The commercial was filmed in downtown JC, 5th St in Harsimus Cove to be exact. Not where they live anymore but they did at the time of the shoot.

Re: Funding Cut by $83,560 To Our Local Animal Shelter LHS

LHS does in fact turn away animals, they're not supposed to but they certainly do.

Information from LHS IRS form 990:

LHS brings in a little over a million dollars a year from grants & contributions according to public records for years up to 2013: they received $700k in grants and contributions for 2011 and almost $900k in grants and contributions for 2012.

Of the average $1 million in grants/contributions they bring in yearly:

$600k went to salaries for 2011 and $609k in salaries for 2012

Less than $48k is spent yearly on vet bills

Under $20k is spent for food

Less than $5k is spent for building repairs

If you don't know what's going on at LHS, go and find out...

enough with the hoboken vs jc bs, this is a jc website. go somewhere else with that.

in other news: any truth to the rumor that there's a TGI Friday's moving into the Pershing Bldg at 102 Christopher Columbus Dr?

yeah, the signs announcing their closing have been up for a few days now. think i saw them right before 4th of july weekend? i'm not surprised it's going out of business (& i hate that i'm not) but i'm guessing that rent is too high to be maintained by such a niche business?

the last post on their facebook page was:

RELOCATION SALE

EVERYTHING MUST GO!

All live fish, buy one get one free!

Store wide 25% - 30% off everything

looks like they corrected it:

Ramen Corn Dog at Union Republic: This creation taps a similar vein as the Ramen Burger: take a classic American comfort food and swap about the bread product for ramen noodles. The restaurant's homemade hot dogs from their on-site butcher are enveloped in a cornmeal batter with knots of ramen noodles, then deep fried. On the side, kimchi relish and whole grain mustard. It's not completely out of left field for this Jersey City, NJ restaurant since they already serve ramen and even have their own version of a ramen burger made with roasted pork.

When I was at Choc O Pain I overheard that it would be a pasta type establishment, I wish I had more info or understood what that meant? Hoping it's not another Italian restaurant? We certainly don't need another!

Our fave delivery/take-out: White Star Bar & Hamilton Inn are both great for burgers & wings. Rustique is our favorite pizza in town with Two Boots coming in second place. Honshu for sushi. Rasoi for indian. Gypsy Grill on Newark is also good. Park & Sixth also delivers via delivery.com, they're not to be missed. Taqueria Viva Mexico on Morris is great for mexican takeout. Just a few off the top of my head!

oh no! we saw those guys last night, the tall guy with the forearm bandage was walking. the other guy was on a bike. we were on our way back from torico's walking up jersey towards the park and there was something about them that seemed a bit off. they were in the area of jersey & 2nd i believe. they both noticed our dog immediately and kept moving. we looked back a few times to see if they were up to something but they turned up 2nd towards erie so we lost sight of them.
