No one knows what is in another person's mind & at best police are a deterrent to those who may be thinking of commiting a crime. A policeman for every person will not stop anything, slow it down but not stop a person who is hellbent on commiting some heinous act.

Okay so we get it, you hate Fulop, move on. Instead of being a broken record & droning on & on about what is wrong why don't you come up with a solution or are you like so many of the previous administration's faithful, mindless.

There are many in the community, particularly the south, trying their best to find a way to help turn their community around but it is obvious you are not one of them. Drone on Monroe & become as irrelavent as others on this board.

You're wrong, it belongs to JC for over 20 years. Comcast could not have taken it without our consent. The city had to option to appeal before the board of public utilities. Having been in a contract does not mean you own something. But of course we all know you are never wrong. Why are you comparing Comcast to what they have in Montclair? Montclair is a vastly different community from our own. What they have has no relevance here.

It is obvious people are commenting about this but they don't know the details. JC has a contract with Comcast. You can get a copy from the City Clerk's office. Healy was correct when he spoke before the city council on Dec. 11, 2012 about Comcast shortcomings. His comments are on the video I posted. The new administration had options but choose to cave in on Comcast. Comcast always wanted Channel 1 even though it was branded as JCTV1. Sorry Fulop supporters, Fulop dropped the ball. We had a valuable asset. In the meanwhile, Comcast raises their rates and give JC residents a lousy studio for the public. Before Comcast came here, the previous company was Cable TV of JC. They would video tape local sporting events in JC. Does Comcast do that? The answer is no. The city are shortchanged with this new deal.

What is your point? Channel 1 whether you like it or not belongs to Comcast to do with as they please when the contract is up for renegotiation. What has raising their rates got to do with the price of apples? Comcast has been providing lousy service to Jersey City for years, so why didn't the magnificent Healy pick up the baton & demand better? And you whine because of a channel change?

The sky still is not falling & will not because of Comcast.

Enough already, you will twist, deflect & convolute anything that does not fit into the world according to Yvonne, especially when it comes to this administration. People are not as misinformed or uninformed as you would want to believe & I am sure that for every one person you find who did not know, there are three that do & many more who do not have Comcast or Fios. Of course this is an arbitrary number I have thrown out as a for instance. I, for one, have never seen Channel 1 as I have neither Comcast nor Fios nor do I see any change in my viewing preferences in the foreseeable future. Please, the sky is not falling because Channel 1 is now Channel 96.

You are correct Lima17. You will see police at construction sites & major road works throughout the state. The construction company, or whomever, then pays the city ($5 per officer) to act as administrator.

Also the rules governing how long an officer can work at a site, per day, is monitered.

Let's not forget that Healy's one son, who is a member of the JCFD, was involved in what was termed as a domestic assault in Hoboken. Tsk, tsk drunk AND bullying a woman.

When Healy had that massive lay-off around 2011ish, the only department not hit was the fire department. Reason, the last class in would have the least amount of seniority so they would be the first group let go. One guess whose two sons were in that last class.

Now as for the council membership, let's review some of the ex-mayor's cronies: Gaughan & Brennan were booze hounds & Flood had dementia.

It is not illegal, but the second you start they can charge you with lewdness or indecent exposure.

While it is not illegal by state law, cities & towns can enact their own ordinances.

Here is the website that gave me the above info -
http://www.marainlaw.com/page.php?here=urinating

This led me to look a little further & I found this. - http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84686 - just read the case.

The ordinance number is 242-5 & has been around since at least 2009. I couldn?t access the city codes but I think the ordinance number should be enough for those who wish to call the city clerk?s office for the exact wording.

Problematically for CIVIC JC, the definition of "blight" is extremely broad - http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB124105581784671561 - and I have no doubt JC will be able to make it stick in this situation.

What buses? Buses are an unreliable service especially returning home past 11:00 PM. A cab ride would cost more than a tank full of gas. Not having parking is telling residents in Society Hill, Port Liberte, or residents in the Western Slope they are not welcome. There is limited mass transit especially in cold weather.

This is problem for us. I live in the Heights, and there is only one direct bus to downtown - the 86 which runs down Palisades to Grove Street and Newport. It runs every 30 minutes after 5:00pm, and hourly after 7:00pm. The last bus leaves Newport at 9:50pm. I've had to bail early on classes I take at the JC Art School to catch that last bus!

If you don't mind the 20 to 30 minute walk each way you can walk to JSQ and take the PATH 1 stop, although truth be told I only do this for something really fun like JCAST or the gay pride parade.

There is also the #82 that runs along Summit Ave. from something like 6 to 9am & 3 to 6pm, I am not 100% sure as I have used it very little. I can walk 15 min to the Lightrail, get off at Marin Blvd, almost behind the Boys Club. Those who want to get downtown can very easily.

Parking Authority has nothing to do with sweeper schedules, for that you have to call the incinerator authority. Sweepers just ride ahead to warn you of the sweeper & to issue tickets.

Technically no. If the sign says no parking between 10 & 12 it means just that regardless of what time the sweeper passes. I knew a guy who got such a ticket on Bowers. He took the picture, dated & timed, clearly showing that the sweeper was there before the ticket was issued. Though the judge dismissed it, he let it be known that it was a courtesy that tickets were not issued after the sweeper had passed.

Which is all pretty amusing since any child can turn on the TV or browse common internet sites and see things that are dramatically more sexual in nature at any given moment. Hell, certain advertisements are more overtly sexual in nature than this.

I'm with you on this. People are going into OMG mode over pictures hanging in a building that may/may not be offensive but fail to realize that our own children dress in a pornographic manner. Just walk down any street & you see children & adults alike with their pants hanging below their arse's, young women with body parts jiggling with little left to the imagination. The artwork can be taken down but what are you going to do about the exposure the children are subjected to everyday?
