Councilman Khemraj "Chico" Ramchal, who was arrested on March 14 and charged with drunken driving, will plead not guilty, his attorney told The Jersey Journal today.

The councilman issued a public apology the week after the collision and pledged to seek counseling, but his attorney, John J. Bruno Jr., said he has gathered facts that he believes will exonerate his client.

"I feel very strongly about his innocence," Bruno said today.

they do it because they know they will have an easier time getting out of it than we do.

i myself hope he does get arrested and put in jail for breaking the law. i have nothing against him personally but i do realize he is an idiot and shouldn't have a career in politics

seems to me this guy was over hyped from the start. makes bad decisions. bad choices of "things we should care about" and just bad over all. Fulop needs to send this clown packing as well.

and they still havnt told us why was he in a hurry that he needed to have his sirens and lights on (wich is a waste of money to begin with to give to a councilman)

careful! do not pay any repair unless you were directly responsible.

also in most cases with holding rent becomes a huge PITA legally they can come after you as per most leases and renting laws.

any repairs are to be done by the owner unless caused by the renter.

same goes for some shady owners who try to force renters to pay maintenance or taxes. none of these are legal. you pay the agreed rent and that is what is legally binding (utilities and the such are case by case)

wealthy people who prey on the lower class and poor to further their riches
abusers of systems put in place to help those in need (both ends of the stick)
the constant need for our elected officials to try to stick their noses in other countries issues because of the previously mentioned reasons
the so called "moral majority" and their need to outline "their" view of what this country needs to look like as per their religion or beliefs.
everyone's BS need to entitlement or so called rights
allegiances to countries that serve no use to us what so ever

those are just some of the real reasons we are in the situations we are in

Out of curiosity, under what legal theory? You realize that couples get preferential government treatment under a large number of circumstances, right? Taxes (marriage penalty aside), adoption, inheritance, and others?

By the way, this is optimal policy as we want to encourage people to couple up rather than let society continue to devolve.

We want to? Who is we?

And why do we want to encourage people to couple up? People should couple up if they want to and are capable of doing so (emotionally, etc). For this reason, we shouldn't offer outside incentives which could push people who aren't ready into committed relationships.

And how has society continued to devolve?

I'm willing to bet a majority of people in this country understand that society is better when most people get married. We also don't want children born out of wedlock.

If you don't see how society is devolving then I don't know what to tell you. But feel free to look at the poll tracking people's impression of the direction of the country and tell me what you conclude from that. One of the reasons the country is going to hell in a hand basket is that we have a bunch of people that shun marriage. Therefore, I'm happy that we're upping the incentives to commit to someone.

Re: Science fun? Book at Liberty Science Center teaches kids how to make fake guns

ok for instance. when i was younger i went to the hall of science in queens ny and they taught us about cannons and rockets. then showed us how to build replicas or even buy replicas and working toys. so how is this any different? now if they were selling a book like the anarchist handbook or the internet guide to making explosives then i would worry.

part of me as a adult wish i had the resources kids have nowadays especially with internet, and modern technology then maybe i wouldn't have hurt myself and others as much from my experiments, all in the name of science of course.

now want to know what i would keep away from kids? those toy water rockets we used to play with as kids (plastic toy fill half way with water then use a pump to fill with air pop tab and pressure made it fly to some good heights. that was till we got bored and started aiming them at each other. those things were hard old school plastic, hurt so much getting hit with it. so between those and the toy gun that used to shoot those little discs where we swapped or lost the discs and would use dimes and pennies as ammunition.

then at 9 i figured out you can take a toy model rocket add fire works to the inside and using the same ignition system to light the fireworks. you would get pretty good at figuring distance out to the length of wick to use. all downhill from there.

Yes, that's true, but I think there's a time and a place for certain things and the Liberty Science Center is not the place for a book like this. It's similar to how I believe in freedom of expression and everything, but there needs to be some restrictions on time and place, i.e. adult entertainment is fine, but clubs that feature nude dancing shouldn't be across the street from an elementary school.

