Home away from home
Home away from home

Im moving the the JSQ area and probably taking a few classes at St Peters College. Does anyone know if they sell yearly or monthly parking permits for students or is it first come, first serve?

thats true murican, its legal if indented, but it doesnt seem that at least the western facing windows are by much, and nevertheless, it would suck to face another brick wall whether it be legal or not.

the other fun thing about the montgomery greene is that the southern and western facing windows are pretty much illegal since you cant make windows facing out on another lot. If another building in 5-10 years were built adjacent to the mont. greene and was an equal sized or larger building, it would cover every window on the southern and/or western side, detroying all those views and depreciating the apts values tremendously. As an architect, I know that we arent allowed to build anything like that and I wonder infact how it got approved.

holy crap! i understand this isnt the richest city or anything, but do they really need to cut corners on everything? if they just thought 5 years ahead, theyd see that investing a little to that corner as a park now would be a lot better for the surrounding residential high rises that are soon to be right next to it, instead of some half-assed after thought for ugly transformers. they can bury it just like any other city would.

Along the way, Becker revealed the project was reconfigured from two more or less equal-sized towers to a development that will now feature a north tower rising 58 floors above the seven-story base and a south tower that will add 38 stories to the base.

65 stories total! Poor Trump wont be able to say he has the tallest residential towers in NJ anymore.

In order to do this the bridge would have to be 210 ft. tall to allow the tallest cruise ships to pass under. That would be an eyesore to say the least, not to mention it isn't needed, and it would make less than zero economic sense.

I wouldnt say it isnt needed. I mean it would be very helpful to reduce the passenger load on the PATH by allowing walkers and bikers to commute to Manhattan every day, and it wouldnt need to be an eyesore. Well designed ped-bridges can be some of the most beautiful engineered structures if done right. However, I cant argue it not making much economic sense for either city and therefore will prob never happen.

basically because no one would pay for a huge public project that doesnt generate any money. This isnt Europe.
Unless they could have a toll at the end of the bridge so walkers would have to pay to use it. however, I agree this would be a great way to walk/bike into the city quickly and easily.

We already have bike lanes in Jersey City, it's called the sidewalk. , so I think the city should decriminalize riding on the sidewalk for safety reasons.

yea, but its illegal for a reason. its dangerous to ride where someone can be walking around a corner or something and its slower than riding in the road.

Manhattan and Brooklyn are good examples of urban areas with more people and more cars than JC that have successful bike lanes without taking away street parking anywhere. There are plenty of roads with wide lanes that can easily fit lanes on at least one side without compromising any traffic or parking.

I think theyre shooting themselves in the foot if they want to promote the city as a fun place to be after 8pm. There are plenty of successful cities with a nightlife that manage not to drive all the residents crazy. i dont think this is the answer. I do agree that noise pollution from citizens outside clubs blaring music in cars and yelling or whatever should be cracked down on, but not in bars and clubs.

this robbery reminds me of the husband and wife robbery in Pulp Fiction. Pretty much failed just as bad for them too.

Leave him a little note under his wiper asking him politely if he could avoid doing this, or if this doesnt work, walk by his car a little too close with your keys out

I dont know if I'd say they overbuilt everything back then. Ever heard of the Tacoma-Narrows bridge in Washington? That was built in the 20's or 30's and that had an embarrassingly short lifespan for a bridge. Either way, they are starting the work so Im sure its nothing too serious to be concerned about.
