Did any JC press cover the Villains and Victims party at MAE on Saturday? It was amazing. There was a prohibition era theme, amazing cocktails, sword/flame swallowers, great crowd, and awesome burlesque show. Psyched to have stuff like this going on in the neighborhood!

Anyone know anything about all that art in the building on the corner of Communipaw and Monitor (I think?)? I've walked past a few times when coming back from the light rail, and was wondering if they're opening an art gallery in our hood? I'm no connoisseur, but there was def a lot of great pop art style pieces. A gallery would be a great addition to the neighborhood.

Re: Good homestyle Chinese restaurant?

I know it's a bit out of the way, but I've recently discovered China Chef in Secaucus. It's a sit down family style restaurant with an extensive menu, similar to Wo Hop or Hop Kee in Chinatown and without having to deal with heading into the city. I've had some great dishes there and they also do dim sum in the mornings, though I haven't tried that yet. About a 20 min ride from Jersey City, hope this helps.

Moving into the BL neighborhood is totally worth it for some of us. I was looking for a place about 5 years ago and with my budget I could rent a small studio downtown, or I could buy a 2 BR with a basement and backyard in an up and coming neighborhood. No brainer. At the time, Whitlock Mills (what ever happened to that?) and The Foundry were both coming up, so I thought it'd be exciting to be a part of this neighborhoods revival. I was right.

Don't get me wrong, I don't feel as safe all the time as I do when strolling around downtown, but the neighborhood is changing for the better everyday. People seem to think downtown changed over night, but it was only maybe 15-20 years ago my parents wouldn't let me visit friends because parts of the neighborhood was so bad! When I first moved to BL most of my friends thought I was crazy, but now they "get it". In fact, several of them have even been entertaining the thought of moving/ opening businesses here.

The arrival of MAE, PLT, and all the redevelopment that has been going on recently makes me feel even more validated about the decision I've made. It's not for everyone, but some people like to get in at the ground floor of a good thing =).

I love the food at Park and Sixth (beast burger every time) and the service is always adequate. I have to agree with that last post though, there are two girls there that always have the nastiest demeanor. Other than the two unfriendly problem children, the male staff is usually warm and welcoming. So glad you guys have the bar now, keep up the good work!

Would love to see a gourmet burger shop open in JC. We have no truly great burger places. There's definitely a market, and seems like the type of place that would thrive after hours for the bar crowd as well.

I have homeowners insurance, have been going back and fourth with them all week. It's very possibly an inside job, I just have no clue who it could be. Police still have no suspects, my chances of recovery are looking slim at this point.

Thanks so much guys, really appreciate all the help. I've canvassed the neighborhood a bit, but no one seems to have seen anything. Printed out a list with all the missing items and going to bring them to all the local pawn shops, hoping to have some luck there. Haven't noticed any cameras nearby, but I'll definitely keep an eye out. If anyone even has the slightest suspicion about someone moving any of these items, please contact me! Really desperate to get my gear back, this is stuff I've acquired over the past 10+ years. Thanks again for all of your concern.

Thanks! Printing out the list right now, along with the police report number to hand out to the local pawn shops. My building is right by the Liberty Park Light Rail stop.
