It doesn't matter if it's residential, commercial, industrial or a zone for fairies. The city planners allowed for this co-existence that appears hasn't worked and intervention is needed. Cityhall has to take into consideration that they allowed and zoned a permanent residential base in the area and a transient 'drinking' crowd on week-ends has caused the problem. Once the owners of the restaurants focused more on the needs of their drinking patrons, the more they became accountable for the QOL issues thrust upon their neighbors !

I'm pretty sure that liquor licensing laws would state it is illegal to serve patrons that are intoxicated or even appear intoxicated ... if I'm right, then we shouldn't have any 'drunks' on the streets at closing time or anytime at all in the plaza ! Police could issue penalties or even suspend / cancel their licence (if they wanted) to bars and restaurants if anyone does walk out of their premises drunk !

How about not choosing to live on or near a street riddled with restaurants?

That's a silly argument as cityhall allowed this proximity to occur; planning zones of businesses with a 'night club' element next door to residents.
Cityhall must take ownership for this problem and either they should of had an 'entertainment precinct' void of residents or introduced conditions for late night liquor licences so at not to cause an anti-social element to residents - Blame lays with city planners. It should be noted that restuarants in general, don't cause issues, but when a so-called 'restaurant' operates like a bar and its sole purpose is to sell beer and it targets patrons from a younger demographic, then that's a different story !

With a poor history of police corruption, abuse and illegal activities, how long will it be before one of these 'new recruits' gets caught doing something wrong?

JCPD have a crap vetting HR department for recruits and their ethical standards appear to be geared to a reactive approach. We only seem to discover 'bad' police within the JCPD if another PD or law enforcement agency catches them !

My predication for Trump will be that he will shaft the very people that elected him ... Trump is no doubt an elitist, narcissist and sociopath.

I'm predicting worse conditions for the average working stiffs with reduced services (but increased costs) in health care and education. He'll definitely increase the number of prisons and increase the budgets to law enforcement (to keep them on side) and increase military budgets to employ more 'grunts / cattle fodder', to act / intimidate as the muscle for corporate America.

Manufacturing will never be what it was in the 30's - 60's as there are cheaper labor costs / availabilities abroad without all the environmental and labor red tape associated with production. I'm betting Trump is a huge advocate for globalization (many of his investments are abroad not to mention a golf course!) and will view it too expensive to operate in the US.

I'm betting Trump see's the main financial asset the US does extremely well, is the development of armaments and weapons and he'll do everything to protect that industry as it has proven to be an asset for corporate America.

I believe he will show total contempt to the needs of average 'joe citizen' - He knows how to manipulate 'joe citizen' but will never show empathy to the common man and only provide lip service to keep them on-board with his verbal attack on how bad things were.

Exactly! There's no reason the existing cops can't police that area.

Taxes haven't got anything to do with it ... We all pay taxes and some may want a cop at HP or VVP ! There are liquor licensing laws in place that are simply being ignored ... if we the community demanded it and were vocal, then the cops would pull their fingers out and start issuing fines as would cityhall officials

There are some valid points and good suggestions.

1. Two cops in full uniform FOOT PATROLLING in the plaza during those nights of high consumption and anti-social behavior.

2. Pubs and Bars should be billed for the police presence.

3. Pubs and Bars issued with infringements for serving or failing to monitor intoxicated patrons.

4. Pubs and Bars issued with infringements for allowing intoxicated patrons to remain on their premises or allowing them in.

5. Pubs and Bars billed for cityhall clean up crews (over-time rates) the next morning.

Once Pubs and Bars are made accountable (as per ordinances / laws already in place) the better the area will be ... unfortunately when you have off-duty cops working for the same pubs and bars like in Hoboken, no fines will ever be written ... CCTV cameras would sort all that out, but I'm betting the cops will covertly disagree with that solution as it could highlight poor policing of the area !

Re-post ... I posted it in the 'wrong' thread and was deleted ... Hoping this is the correct one!

It's crazy with this increased military spending - Our so called 'enemies' spend very little and can at times outwit and outplay us. Military spending needs to be halved, with a focus on technology and less 'foot-soldiers', but rather small specialist soldiers then simple grunts.

I don't see ISIS or any so called threats with a massive naval armada as ours or the endless supply of tanks and planes (not to mention all the surplus crap we have). Neither China or Russia would ever invade the US; why would they? How in the hell would they be able to have an occupying force within the US? We wouldn't be able to in their countries ... All this increase will do is go to fill the pockets of government contractors and raise the incomes of senior military personal who as 'yes' men to Trump's (or any president in power) requests

The increase is stupid and 40% should be removed from the military budget and passed onto the health, manufacturing and education of this country, that's if we truly want to remain viable and competitive.

Our ex-mayor Healy will be pissed if anyone restricts his bar from operating when he wants or imposes some sort of conditions that might effect his cash flow ... if anything is needed it is CCTV cameras in the area, to help control anti-social behavior and make those accountable for damage

Every person other then our wonderful native Indians, is or was, by previous generations, a result of someone being a refugee.

Being a refugee or immigrant, still requires you to follow a legal procedure / circumstance to enter and should never be denied to anyone.

Illegal aliens are a total different subject, as they wish to cheat the system and or process (Queue jumping).

You made a similar claim some years ago. I call BS on this. The only time a helicopter would fly within two or three feet of a surface would be then landing on it. The human eye is extremely unreliable when it comes to measuring distances, particularly at far enough distances, or at certain angles.

If you do not witness something, then it is B.S? The world revolves around you? You are wrong.

Unfortunately Yvonne, you do have a reputation (in my mind) of a sensationalized view on many topics and claims. Next time you see a helicopter hovering 2-3 feet from your building or any building, take a photo to re establish some credibility and in turn, you'll have evidence to your claim and complaint - I'd assume that the down force winds generated by the helicopter within 2-3 feet from your home would cause some damage to your roofing, trees and scatter loose items / bins all over the place!
I've been in helicopters and the down force winds are strong and would cause damage to residential buildings being so close ... especially roof shingles

Jersey City Krispy Kreme attracts long lines -- and illegal parking

The hottest new attraction in Downtown Jersey City is Krispy Kreme, where day and night lines of people wait for 45 minutes or longer for freshly fried doughnuts.

Judging by the lines of cars outside the Krispy Kreme entrance, the doughnut chain attracts a ton of illegal parkers, too.

There is no street parking directly outside the entrance of the shop, located on the first floor of a 19-story office building, but that hasn't stopped its patrons from illegally parking in the no-parking zones along Marin Boulevard and Columbus Drive.