Ah well, it's not like I have any intention of going there and spending money in their gift shop anyway.

cmon. i had similar books when i was young. and if anything the guns looked drastically more real when i was growing up vs the orange and green toy guns they have out now. (not talking about airsoft which i believe to be too realistic and should be looked at)

we can not hide everything from our children. we need to educate them and teach them the difference between right and wrong.

this is similar to people who jumped down the throats of companies that made war based toys. you dont have to buy them if you dont want your children playing with toy guns etc etc. but to restrict the making of toys is ridiculous.

did anyone look at the guns? its cardboard and pens, they dont do anything other than look like some sort of bad replica of a toy gun.

now if you really want to talk about something that will eventually become an issue i think are 3D printers. these can really make a realistic looking replica and that is going to be a problem once the prices on the printers go down in the next year and they will be more widely purchased.

you can not prevent anything but learning by hiding things from children.

and there have been instances where homosexuals have been told by the church they have not prayed hard enough and hence why they are gay (cant make this nonsense up)

Amazing how these jerks constantly raise fares claiming they need it to "perform needed upgrades and operational expenses)

but reality is this.

Six employees who earned more than $250,000;

44 employees who earned between $200,000 and $250,000;

511 employees who earned between $150,000 and $200,000; and

7,513 individuals who earned between $100,000 and $150,000.

Eleven of the 561 employees who earned more than $150,000 in 2009 were Long Island Railroad car repairmen who earned an average of $167,342 ? which was $102,477 over their annual base pay rate of $64,865. Other popular titles in the $150,000-and-over category included:

65 Long Island Railroad and Metro-North Railroad conductors who averaged $86,837 over their base salaries which averaged $75,970;

53 Bridge & Tunnel Sergeants and Lieutenants who averaged $94,962 over the average base pay of $82,594;

34 Long Island and Metro-North Railroad engineers who averaged $89,109 over their $77,953;

28 MTA police officers; and

23 Long Island Railroad gang foremen averaging $81,718 over their base pay rate $82,249.

"A Long Island Rail Road conductor who retired in April, made $239,148, about $4,000 more than the authority?s chief financial officer"

and this is a bit dated so we all know those numbers have risen.

and the PA is even worse.

http://www.panynj.gov/corporate-infor ... roll-information-2014.cfm

no one should ever make more in overtime then they do in salary (some of these make almost 2 times their salary in overtime alone). if that is the case then bring another person on and pay them the going rate, this brings more jobs and some savings.

then people wonder where the money is going if no upgrades / repairs/ fixes etc etc happen.

How are they an oppressed minority?

and Boris you truly are an idiot! first off it is Kenya! and Obama was born in the US so your comment is rubbish. And for the record the only thing all these clowns will fight for is gold.

I don't care what religion or race any group is, and who meets with who, as long as the playing field is kept even across the board (and before the finger pointers start playing games, no idea what they met about, no idea who else met with who and don't care that anyone met with anyone else for that matter) just saying special interest groups are just that special interest and feel they have the need for special or differential treatment than any other group no matter who they are.

while i can see some of the benefit of having these groups i think it should be more along the lines of "Jersey City Small Business Group" or whatever the minute you add anything else you make yourself come off as your are better than the rest of us.

We constantly complain about division but we create that division ourselves with all these groups, all the Political Pacs and every other crap idea our useless politicians and lobbyists can put together to further their own cause instead of furthering a community and a country, be it catholic, jewish, muslim, pastafarian, hindu, atheist, buddhist etc etc.

and for the record i agree with cutting aid to Israel. what do they need it for? they are an established nation with money in and out. large amounts of supporters and a military to defend itself, we should be giving aid to countries like nigeria, Ethiopia, places in south america and any other developing country instead of pumping money into a country for political purposes. And this goes to other countries as well, egypt, jordan, any and all support for saudi arabia (hypocritical to denounce jihadist while being an ally of a country that pays and manipulates other countries to do their bidding and dirty work for their own purposes. including human rights violations, religious hatred. oppression and violence of woman and minorities) so save your " you are an anti semite" nonsense. if the subject was fulop meets with XXXXXXXX business leaders i would feel the same way. When our mid level leaders go to other countries explain to me what is the reason? President? VP, cabinet members? yes they make sense to travel to other countries to show and gather support but even then to a limit.

