Thanks Jerry, you got a bunch of rusted revolvers and rifles off the shelves and used our tax dollars to do so. In your press release you labeled a semi-auto M1 carbine (korean war era) an assault rifle. On CNN you said Jersey City doesnt have a problem... are you serious?

We don't need cops at council meetings to stop crime in JC, what we need are FBI agents assigned to the council persons.
The biggest crooks in the city are going to be protected by the officers the citizens pay for? This smacks of irony. Talk about a principal-agent problem!

Dan, I've got a new platform slogan for you and Team Healy...
MORE: more corruption, more kickbacks, more cronyism. I mean, we in JC have been living with corruption for at least the better part of the last 100 years, dont we deserve more of it?

i tried to dine with an open mind (I loved the food, especially the quessadillas, at Baja)...
I decided to ask the waitress, who was very nice, what tasted good. Instead of a recommendation she simply told me that tacos were on the left side of the menu and burritos were on the back... Thank you but I can read. Without a recommendation I decided to order a sample plate that had 2 kinds of tacos... horrible tasting food. the tacos reminded me of when my mom would have an "ortega taco night." what made it even worse was that i paid nearly $6 for one. the quessadila tasted ok but the texture stunk since they didnt press/bake/fry it. My girlfriend ordered a monstrosity of a dish, jungle chicken i think? It consisted of sour mangoes, plantains, avocado, and lime juice thrown on top of a piece of chicken. it tasted like acid, too many overpowering ingredients that were all far from ripe mixed together (poorly). If it was under $10 i wouldnt complain but paying nearly $15 for a piece of crap... unacceptable. And the name? i dont think i even saw coffee on the menu... I cant wait for taqueria to reopen.

what about provision of public services (when the property is tax abated) and congestion (traffic & parking) associated with placing the property in that location?

I dont know about the bankruptcy possibility but I do know this company is owned by peter mocco and only available (imposed) to residents in liberty harbor (owned/developed by mocco). they are a reseller of directv (they pick the packages and channels and the price you pay for them). essentially they have a monopoly on your cable/internet as verizon/comcast are not allowed to connect to a building without the building owner's (mocco's) permission.
There packages stink, their receivers are 3 years outdated and constantly require resets, their internet is always slow and the wireless router is always breaking down and requiring a reset. billing is painful (6%+ fee for paying with a credit card). I cant wait for my lease to be up so that I can move. The only plus is that their pricing, at least for the most basic package, isnt horrible (id say its probably about $50 less than competition, but of course that difference is made up for in rent).

The current law is that the mayor is supposed to conduct an audit every 4 years, but we learned at the council hearing that no audit has ever been performed in the past 30 years. The amendment that lavarro proposed essentially forces the mayor to have the audit conducted.

Studies, as long as they have a clearly defined scope and budget are perfectly reasonable, in fact they are neccessary to ensure that an entity is functioning as it is supposed to (for its constituents). In this case, "study" is simply just another word for "audit." Audits are of course designed to avoid waste and ensure that resources are being optimally directed... which is of course why some on the council dont want to even consider this getting the chance to go to public comment (second reading).
if we are lucky, the audit will have been a waste of money (because that implies that the police dept is functioning optimally), if we are "unlucky" the audit will pay for itself by either finding cost savings (uniformed cops working desk jobs replaced with professional admins for a lower price) and/or better directing resources to prevent crime (desk cops directed to patrol the streets).
