have, either.

Anyway, looking forward to the two-block parade for Cinco de Mayo this Friday!

I'm so happy that this bike shop is finally open!

Checked out the shop yesterday and was very impressed with the knowledge & helpfulness of the folks working there. Even though the store didn't have any bikes in my price range and purpose (I'm just a light recreational biker), one of the guys took time out to show me the various bikes, explain the differences between them, and give me some recs.

Now I'm gonna have to convince Mr. Insomniac to let me increase my bike budget so I can buy one from Grove St. Bicyles!

ansky, ING has steadily reduced our savings int rate over the past 3-4 years, and is currently giving us 1.5%.

So this afternoon, I transferred a bulk of our balance to BOA, which is offering 2%. Capital One on Newark has a HY Savings account for 2% as well. (I actually drove up to Wachovia by the mall, but they already closed their doors at 2:55pm so I figured they wouldn't be making money off of my money.

I've been a BOA customer for over 10 years with no problems. I mainly just use them for my checking account. Their interest rates are terrible for savings accounts so I use ING for that. I never had a BOA credit card so I can't comment on that.
