Unless I'm a little behind, wasn't this all sold to Cordish in 2006 or so? Baltimore Inner Harbor developers, plus a whole lot of other retail and entertainment venues in other cities. They generally do a decent job, though it's certainly no secret that it will become some kind of retail/commercial development. This is how they make money, you see.

Considering how far the leasing has come inside the mall, and the fact they've renovated as much as they have , again, inside... I wouldn't be surprised if you see more integration of the mall into the neighborhood now that the neighborhood is so substantially different than it was in the 80's.

Those decks can be reconfigured, a plaza run "up the middle" to open it more to face Hamilton Park, they could even run small retail spaces in front of the decks ON Marin and 6th (outside only) to blend it in a little more. a lot of suburban malls are doing this (or were planning to anyway)..."lifestyle" additions so people can use the outside of the mall only for "small trip" shopping.. something to think about.

Dear Jesus.... I guess journalism IS dead. If that didn't regurgitate every hack cliche in the history of "I'm from New Jersey" , I don't know what does. Good riddance.

Fox, did you find the square footage as listed matched those you measured or perceived?

So I guess the Beacon has been finally priced at around $300/listed square foot giver or take a little. Oops... plus 10%!

Pretty sure R is RIALTO and C is CAPITOL, two of the names of the individual buildings in the complex.

it's a great rehab, nicely done, odd area, but with potential. Took 2.5 years to fill it though, and notice, one quoted person is a renter.

True.
I'm confusing it, no doubt with Millburn, or Short Hills, or Summit, or Madison.
They blend together in my mind into the Greater Metropolitan Faux-Village Sprawl.
So move to Millburn.

*lol* I know where you're goin'. The thing is I think you really are thinking more about "faux-village" lifestyle centers trying to emulate downtowns. Like "The Promenade at Clifton" on Rt. 3. (I know, it even sounds hysterical). Short of a few herringbone brick sidewalks, most of the downtowns you mention still actually DO retain their individuality ... 90% independent shops, no stucco storefronts, walkability.

Can we take a step back here? FAB INVENTS a speculative "saga" of some "overseas" worker? When he knows virtually NOTHING about what happened to this person and why? It's EXACTLY what I said.. speculative idiocy. To call out MY comment as worthless when I just read a four paragraph MADE UP story about what happened to this poor soul?

you'd be crazy to think those carts are even a penny less than $3000/mo, and $25,000+ for holiday (Nov/Dec). Quote:

that's not true, the carts at newport mall is cheaper than a storefront. You also get far more traffic than any store outside of the mall. It's a cost effective way to market test your product as a first step, to figure out if it sells and the type of buyers (as the mall has a balanced population of ghetto to upscale shoppers). Then you can target your buyer group and do something else if it works out.

Anyway i love japanese trinkets, they are so well constructed. Maria, do you have a link to your online store?

i wonder what a 300's studio might be like in there? Sure, I know its a ton of money but on a high floor that could be something kind of cool, no?

from the DB database:

The rear area of Newport Mall, Mall Drive East, as well as the light rail
stop at Pavonia/Newport, will be shut down for 18 to 24 hours due to fallen
glass and potential hazardous risks in this area due to high winds.
