We have seen management companies charge from $50 to $100 per month for this service with varying levels of satisfaction from people we've spoken with.

Cheers.

Good people and everyone I know that uses them is very happy with their services.

Watch - now I am never going to be able to get an appointment

+1, been going there since 1997. I see Dr. DeMarco and he is excellent. Both are very good. Super easy to get appts and easy to get there. If your sick they will get you in. The office is closed from 1 to 2 for lunch (M-F).

Actually, she served in this position prior to the Healy, Smith and Cunningham administrations. Cultural Affairs was under the Health Department (reason unknown to me) for many years.

Fourth, nowhere has Ms. Kelleher complained publicly about this. I assume she would like to continue on, but she has acted with class and understands what a policy making position is all about.

Very well stated.

JP, we may have to agree to disagree on this one. Maryanne is well liked by the community in all wards. She is a "by the book" person and has made herself available 24/7 to anyone that needed her assistance. For those who are truly upset with this executive decision and are publicly commenting on other social media sites and some on this site are not known as "anti-Fulop". It seems to be more of a venting and support for a well liked employee.

It's sad to see some of the postings attacking Maryanne and Elizabeth. Neither of them deserve it. I truly hope this administration utilizes Maryanne properly in whatever capacity they put her in. She is smart, honest and passionate woman, who will shine in whatever her next role will be for Jersey City.

I started the Neighborhood Feral Cat Initiative in 2009 to address the JC feral problem and to create a public dialogue about community and feral cats. We train residents how to Trap Neuter Return. We loan traps for free. And we provide grant funding to pay for the spaying and neutering.

Since 2009 we have spayed and neutered 2,000+ community/feral cats mostly in Jersey City. Hundreds of residents have taken the training workshop. All of this has been done without any municipal/government funding and without any paid employees.

Imagine what you can do with some funding and paid employees.

I have a question on this. How do I know if a local cat has been TNRed? Is there some kind of tag or mark on it? Obviously, you can tell with male cats but not females.

I had to wait until mid Feb. to get my shot and went to Walgreens on Washington in Hoboken since my GP was all out. I was in and out in 15 minutes. For those who feel it's late in the season and passing on the shot, last year I had the Flu at the end of March and I had it bad. I wasn't cleared to go back to work for almost 2 weeks. My suggestion is to contact:

YWCA Battered Women's Program 270 Fairmont Avenue Jersey City, NJ 07306 (201) 333-5700

Many moms and children enter this program and some times arrive with just the clothing on their back. The Director is very honest and will tell you if they are or they are not in need.

Re: Can one claim damage from building insurance if doesnt have renters insurance?
#49
Home away from home
Home away from home

A thorough standard lease will have a clause that reminds tenants their belongings are not covered by the landlord?s insurance and recommends they obtain a renter?s policy. Tenants are not covered under the insurance of the property owner who is insured for the physical building (structure) and the property owners possessions..

An exception to the above clause can occur if the landlord was aware of a prior hazardous condition, failed to correct it in a reasonable time frame, and as a result your property was damaged. If the building contractor caused this to happen he should have been licensed and bonded. You may have a claim against both the landlord and contractor.

Have you spoke with the property owner and he/she has refused to compensate you for the damage to you personal belongings? You may be able to sue in NJ Civil Court which has a threshold on the amount you can sue for.

Good luck.

Otherwise, we cannot afford this. This council forgets that we cannot handle anymore tax increases. Period. I thought they knew that during the last election. I thought they said they could cut spending. Has the Healy budget become the new normal?

In the past seven years, four people have been killed in traffic-related incidents within six blocks of my home (two pedestrians, one bicyclist and a passenger in a car.) How can we afford not to do this?

Any plan is better than no plan and I'm thrilled to finally see someone putting effort into this matter since the problem is getting worse as the years go on. The key is to obtain as much federal and state grants as possible. Jersey City sees nothing from The Port Authority of NY & NJ even though our roads and neighborhoods are greatly impacted from the Holland Tunnel.

As La_Verdad stated "how can we afford not to do this?"

Just be careful. Also know that Animal Control will not pick up the raccoons, skunks & possums till after August. State law prohibits their relocation because they may have young.

There is no law that prohibits the capture and removal of wildlife during breeding seasons. What the law states is: "Before relocating any adult wildlife during the spring and summer, a search for their newborns should be conducted. If found, these young must be relocated with the adults."

The State of New Jersey requires all municipalities to provide Animal Control Services and under this requirement "Response to and capture of nuisance wildlife (i.e., healthy appearing raccoons in garbage or on property not threatening humans, squirrels in attics, etc.) is NOT a required service under statute for municipal animal control to provide."

Jersey City Animal Control has been very helpful to residents to provide assistance (when possible) for those who have nests on their property. Animal Control will respond to any wildlife in a persons living quarters.

It all depends on your budget. There are many great spaces ie: art gallerias that you can create a beautiful event by renting all the tables, chairs, linens and hire a local caterer.

Content Party Rentals is one example of a place that you can look at to get an idea of the total cost.

If you do not want to do this yourself look at places like http://www.michaelanthonynj.com/ that has a great view with accommodation for small parties in a private space. Althea has some great ideas and the venues are terrific, just not sure what the cost is at the end of the day.

I would lean towards a DYI if your creative and can visualize the space once you fill it. If you care to leave JC I love the upstairs at the Chart House for small parties and they take care of everything the same for Liberty House.

Best of Luck and Congrats!
