My husband & I ate there last night & thought it was fabulous. Loved the olives on the table, the simple decor & menu. We started w/ the bibb lettuce salad (yummy) which was great & came quickly. We had a bit of a wait for our entrees, but we expected that since it was only the second night open. Our waitress was attentive during our wait, and informed us of the backup in the kitchen - offered to freshen up our drinks/bring more olives, great service! Once the food came, it was well worth the wait!!! Hubby ordered the pork belly which he thoroughly enjoyed - I also tried some, it was almost too decadent to finish, but he did :) I ordered the seabass which was perfectly cooked & the broth and potatoes were very nicely flavored. Next time we will do dessert! We can't wait to return :)

Suze-

I too share your frustration w/ the gym not being open sooner - (I can feel myself get more out of shape by the day.) However, I hope & do think this time that they will open by the week of the 22nd.

My husband & I have been popping in every 2 weeks or so to check the progress. Several weeks ago we were advised by Mike that the reason the gym was not open was because the public utility connections for the building were not in the best shape/not up to code. They gym owners are only leasing the space, so they had to get the landlord to coordinate w/ the city to get this problem fixed. A couple of weeks ago they tore up Barrow - probably fixed the connections. Whenever we would stop in, Mike would give us a tour. The place has been finished for weeks & looks great! (I just wanted to say - can't you just let me use the treadmill for 30 mins?..hehe) If all of the connection issues have been resolved I guess now they are just waiting for final inspections to get the CO.

With this being the explanation for the delay, it is really not the business owner's fault for the delay & I can't wait to be able to work out in such a nicely done space.

Last week I stopped by & was advised that it will be a couple more weeks. The gym looks good, it is all clean & setup. They are waiting on the city for inspections - something having to do w/ connections for the outside of the building - not sure on the particulars.

But that was last week - and I don't have any more status....Can someone else shed some light on the subject?

Just out of curiosity....what type of cuisine would you use to describe the menu at Ox?

I stopped by last week & they said it is opening in 2 weeks. The place had all of the equipment in it - it looked like a gym! The elevator was still not complete, but there was a crew in finishing that project. The owner guy said they are just cleaning/tuning up the equipment, making sure everything is good to go for the opening.

I wish they would hurry up! I want to go to the gym!

Maybe stop in this week and see what the progress is.

Brewdroid - I was more interested in the wine list - however I do remember my husband being excited that there was Chimay on the bottled beer list.
I remember the list of bottled beers itself to be quite long as well ( 2 columns on the menu)

Lack of organized activities or not - there has to be some basic education about morals...doing the right or wrong thing. What about taking responsibility for your own actions & not blaming the community or town services for the problem. This just disgusts me.

I ate at Cafe Nia early Saturday morning on their grand opening day. Inside looks very nice - warm colors - looks like they redid the floor, stained dark wood and had dark wood tables, very nice. Food was great - I had pancakes & bacon - hubby had a bagel w/ butter & we got 2 drinks - it was about 8 bucks. We'll be back. Also I think the owner's young daughter's name is Nia - hence cafe Nia.

Was walking by this afternoon - and there were like 4 fitness equipment delivery trucks parked along Newark & Barrow - looks like the equipment was getting loaded in :) I'm so excited for it to open!

I was just passing the old Baker Boy's space & the new owners have made what seems like good progress. The building is newly painted (I think they should have kept the mural) & they have nice new awnings up. Signs on the door & windows say the grand opening is Saturday Aug 25th....I'm excited to check it out!

My husband and I just joined last night - they have a small sales office open on the columbus side of the building. Michael, an owner said that Sept 1 is probably the latest it will open, he is expecting arrival of all of the equipment in the middle of August. They are going to have lots of classes (kickboxing, step, body pump) too - which I really like :) Can't wait!
