Bravo to the author below! Someone formally made all the valid points I've made on here. Too many stupid people enamored by a great PR machine elect empty suits like Booker and Fulop to positions they haven't earned.

Then we're just going to disagree. He's in a position. It's not high, low, or middle. He's a politician who is supposed to serve the people, as they all are supposed to, not just their own ego-driven grab for power. People like you allow them to continue to be in politics for the latter.

I sure have, with a private company, using company dollars. This is where you and most people have it wrong when you say "high positions". You put them above citizens, and they're not. They work FOR the citizens. YES, in a perfect world, it would be at XYZ diner. But fools like you let this crap pass because these infallible gods are in "high positions". I expected more from you, Pebs.

No, they use public money to fund these lavish time wasters, all aimed at hoisting Fulop into his gubernatorial run.

I have no idea where your logic got twisted with this, but what world do you live in that mayor isn?t a ?high position?? I didn?t make him a god (seriously? You reference this?) or put him on a pedestal. The guy is in a high profile position, the top ticket in the city.

When I used to travel over to Shanghai often, one of the things it was often expressed was how you put forward your best face (or as Americans say, foot). If the town hall is falling apart and covered in graffiti, what does it say about the town?

Like it or not, Fulop does represent us. That means that when he goes out and about, he?s representing the town and the image of that town. If he calls together a meeting with mayors and this meeting takes place at a McDonald?s, the jokes would be lining up (me included).

I?d be disappointed if the guy was popping bottles of champagne in the back of a strip club on Jersey City?s tab. However, a single dinner talking shop with other mayors? it?s a bit silly to get worked up over the location.

While this may be true, and I am one who loves to joke about all people (black, fat, gay, straight, Polish, so on and so on), it's fun to see lefties in full hypocrite form.

Make a black joke about Obama? Racist. Yet, this type of discrimination is allowed.

It's hypocritical at best; desperate at worst.

Again, I'm not against the fat jokes (despite them lacking creativity & intelligence - going for the obvious and all), but be consistent in your bigotry and hatred (in that, don't chide others for their choice of jokes).

Yes, that's why he won New Hampshire and Iowa. Because he's black.

The "majority of voters" spoke

Or the lowest turnout since 1942 mostly in red states.

Or when the electorate was 25% over 60- hint hint- that's not the voting population, no matter how many minorities or young people you want to disenfranchise.

Also I love how people with extremely far right views are always "independent" and those views heckle Obama for doing things Reagan did repeatedly.

The Republican Party of 2014 is transparent racist, corporate welfare, homophobic, xenophobic garbage. It is the party of people who want to shove religion down your throat and allow corporations to steal from you.

And it wins in red, poor America filled with racists who think that corporations will protect them by people who fear the other. And it wins because those people are flabbergasted that a black man is ordering white people around.

It doesn't win nationally- and it won't win in 2016.

It will be nice until you guys are spinning the latest Congressional shutdown costing billions led by the Canadian destined for the Presidency, or why it's personal freedom to nullify DC's marijuana law, or why we should let Comcast and Verizon overcharge for the internet in the name of freedom.

Oh, and white Southern men are dying, and are being replaced by Hispanics, who unsurprisingly don't support people who think the color of their skin is grounds for their detention.

Say buh bye! You could always move to another country that shares Republican values, like Iran, if they were to accept in so many people with barely a high school education.

To be fair, when the GOP puts up stupid crap, which they will inevitably do because God told them too, Obama should shoot that down with the quickness. But because of the extreme tribal mentality, there will be total gridlock.

But again, gridlock in and of itself, is not always negative as portrayed by the news (however, it will be seen as positive once the news spins Obama doing it). There are tens of thousands of new laws passed every year by State and Federal government because government needs to show it's doing something. And I don't agree with tightening our proverbial nooses so easily.

If the GOP wants to repeal AND replace ObamaCare with something they can show is more effective, cost efficient, etc., I say go for it. But to repeal just to repeal will be silly.

That said, it is still going to be fun to watch this dance over the next 2 years. I see Barry as a scorched earth kinda guy.

However, the greatest thing about Obama's veto stamp is that now the GOP can put forth legislation to be blocked all day. So now, instead of headlines always reading "GOP blocks XYZ" and "gridlock caused by GOP" the tables will be turned.

You morons on the left touting the veto pen DO realize that is what's going to happen, riiiiight?

Oh, to the black lefty morons on here, you do know that if Barry uses EO to give amnesty to million upon millions of illegals, your homeboy is making African Americans a permanent and under represented minority in this country, riiiiight?

Come on now guys. We all know Fulop is going full-Cory Booker. He's made it no secret. The only shame is people would actually elect him before he accomplished anything of substance ( a la Booker). The power of a strong PR machine is staggering, equally as staggering as how stupid some voters are to fall for such a farce.

Once again (I swear it's like talking to a wall), you do know the difference between unemployment and joblessness right (and labor participation - also record highs!)? You do know the difference between unemployment and under employment right? If you did, you and every other moron wouldn't keep reading the same meaningless quotes from the democrat playbook.

And yes, the stock market. Obama has helped the rich get richer. Hell, I made a ton of money riding it these past few years. None of what you just posted means jack sh*t to the lower middle class and poor, you know, the people Barry is supposed to have helped??

I'm sure the average middle/lower class family in (insert big city here), most of whom don't invest their money is so pumped that the stock market is at record highs!

Leaving Obama's race out of the equation - if possible - lets consider the difference in the economy for average folks like us between January 09 and today: unemployment down to 5.8%, record stock market, 30yr fixed mortgage in the 4-4.5% range. He's no Lincoln, but life in is generally better in pure economic terms now than it was before his term began.

Do we owe him, or any president any gratitude for economic events? Absolutely not. No politician or president can marshal global economic forces through his policies. Bill Clinton's tax increases did not create the prosperity of the 1990s.

The only thing POTUS can do is engender a spirit of optimism. Reagan was an economic disaster, but he presided over the recovery from stagflation. His optimism convinced the nation that it was morning in America. Obama's big failure has been to not sell the message of recovery. Everyone feels that things have barely got better because he has failed to convince us. In the New York metro area, the very place where things have improved the most since the crash, the area where he should have the most support, the citizenry is overwhelmingly down on him. He hasn't projected his achievements at all. Like a big brash American would.

In fact, his humility reminds me of my days in Kenya...

Why not give Obama credit for the economy. We can debate of the market is in a bubble, but I give credit where it's due. Hell, I've made a boatload off this market, so I love him for it (artificial or not).

That said, as I said earlier, you do know the difference between unemployment and joblessness and underemployment right?

GDP and stock market records don't mean sh*t to the average American who doesn't invest and has no job, and stopped looking.

And this idea democrats only lost because of turnout is like saying "ah! We only lost the ballgame because we didn't score enough runs!" Right. That's called LOSING. Considering every news outlet known to man pushed this election across the country, I bring you to my next point.

Contrary to popular opinion, not voting IS a vote in myriad ways.

Dems who stayed home might have done so because they can't stand their nominee but can't hold their noses long enough to vote republican.
