He's physically harmless, but that doesn't mean I don't wish death upon him.

Does that make sense?

You guys are so grumpy all the time.

Something like 20% of the cast of Predator have been governors. I see no reason Jon should be precluded on the basis of being a celebrity alone.

If I were he, I'd probably take a really long nap, then tour the beaches of the world for a year or so. Maybe after that I'd think about maybe governing something. Probably not though. 16 years is a long time to do anything.

Just got an alternator changed at Joe's the other day.

Brought the car in at 12, done by 4. Can't argue with that.

Re: Transmission

I'll never understand why clubs do that.

If you hand me a 15 dollar mixed drink in a dixie cup, that ends my night of drinking in your establishment. You got me for the 15, but you could have had me for 50 if you'd just fucked me a little less up front. You'd have also gotten it on the back end when I actually came back instead of telling all my friends that it was a rip off and we should stick around Newark Ave instead.

Not saying Transmission is this bad, but the rock/dance clubs in the city are. I don't understand the business model.

Re: Please Help Prato Bakery

All this legalese makes my head spin.

How far back do we want to take this stupid pissing contest?

The Dutch should have properly applied for a variance before building on Lenape land! If you're not ok with Algonquin culture, you shouldn't have moved here!

Shut the fuck up already. Things change. Neighborhoods change. Deeeeeeeeeal with it.

Prato is free to go seek a variance to have backyard seating. It's legal. My neighbors sit outside in their yard nightly and smoke cigarettes and talk about the most insipid shit. I'm not going to try to get some kind of injunction to get them to shut their stupid mouths. Who cares? Have a glass of wine and live and let live.

User1111 gets it. Neighborhood is different. Don't like it, bounce. I moved next to a police station on Erie I figured it would be nice and quiet. For a while, it was. Now it's the opposite of quiet. I'm probably going to move. Who cares?

The time to act is NOW so if you have any desire to protect your safety, your children?s safety, your pets, your quality of life and your property then you MUST act now!

You do so much damage to your own cause when you say things like this because it makes you sound like an absolute lunatic. Like, an actual crazy person shouting at cars.

The minute someone uses the "think of the children!" argument, anyone with half a brain knows to immediately tune them out because they're generally grasping at straws.

You'd do well to edit your post down to the salient points because there are plenty of them which address real actual issues that make sense and do indeed affect everyone of us that lives in the neighborhood.

Sadly I'm going to guess that if you're the type to suggest cafes lead to pedophiles in your neighborhood, you probably don't have your finger on the pulse of your target audience.

Whatever.

If Jersey City made a giant parking hive somewhere along 139 or something that was free to residents, I would happily park there instead of doing the stupid street parking dance.

Close all the streets!

Hey wait, but what if I'm coming from work and going to the city. Surely we get local cut-through privileges, right?
What's the point of living here otherwise? hah

For real though, there's got to be a better way to get traffic into the city. Unfortunately I think it would take better planning on NYC's side. As soon as you come out you're in a traffic light quagmire.

Re: Please Help Prato Bakery

I don't think any of us here know exactly what their plans looked like when they filed or if there was even a need for a variance for the indoor seats.

It's just upsetting that such a simple thing can't be easily resolved.

Like I said, I can understand an issue with outdoor seating, especially if it wasn't in the plans, but the indoor stuff? Stop it. We should be able to deal with this.

Man, you serious? They got bounced again?

I was just there over the weekend. I brought my Mom and sister. We sat there for an hour and caught up on life over cafe and cantucci.

Shame their couldn't be some kind of agreement worked out. Outside seating is one thing and I suppose I could understand the complaint there, but indoors? Come on.

Old thread, issue most likely taken care of.

Worth saying though...

Speaking as a contractor, I would urge you NOT to call the big box stores.
Selfishly, it takes money away from your local contractors that actually have a stake in the area you live in.
Objectively, they don't give you the same level of service that a proper tradesman will. This is less true of a field that requires a license like an electrician or a plumber, but is absolutely true of carpentry, flooring, etc. The details that set a good craftsman apart from the field are going to be entirely absent when you go through a large retailer. They have no interest in excelling, only getting to the next paying job so that they can sell you their house brand carpet.

Ok, I'm done. Phew. I feel better.

That enormous crane certainly looked like it was settling in there.

All of this bums me out. I'm fine with new residents, but I'm going to miss the wastelands by the cliff when they're all gone.

Where am I supposed to drink beer and change my oil now?

Re: Driving down Jersey in Hamilton Park

Just drive carefully. Please no more traffic lights.

Erie sucks so bad now that there's fucking speed bumps and multiple stop signs.

If you're driving and have the right of way, assume everyone is out to get you. You can generally pick up on the vibe of whoever is at the cross street and sense whether or not they're going to cut you off. Also, if you hesitate, they're going to. Driving Psychology 101 right there. Never show weakness! Ha

You can also take a lessen from the delivery companies like UPS and FedEx and try to minimize the number of left turns you make. Much easier to make 3 rights than a left most times. Trying to make a left onto Jersey is such a waste of time and a t-bone risk if there's a truck parked on the corner, as somebody mentioned before. I never do it.

The fast bikes on Newark Ave sidewalks only started after the new sidewalks went in with the new handicap ramps -- there have been many people walking out of stores that have been hit!

Whoa hold on, please don't think that's my fight.

If you ride your bike on the sidewalk you should be drawn and quartered.

Biking through the plaza on the road though, you're cool. Do your thing.

A couple minutes ago I was walking to Downtown Hardware to buy batteries though. A guy I knew was rolling by slowly on his bike in the pedestrian plaza. He waved and said what's up. I walked over to him and punched him in his asshole face for endangering children. Scumbag got what he deserved, amirite?

Once again, I'd like to know how many two years olds have been run over by cyclists in Jersey City.

I'd wager less than are killed in drive by shootings, which is probably still less than the number struck by lightning or mauled by tigers.

Just for the sake of argument, do we have a figure on how many pedestrian injuries have taken place at the hands/wheels of cyclists this year?

Hold on now, you can't use the fact that we kill millions for no reason as a justification for our cat eugenics program.
We're currently acting like Cat Hitler.

Explain why. Why can't there be feral cats?