Keep thinking its all about race and religion.......those barriers have been dissolved for the most part except for those too blind to see it, The reality is it is all about rich and poor. We have gone full circle of the days of kings and queens, Now its corporations and billionaires wearing the crowns and sitting on their thrones in huge towers pointing and telling their servants what to do

want proof? Boko Harem are killing more people than ISIS and Al Qaeda in more violent ways. so where are the coalition airstrikes? where are the demonstrations? where is the outrage? Shit they just killed 2k something people but because they do not offer anything the kings can rape it goes un noticed other than a blip on page 8 under the ad for the new iphone. We are at the boundaries of failing humanity as a whole

normal would be the average or common. just because someone wants to have a huge family doesn't mean others should pay for it. sounds selfish but im not their bank!

if thats the case let parents pay out of their own pockets for each of their children to go through school.

you have 1 child? you pay X
you have 5 children you pay X

sounds simple to me

lets see if people consider that abnormal when it fully effects them and not be a burden on others

again. you guys are not paying attention. i said i had no problem paying my share. im not against it re read what i wrote. what i have an issue with is paying for people who have the need to not care or be selfish and have armies of kids because religion either tells them they need to have as many children as possible or because beliefs do not allow contraception or abortions. for those that also have more children because they get more assistance for each child. and spare me the BS and dont tell me this doesnt happen

i already said i agree we need to pay for education but to what limit? if you have 2 or 3 children on what would be considered normal. but why should i also have to pay more because you want a big family, then you pay for it.

While i agree education for children should be a top priority, but my concern is i dont have any children. doubt i will have any at this point in my life. i dont mind paying into tax to help schools and the like but i am also concerned because everyone is complaining about over crowding, not enough teachers, too many children not enough money. ok then stop having so many kids. in jersey city on average i see parents with no less than 4 children and i have seen some with as many as 7 across a wide age range. Why should i have to pay more because others want to have tons of children. and a percentage of these parents are already on some sort of public assistance also adding to more money that needs to be covered. i dont mind helping out but i also dont want to pay for others to not be held accountable for their actions. i have my own bills and debts i need to pay

there is a difference between TOS and censorship.

"Repetitive posts, personal attacks, spam, excessive free advertising, slander, and other objectionable or inappropriate information may be removed from this site."

so where did those other posts break the rules? and for the record i didnt create or even post in any of the ones i noticed deleted. but it does bother me that anything that is found to be too riske is not to be discussed?

while not set to be immediately connected to JC it does portray people's concerns because of the topics and recent events. there were no posts anymore ignorant than can be found in any other thread on this board. Moderated or not it is an open forum and discussions and free communication should be allowed wether we agree with what is being said or not as long as there is no direct attacks or threats or discrimination against certain individuals, races, sexes or communities as a whole, or any situation where they can be put in immediate danger.

again not saying i agreed or disagreed with what was said in the threads but deleting it because you dont agree with the content is ridiculous!

if anything it should have some sort of option where it can be voted on to be deleted and let the members make that decision.

people who are against these cameras are probably the ones running the red lights. i hate the fact that they worry more about getting a ticket then they do about hitting / killing someone!

even with the cameras people fly through intersections not caring so its back to the wild west for those trying to cross streets

and i think its sad that Rich Boggiano thinks its safer without them. "I think they're a joke. They dangerous," said Boggiano, adding that the cameras lead to more rear-end crashes as drivers slam on their brakes to avoid getting an $85 ticket for blowing through a red light."

hey jerk! how about saying that maybe people shouldn't run red lights to begin with. or how about this. so you dont care about the person crossing at the light who will get hit or the car turning at the light who can also get hit by the other jerk running the red light. as long as they dont get a rear end collision? way to go, i see you have the people's best interest in mind.

i will go on record to say he probably has gotten a ticket or 2 from running red lights.

politics as usual!

Re: Front yard parking

Just can't stay away

reality is we will lose more parking not gain by this absurd law. every house who gets a front parking spot will then also take the street parking spot as a no parking spot so if you dont own a house or live in an apartment you will be forced to pay someone to park in their driveways. this doesn't even count the extra space to the left and right of a driveway so a car can make a turn in which is usually 1/3 to 1/2 car length on each side. as well as the lazy who only pull halfway in or those with huge vans and SUV's

i walk up kennedy every day and there is front yard parking where cars are into the sidewalk thus forcing pedestrians to have to either walk in the street or walk through the dirt of a tree spot thus getting mud and crap all over your shoes. there are also front yard parking where the house is closer to the curb thus again limited walking area on a sidewalk.

this to me is them scrambling to see where they are going to put all the cars for all the people they expect to move to all the new buildings that will block the skyline soon enough.

hate to tell you you can vote all you want. these jerks have pretty much solidified this deal and will take something pretty big to stop it.

i would have used all side streets and forced diagonal street parking on any wide street. more spots. and leaves the avenues open for traffic and emergency vehicles.
